that's a lie, if you do any work, you know if you lift shit without contracting your abs you will frick up your back, back pain is just a symptom of a weak core, stupid people often frick up their back because they don't use their core to maintain the spine straight during a lift, but you are probably a fat frick that doesn't do much work, so your wouldn't know.. why do you think crossfitters have meme abs? because they do a lot of unstable and jerk exercises, their cores get beat to death every session, if they don't use their cores they will retire pretty early with a bad back

It's pretty much the best core exercise. If you can get to the point you're doing 10minutes of planks your abs will look amazing.

if you want to train core get a pair of these. do an L sit and then rotate into a handstand and then back to an L sit.
