where do you even get it? it's not in the store
keep hearing about how it's literally the best shit ever, and honestly it makes sense our ancestors didn't waste very much, eating more than just the muscle bellies.

Liver isn't a meme. It is very nutritious. Some stores do sell liver, but today organ meat isn't very desired by the masses, so you usually have to go direct to a butchers store for it.
I don't think there are any butchers here
I live in a city
went to every nearby store, most I found was frozen pieces of liver
bought some
how much am I supposed to eat?
>lives in a city
>no butchers
guess again assclown
I dunno brah I google butchers in seattle and don't find anything
Go to a chinese or asian grocer.
alright, I'm going to get up early tomorrow (I usually get up at 6 for classes and sleep in til 10 on off days) with some cash and I'm going to walk to every single market on my way to asia town
tons of fricking homeless tweakers around that way though
hope I don't get stabbed
is there anyway I can help preserve the meat on a 3-5 hour journey?
What food desert are you in that you have to travel 3 hours to get to a single asian grocer? There's like 14 different spots spread around Seattle.
i have to walk
Sounds like Seattle kind of sucks. Glad I'm in Boston. Can't you take a bus?
bus is degenerate central
seen homeless take shits and wank on there
we've got a train which is much better, but I want to see the markets in between too
>chinese or asian grocer.
he needs beef liver, not dog or rat liver
Only white person butcher I can find offering lots of variety is green valley meats, outside of the city. Also unsure how pricy they are.
https://gvmeatmarket.com/menu
https://www.localharvest.org/
search your area on here and find a local farmer who maybe has it directly. some times they even do delivery on certain days depending on if you are close by or not. also try to get raw milk.
>phoneposter i know
Nah it's real. I live in Wollongong and most butchers don't sell organ meat or any hunted meat. I don't really understand how they compete with each other. They all just sell beef, lamb and chicken with the same marketing shit about how fresh it is and how nice they were to the animals or whatever.
I kill usually 3 deer every year. Depending on where I hit them, I usually retain the heart and liver and eat it. It’s not enough food by itself, so I’ll have an organ day. I try to save it for a few days where I’ll go super hard in the gym. Like lift like frick one day, and run/stairmaster/smith machine for 2 hours the next, and made asparagus or broccoli as a side. It doesn’t taste as good as regular venison steaks or anything, but it’s edible. Just kind of rubbery. I also take the bones and boil them and make venison stock and store it in a mason jar. It’s basically a sub for beef stock.
You should be able to find unfrozen liver in grocery stores might just need check out a few locations. As for how much around 250g per week is a good amount. More than that and you run the risk of the nutrients within liver becoming poisonous due to how nutrient rich it is. Also tip for cooking, soak liver in milk for like 2 hours before cooking it, gets rid of the bitter taste
I wish I loved the taste of liver but we ate it a frickload when I was a kid and it kills me
please see above
don't eat liver by itself
blitz it into a pate, or blitz it into a creamy consistency with creams/broths
not that anyone is now forcing you to eat liver, but it was my solution towards it
I really should bros
This. It also helps you pace your consumption of liver. Not good to overdose on it.
Chicken liver is great, gotta get those fresh though, frozen ones just feels off for some reason.
You can ask the in store butcher if they don't have it out already packaged. Look around, they don't stock beef liver by the beef always.
Yeah I'm looking all up and down the meat section
most I've found was frozen liver
my mom gave me a terrible meat budget (she doesn't like meat) and I'm trying to get some really nutrient dense protangs
thanks for the tips brah
I'm thinking about making some for my little brother too
he's a runner, do you think he'll benefit from it?
>I'm thinking about making some for my little brother too
>he's a runner, do you think he'll benefit from it?
yes you will both become based as frick after eating liver a couple times a week for a year. you will be doing him a big favor.
They simply don't taste as good as muscle meat, but liver and heart are extremely nutritious. And intestine is the best casing for cured meats.
They are also slightly awkward to cook which is intimidating. Lot of prep too it.
alright, here you go, cheat sheet
look up details if you want later
ranked in order of taste then cooking speed + method to get it right
lamb heart - slow, boiled (preferred) or fast sliced
lamb kidneys - slow
cow tongue - slow, boiled
cow heart - slow, boiled
brain - fast, fried
sweetbreads - fast, fried
chicken hearts - fast, fried or fast oven
chicken/lamb liver - fast, fried
pigs liver - fast, fried
If you hate the taste of liver, or keep fricking it up and making it dry - blitz it in a mini blender with some chicken stock/chicken soup you made yourself and eat it with any carb, or even by itself, depending on the consitency you like
Get bones from your local butcher (sometimes they give them out for free) and don't be afraid to ask
Make delicious broth for type 2 and 3 collagen gains, and a way to flavour even the most boring dishes
All there is to it
thanks for the info brah
I live in a city though so I doubt there are any kind butcher like that
just look one up dawg
even when i was living in London there were plenty around
ps. if you get no results when looking up "butcher", then visit delis
they sometimes have small butcher sections
OR alternative solutions, especially since you live in le city
see if you have any south american/eastern euro delis
they're more comfortable with eating tongue/heart, and those are the most delicious things on the list i wrote above anyways
good luck on your quest, it took me a lil time to search as well
fuark I'm going to try the bone tip. Thanks anon.
dude
>get a rotisserie chicken
>eat all the good meat
>take the entire bit thats left and boil it in a large pot for a few hours
>strain the liquid into containers
>profit
its literally liquid gold.
yeah what he said
any kind of bone in meat - if you roast that, save the bones for later
invest in a pressure cooker or slowcooker and go to town
have fun
Professional chef here.
For all hearts, u need to remove surface inner area with a knife, then cut into flat chunks and grill it max heat very quickly, should be eaten rare/medium rare in the middle always. Boiled is utterly shit compared.
hey everybody listen to this guy on four channel telling you to eat rare chicken hearts.
>brain
Enjoy dying a painful death.
Organs can and should be eaten raw. That's how you get most of the benefits.
I eat a lot of raw meat. Mainly beef, poultry and rarely pork. Organs too sometimes.
Beef heart is great raw with some Modena vinegar and spices. It's also perfectly fine plain, no spices. I like it more than regular beef.
Beef liver when raw tastes kinda weird to me, no matter what spices I add to it. I prefer chicken liver.
Testicles have a distinct taste and smell and I don't know what spices you can use to make them appetizing. They don't improve much when cooked. They're also difficult to cut without a very sharp knife.
If you're only willing to eat organs cooked, I suggest you make paté. It's a paste made with 50% liver and 50% fat, preferably butter.
If you add the right spices (garlic, caramelized onions, etc) it's delicious. You can spread in on bread, make a sandwich, and it's extremely nutritive.
You can also make paté with sardines. One of the best things I've ever tried.
Brains are extremely nutritious and can be eaten raw with no issue.
nah bro, that shit has parasites and shit in it
imma just eat it like my ancestors: cooked.
gay alert
>DONT want anal worms
>somehow a gay
uhhhhh breh, you got something to explain?
I just bought 5 pounds of various organs at the butcher shop with 4 pints of hog blood for melas zomos. Are you moronic? Maybe.
Carnivore diet is a meme. Even with organ meat, you're getting only a puny amount of vitamin C.
no one said carnivore you dunce
Those are the filters of the animal, pass.
Aren't those livers full of fricking antibiotics and shit?
Liver doesn’t store toxins
at your butchers
tongue is a meme
livers and hearts are not
livers can be toxic, read what kind of liver youre buying
what kind are the bad ones?
PRIMAL
It’s very nutrient dense, but if you didnt grow up eating it you probably won’t enjoy it much until you’re used to it. Butcher shop or “fancy” supermarket like lowes foods or publix
I ate some chicken gizzards last night lads
oh shit i forgot about gizzards for that list
yeah they're epic as frick!!!!!!!
they're rubbery as shit
The more ethnic the grocery store, the more organ meats you'll find. They don't bother selling to 1st worlders, since they've forgone most organs besides skin and liver.
If you live in Seattle kys immediately
Hey brah, you think I like living here?
been here my whole life, and once I finish college I'm fricking off
legit hate this place
no one in Seattle is from Seattle anymore either, everyone is fricking off
my mum is just waiting for me to finish uni before we leave
A lot of my friends from HS fricked off to cali, but frick cali to be honest.
Only eat muscle meat.
Organ meat is worse than a meme: it will harm you if you do it long term
Why would it harm you? People have eaten organs and easily lived to their 90's.
See
Why would eating a filter be bad? You realize it's also a store of vitamins and it's a filter in the sense that it destroys poisons and renders them non-toxic or excretes them from the body, right? The liver also has numerous other functions like helping digest and transport fatty acids to the bloodstream.
how will it harm me?
Our "ancestors" probably didn't eat that shit. Follow the etymology of the word. Even in sanskrit it is called refused/what is rejected.
Is broth IST? I like buying random bones for basically pennies and throwing them into pot with some chicken wings and fatty beef cuts with a bone and letting it cook for 8+ hours, I try to cook a huge pot at least once every two weeks.
yes its extremely fit. great source of collagen.
what do you do with all the waste?
feel like a total tard giving up my compost to the city and a cuck for paying for it
I'm in bongland and Asda/Morrisons sell Liver, Kidney and Heart from chickens pigs and cows
You can pick it up at a smaller butcher too
Protip: Liver can be horrible if you don't cook it just right. Kidney and Heart are way more palatable.
I keep hearing that you can get poisoned if you eat too much liver meat due to the vitamin content, is that a thing i would actually have to worry about? ideally i would use it for a meal prep and get a couple of ounces a day
>is that a thing i would actually have to worry about? ideally i would use it for a meal prep and get a couple of ounces a day
Yes, and that's the correct approach.
Vitamin A toxicity is a hoax. This myth is based on a study made on people who died by cadmium poisoning after eating the liver of a polar bear.
The waters of the Arctic are high in cadmium and it stores in the animal's liver.
The "scientists" used this fringe example of 2-3 people dying from eating poisoned organs, correlated it with the vitamin content, and pushed the study, creating this myth.
It's the prime example of bad science and how studies are made to push an agenda. In this case, the UN Plant-based agenda.
They are unironically trying to make you afraid of the most nutritious foods that exist (meat, organs, raw dairy, animal-based products) and push you towards eating vegetables.
it's not just vitamin A, it's iron as well. You should eat liver in ounces, not pounds like other meat.
Cool opinion, but no. Organs are the fountain of health, and you should eat as much as you can of them.
You can overeat, as in "physically shoving too much food in your stomach", but there is no "toxic" amount of nutrients in natural foods.
Stop being afraid of NUTRIENTS!!!!
Why can't autists into moderation
the inuit literally live like 10 years less than the average people from the nations that neighbour them lol
probably because they live separate from society with little to no education or medical assistance
In the middle of nowhere alaska of all places
I think that only happens if you're eating the liver of a carnivore. AFAIK people have died from Polar Bear livers. If it's even possible to die from beef liver, you're going to have to eat a shit ton
Grind a quality dog food into dust and add make pills. Easy macros with none if the taste.
Hunt for it
Heart taste best
>it's not in the store
Go to any asian grocery store they're selling every disgusting part of the animal that you could possibly ask for.
>Organ meat a meme?
>where do you even get it?
No. I get beef liver from the local butcher.
I only eat it when I get pollo loco chicken thighs
They always leave the kidney
>You WILL eat raw testicle
Just had some liver and onions brehs
cook 1 pound of liver, but only ate like 1/3 of it
it is super filling
it is really tasty at first, but then it has kind of a wet chalk after taste
the strong iron taste I don't mind so much
