Please explain to me, calmly and without prejudice, why I should train my legs?

Please explain to me, calmly and without prejudice, why I should train my legs?

I’ve been lifting for a couple of years, I did leg day maybe 2-3 times in total. Don’t see the point. I have a pretty swole upper body at this point, and I regularly get mires and compliments. Girls love my body and don’t fricking care about legs.

The only time someone EVER mentioned my lack of legs was one time when I went to the beach with my buddies, after a chest workout and had a massive pump. People kept talking about how jacked I am and one dyel friend was jelly and said I have chicken legs. I just laughed it off and said yeah that’s right they don’t grow (lol).

Why bother? Please no meme replies, this is a genuine question. Let’s keep this discussion civil. There is no need to be upset.

Additionally, at any point I can just start squatting and my legs will grow in a few months and catch up. Legs grow much faster anyway.

    You should train calves

      Anonymous

It's good for your joints and will go a long way in helping you to be able to do things like stand and walk later in life. You don't need to go crazy, but you should absolutely work your legs and especially your calves for health reasons.

Do these digits proved that calves are integral to good health? How do I defeat the tendon israelite who seeks to rob me of calf micro tears?

        Anonymous

Heavy eccentrics 2-3 times per week and daily high volume, low intensity movements on the tendon. Only way to fully strengthen and heal tendons. Dietwise eat foods high in collagen and eat plenty of vitamin c alongside it. You can supplement it too if you want

neglecting them entirely will cause you to stagnate on other lifts i.e if your glutes are weak as shit you won't be able to squeeze properly for the overhead press.

that being said, women do not look at your upper legs, and this is backed by scientific studies, anyone that says otherwise is coping.

I feel like this is a meme. I press 55kg for 4x10, can probably do it with 1 plate on a good day. Never used my glutes to squeeze the weight, and physically/anatomically I don’t see how that even makes sense. Regardless, I’m obviously not into strength training and don’t really see the point in going over 1 plate for that many reps.

try it you'll feel the difference in your performance.

lifts such as t-bar rows or any other bend over row that isn't supported also suffers if your legs are limiting you, but you don't need big legs to have strong legs.

This image is why I ONLY train back of the head. It’s obvious from this pick I can get 10% of all women this way because it shows clearly here that it weights in at >10% importance

Imagine caring this much about women that you skip the most critical muscle groups to health, and even the aesthetics to such a degree. I want the sexiest physique I can, and legs can't be skipped for it. Teardrop chads where you at?

Also, thanks to never skipping legs, my proportions are a little goofy. I could use quite a bit more arm and shoulder mass, so any redpills on that? I'm trying desperately to work on them now, but I feel that's a better problem to have than having stick legs.

        you won't post body.

legs don't impact how you look, because no one looks at them to begin with, they spend more time looking at your feet than your upper legs.

If you insist. Strength wise ican do like 70s for 6-8 reps on split squats, and of course I can't neglect them for my athletic pursuits.
          >dyel
I don't give a frick, stick it up the butt. I know I look better than I would if I neglected them entirely, and I feel like a Chad by default whenever I'm around normies, and even certain other Chad adjacent people. I feel ljke i deserve the hot b***hes and i manage to charm them easily (my face and height help also but still). I can't imagine not having a properly balanced physique. I will no doubt MOG everyone on this board within 2 years, and on that day, I'll cite never skipping legs as part of my ascension to glory, as the strength of my thighs was what carried me (I am totally gonna start favoring torso over them but at least mine are where they should be)

appreciate that you actually posted your body, you aren't dyel, that being said you aren't very aesthetic, but in your case I think that training legs would be beneficial as the lower portion of your torso seems to be wider than the top and larger legs would make it seem more align.

you can likely resolve the hourglass-esque shape by focusing on your lats as well, I can't see how they're shaped in the back but if you're lucky you might be able to fill out the gap that you have between your wider lower torso and the top.

Cartoonists always draw a disproportionately large upper body when they want a character to look strong and masculine because that is what humans are hardwired to view as an impressive male physique.

Good cardio leads to a healthy life.

Legs lead to better cardio. Running, jump rope, etc...

Upper body is mostly just for 'mirin.

Most people don't need to lift super heavy objects in life. But everyone needs a maximally healthy heart to live longer. Legs do that.

    1) When you're much older, if you've been consistently training legs, you'll have better strength and balance than other elderly people and you'll be able to be self sufficient while other people in your age group can't live at home anymore due to being so weak
    2) It'll help you in any athletic endeavor if you're playing sports with friends. It's embarrassing to be the most jacked guy in the group and still get scored on
    3) It helps prevent major injuries from things like falls and car accidents because it makes the bones in your legs stronger and you never know when life is going to frick you over in that way
    4) If by chance you have a bigger waist, it'll make your physique look even better because it'll give you the illusion of a smaller waist and give you a better flow to your physique

      >4) If by chance you have a bigger waist, it'll make your physique look even better because it'll give you the illusion of a smaller waist and give you a better flow to your physique
It will give you an X shape at best. Bad advice for aesthetics imo

        Anonymous

It's common knowledge in the bodybuilding world that guys with naturally bigger waists need to prioritize their legs, shoulders, and lats to compensate for it. An x-frame is better than a box frame. If you blow up just the shoulders and lats then you won't look as balanced as if you'd also done your legs in that specific circumstance. A lot of going from a decent physique to a great one is a matter of illusion, proportions, and balance so you have a good flow

For nordic whites like myself training legs is insanely easy, if i do upper body vs lower body at ratio 5:1 my lower body would still be waaaay ahead. All i ever do in terms of lower body, except when its secondary muscle activation, is sprint and walking and thats enough, when i used to do squats it frickin wrecked my CNS.

      Anonymous

I'm not full Nordic but I definitely find legs to be very easy. I only hit like 3 exercises on leg day 1 time per week and that's enough to cover my bases.

yeah dyels that barely lift or not at all dont understand proportions and think this guy has no legs but its just simply the proportions are off balance because of the clothes hes wearing. where a pathetic dyel this doesnt happen because when they show lots of upper body well they are twigs just like the start of the front of the bone below the knee lol so it looks normal.. dyels always out themselves with the leg comments

Do whatever the frick you want. The "skip leg day" is mostly a meme and people don't give the frick they say they give for legs.
Just think if anyone really cares if women skip upper body day.
However, you miss being the most symmetric and the most aesthetic you can be.
Plus, since your calves (along with arms) are the part of the body you show the most in everyday clothes, if you have them developed you'll look much more like you lift than if you don't. Nice calves give a "this guy certainly plays a sport" look.
I, for one, work them once a week (but very heavily) and they seem to catch up nicely with my upper body.

tl;dr: yes, it's important, but people seem to care much more than they do because of the meme.

I love how none of the people talking about symmetry and aesthetics post their body ITT.

symmetry isn't actually attractive, 'even development' doesn't look good, it just makes you look like a cookie cutter bloated gymcel.

If all you care about is looking pretty then I guess yeah skip legs, but if you want to have any sort of practical strength you absolutely need to have strong legs (especially glutes)
