For DBs I used to do RDLs with a slow negative , starting with the DBs on my side and bringing them to my front as I'm going down (and reverse on the way up)
I don't give a shit about quads but if you are a masochist then DB reverse lunges or Bulgarian split squats, with a large step while keeping the front knee almost vertical and sitting back (you won't get knee pain that way)

They'll work more muscle and thus build more muscle then any other lift, except for, maybe, squats. Also hypertrohy is a rep range and releated to tut, not specifc movements.

Unless you lift competitively it's fricking useless. The only good thing about it still is for newbie gains on a full body split in the beginning. Imagine being an experience lifter and STILL relying on barbell deadlifts. LOL.

My back is in great shape, which I attribute to deadlifts keeping is strong and healthy. People who don’t deadlift always whine about muh back because their backs are in constant pain due to weakness, and if they tried to deadlift heavy, they would indeed go to snap city since they don’t have the base of strength built up. However, if you gradually work your way up to deadlifting 500+ pounds, you sure as hell aren’t going to get hurt picking up a box at work or some shit.
And from a hypertrophy standpoint (gay), they are the only glute exercise you need AND you get a lot of hamstrings, lower back, traps, and forearms out of it too.

    Here’s why I deadlift.
    1. It’s kinda fun.
    2. Apparently it builds more muscle than almost any lift. Maybe it’s 2nd to the squat? IDK.
    3. It’s a compound lift, it builds shoulder, arm and back muscles, in addition to glutes and hamstrings, grip strength, and of course it strengthens the lower back.

It is pretty redundant after x amount of kg for people who don't give a shit about DLs for competition. DLs have little carryover for sport performance like running or jumping (in fact they make you worse at both) while being extremely fatigue prone and risky (shearing force + spinal compression = inherently shitty lift for your back even with good form).

I hurt my back deadlifting for the first time a few weeks ago. I was repping 225kg and didn't notice that the weight landed a little outside my pulling range and let go of the bar when initiating the lift, I finished the set before I noticed that I strained my back. I was recovering really quickly and then really fricked myself with an Overhead Press. I'm pretty sure it's my sciatic and tibial nerves that are trapped right now. I should be alright in about a week. Can't wait to deadlift again.
