Outside of powershitting what is the point of the deadlift? There are far better back focused exercises to grow your back. You can do specific exercises to target glutes far better than deadlift can and likewise with hamstrings and quads. Deadlift looks like a worthless powershitter ego lift

>what is the point of a lift other than to find out how much weight you can lift?
Gee idk OP how many dicks can you fit in your ass?
I haven't tried, nor do I want to know.
People like the idea of breaking their spine. Let them be
can i work glutes, quads, and hamstrings with a couple of dumbbells at home without rdl or anything similar?
you need a lot of reps for that as far as I know
lots of reps, but what would be the best exercises?
For DBs I used to do RDLs with a slow negative , starting with the DBs on my side and bringing them to my front as I'm going down (and reverse on the way up)
I don't give a shit about quads but if you are a masochist then DB reverse lunges or Bulgarian split squats, with a large step while keeping the front knee almost vertical and sitting back (you won't get knee pain that way)
goblet squats are good for your quads, dumbbell stiff-legged deadlift for glutes and hamstrings (one legged deadlifts too)
Imagine the power stroke on your wiener from this mare
please be a woman
i know ur a dyel from the fact you recommend a goblet squat - a squat variation where you cannot load up any reasonable amount of weight.
if you can squat 3pl8 a goblet squat is useless
read the original post you absolute Black person, he's asking for home dumbbell exercises
Built for BBC
Seems like a good position if you're feeling lazy. Set up one of those standing incline benches behind her.
Bulgarian split squats
Serious question, should I avoid barbell squats too?
Trapbar squats are better, until you dislocate your arm from your shoulders.
No because they're actually useful/worth the risks
depends on what your fitness goals are, is it for bodybuilding, powerlifting, or Olympic lifting?
I do them because I despise squats, (Still do them once a week)
Not gonna happen unless you're ego lifting and throwing form in the garbage.
i only date fat chicks so having a strong deadlift helps a lot
It's a compound lift, not an isolation.
Deadlift is a cope for all the morons that fricked their one and only body now they pretend deadlift didn’t do it and they tell everyone else deadlift is great so they can suffer alongside them.
Post back
Yeah here’s my back internet stranger. Lol kys
>There are far better back focused exercises to grow your back. You can do specific exercises to target glutes far better than deadlift can and likewise with hamstrings and quads.
like what
Not him but I like T bar rows and hyperextensions. Also, when you lift heavy things in normal life, your body position is much closer to a front squat than a deadlift because not many heavy things have a conveniently-sized handle 9" from the ground.
>front squat
nah in most cases, it’s more similar zercher squat/deadlift than a fs
What about glutes?
>your body position is much closer to a front squat than a deadlift
You need to pick it up like a deadlift in the first place to even get into that position
t. stone lifter
stones are fun,
bulgarian SS leaning forward, leg press with specific stance, hack squat, squat, pendulum squat, RDLs
all sorts of rows, back hyperextension,
stimulates muscle equal or greater than a deadlift, in half the time, without frying you SNS
deadlift is a party trick
If the load that your stressing the muscle with is higher, then muscle wont be stimulated to the same degree
>bulgarian SS leaning forward, leg press with specific stance, hack squat, squat, pendulum squat, RDLs
Or you could just do deadlifts lmao stay small dyel
Standard DLs aren't for hypertrophy. The "shotgun effect" you get from deadlifts is for dyels
They'll work more muscle and thus build more muscle then any other lift, except for, maybe, squats. Also hypertrohy is a rep range and releated to tut, not specifc movements.
thus spoketh the powersharter
You'll work lots of muscle but with little stimulation which is why you need isolation. Romanian DL, Back hyperextensions, nordic curls, shrugs/farmers walks btfo Std DLs for hypertrophy and will not frick your shit up. There are better hip hinges than Std DL for life and sports performance in almost every case.
Yeah i could do all that or I could just deadlift heavy? Are you a fricking idiot?
L-LE CORE!
Trap bar>
It’s solid but only with the low handles. High handle trap bar has no ROM.
Why can't barbell deadlift gays just accept that their using a dinosaur outdated compound movement and that you're missing out on better gains from other exercises? Unless you lift competitively it's fricking useless. The only good thing about it still is for newbie gains on a full body split in the beginning. Imagine being an experience lifter and STILL relying on barbell deadlifts. LOL.
My back is in great shape, which I attribute to deadlifts keeping is strong and healthy. People who don’t deadlift always whine about muh back because their backs are in constant pain due to weakness, and if they tried to deadlift heavy, they would indeed go to snap city since they don’t have the base of strength built up. However, if you gradually work your way up to deadlifting 500+ pounds, you sure as hell aren’t going to get hurt picking up a box at work or some shit.
And from a hypertrophy standpoint (gay), they are the only glute exercise you need AND you get a lot of hamstrings, lower back, traps, and forearms out of it too.
Deadlifts are a great lift for developing your erectors and midsection, but are pretty mediocre when it comes to glute and hamstring hypertrophy.
what about RDL?
it has helped me in BJJ
Here’s why I deadlift.
1. It’s kinda fun.
2. Apparently it builds more muscle than almost any lift. Maybe it’s 2nd to the squat? IDK.
3. It’s a compound lift, it builds shoulder, arm and back muscles, in addition to glutes and hamstrings, grip strength, and of course it strengthens the lower back.
I’m pro deadlift but it doesn’t build fricking shoulders you cretin. Unless you count traps as shoulders, in which case have a nice day.
There's probably some rear delt hypertrophy from the isometric tension.
There definitely is because I've had great rear delt DOMS after a heavy DL day.
Sometimes I even feel it in my chest
>deadlift
>chest
what
Add a shrug at the end and it hits the traps hard.
Hex Bar dead lifts are clutch.
1. Sure, do the lifts you enjoy. I can get behind that
2. Squats and deadlift meme doesn't provide most muscle building stimulus
3. Are you moronic?
Source on the stimulus claim all you morons parrot
>There are far better back focused exercises to grow your back.
deadlifts aren't a back exercise, if you're feeling them in your back you're doing it wrong.
>You can do specific exercises to target glutes far better than deadlift can
no, deadlifts are pretty much the best glute exercise, there are alternatives of course, there are alternatives for literally everything.
>Deadlift looks like a worthless powershitter ego lift
all lifts are ego lifts you don't need to be muscular for anything in 2022.
>deadlifts aren't a back exercise, if you're feeling them in your back you're doing it wrong.
I learned this the hard way. Now I squeeze my shoulder blades together as hard as I can to remind myself not to lift with my lower back like a moron.
Surely you can't go heavy then without your shoulders being pulled down?
Have fun snapping your spine when you need to lift a heavy object off the ground in everyday life
You won't snap your spine regardless unless you have bad form. You simply won't lift it if it's too heavy. Keeping good form is all you need to not kill your spine
Why do copers always say dl is useless and then list the 7 exercises you have to do to replace it?
lol this
Unless you only do df you're likely doing a plan that already hits most of the muscles df hits. The only missing ones would likely be focused on your glutes or hamstrings which are easy to come up with.
No one that pisses and moans about deadlifts being bad are bigger or stronger than me. I don't care about your ideas or research I care about results and that's what I get from the deadlift.
I enjoy them
it is arguably the most common and basic movement pattern (picking something up off the floor/ hip hinging). If you can't see the value in training a foundational movement like this you are literally reatrded.
see
Deadlift is a very artificial movement.
Zerchers are closest to natty
What your telling is theb is you havent had to pick up heavy things for a living.
one legged kettle bell deadlifts are superior. frick using barbells for anything
It is pretty redundant after x amount of kg for people who don't give a shit about DLs for competition. DLs have little carryover for sport performance like running or jumping (in fact they make you worse at both) while being extremely fatigue prone and risky (shearing force + spinal compression = inherently shitty lift for your back even with good form).
Seems like all the thick bros did deads
I do it but im still afraid of snapping. But i record and look at my form. And i avoid going for "that last one"'or 1 rep pr's , focus on 5-8 reps. Hopefully stay healthy
It fixes my posture and stopped all the upper back pain and tension
Idc heavy deadlifts feel amazing, and if your lower back hurts it means that your form is shit and you should work on it
not everyone is made for DL or Bench.
>and if your lower back hurts it means that your form is shit and you should work on it
Can’t wait for you to snap your shit up moron, enjoy the wheelchair
I have never hurt my back DL'ing. Are you guys just moronic?
I get DOMs in my mid back day or so after deadlifting. Am i doing it wrong?
You are probably doing too much heavy volume so your form at the end is suffering. Deadlifts has you and fork is You only need a few increasing warmnup sets ans one heavy working set.
I hurt my back deadlifting for the first time a few weeks ago. I was repping 225kg and didn't notice that the weight landed a little outside my pulling range and let go of the bar when initiating the lift, I finished the set before I noticed that I strained my back. I was recovering really quickly and then really fricked myself with an Overhead Press. I'm pretty sure it's my sciatic and tibial nerves that are trapped right now. I should be alright in about a week. Can't wait to deadlift again.
I was just unlucky with that deadlift session but OHP'ing was moronic in that fricking state. I deserved this.
The deadlift is the single best exercise to hit the entire body.
Deadlfts wete the exercise that rehabilitated my back qfter it was injuted in an auto accident.
It’s the most functional lift.
Stop being a weak pussy.
Dilate some more
I picked up my riding mower the other day and carried it back to the shed because the axle had broken.
RDLs and reverse-hypers
I fixed my form and make my ass go lower than usual. Keeps my back straight, and can deadlift much more now.
If you calf rope it helps with flanking the calf
what is with the pointless thread repeats like this?
frick off demoralizer
Just did a 3x5 set of deadlifts today. Felt great.
Do you do deadlifts on leg day? Very important question.
I do deadlifts on deadlift day and I do squats on squat day and my calves were bigger than most guys before I ever started the gym
based fatty
but I have visible abs and obliques anon
Wouldn't recommend it.
Kys
Everytime I do them I get a bad back, tried paying a professional to help me with form still get a bad back without fail. Never doing them again
deadlift gets u bigger than any other lift
brainlets wont understand how
1. It‘s the most primal, masculine and functional lift
2. It recruits more muscles than any other lift
3. It‘s the most anabolic lift. Releases testosterone and HGH which aid in muscle building
It‘s also the most fun lift since you can use the most weight, and I always get a huge boost in my mood for the whole rest of the day after performing deadlifts
>It‘s the most anabolic lift. Releases testosterone and HGH which aid in muscle building
Complete broscience
It's funny how it's actual science but you're the one calling it bro science
It's the bro's claiming deadlift doesn't build muscle
Show me the science, I guarantee you any increase will be negligible
This can be said for any lift, why do X when you can do Y to train a certain muscle.
You do you bro, but you seem insecure about getting mogged by deadlift chads to me by making this thread in the first place.
"Oh no, a car ran over my child and they are pinned underneath! If only I could find a way to get underneath and benchpress the car off of them" said no one ever
"Oh no, a car ran over my child and they are pinned underneath! If only the car was a barbell positions 9 inch from the ground with perfect spots for me to grip" said no one ever
Hey deadliest catch, how's that bait taste
It's nice to train compound lifts just so you have a good strength foundation even if you're not a powershitter. I've always loathed DLs on account of my long torso and short limb body type. I started to like them again once I started pulling sumo. Now they're my primary glute and erecter exercise.
I do deadlifts for cardio
>IST calling deadlifts a meme
>Every huge guy swears by them
hmmm
You will never have big spinal erectors
>Outside of powershitting what is the point of the deadlift?
Ruining your back
What's the point when I can use lower weight with isolation exercises and get the same effect?
It only takes one tiny lapse in concentration and deadlifts will cripple you
Wow didn't know this was DYEL central over here
If you've been lifting less than 5 years GTFO and lurk more please
Post nose, you won't.
>Dude trust me, deadlifts will blow up your forearms, abs and back.
If you like running or jumping performance the std DL will make you worse at both which is another reason it sucks ass for pretty much anyone except powershitters.
People who push the deadlift are connected to the iron weight industry. The only point of the deadlift is to push people to go out and have to buy $1000 worth of plates just to compete at a high level. These same people will ridicule you for doing lower weight isolations. Use your brain, their noses are more hooked than your local bankers.
Does this shit board still have an army of DYEL spergs shouting S-B-DL?
DL is ass, RDL/SLDL are acceptable mass builders.
DL is the DYEL fave because it allows you to lift heavy and because people think fatigue and muscle pain = A lot of growth.
Power cleans >>> deadlifts
just do full cleans tbh, but most people lack the flexibility for a proper front rack and front squat
Just do RDLs tbh
Deadlift are shit for bodybuilding
I'll snap my back if i do RDLs at my DL weight
>bu.. but muh numbers
your tiny brain on IST
