As a physician that went to a Caribbean school, I can assure you there are plenty of great physicians that come out of there, even more so than burger schools. There are plenty of morons that get into burgerland schools because of bias toward women and minorities, even when they don't deserve it. And once those morons get in, there's about 100% chance they will become physicians no matter how stupid or incompetent they are. However, from foreign schools about half of those don't get residency spots due to severe discrimination by program directors who want burgerland grads, no matter how moronic they are. So for your personal information, I would much rather trust a foreign graduate who went to a solid residency program over any Black person or woman doctor who went to a burgerland school

Elevated LDH cholesterol doesn't do shit if you're not obese or have diabetes.
There's not evidence that a high-cholesterol diet causes higher blood cholesterol (your body just gets rid of the excess cholesterol).
The most important factor for atherosclerosis is not cholesterol or saturated fat, but inflammation, which is caused by obesity and a shitty (e.g. high fructose corn syrup) diet.
That being said, high triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol are not good.

A few different girls, but I've tested clean after all of them. It's still white, just really thick and with reduced volume. Smells like cum, so not good but certainly not foul. I'm very well hydrated, and doing any combination of nofap, nonut, edging, all has no effect.

This might sound gay, but try stimulating your prostate before you cum and see if it makes any difference. Could be something wrong with your prostate since that's what creates the liquid part of cum.

Does low bf lower your test? Whenever I'm super lean at 10-12% bf I barely get it up anymore, no random boners, etc.
When I'm fatter I feel much hornier.

Also my cum has been slightly yellow basically since I could think. Anything wrong with that?

      Anonymous

Peak test is around 12-15% bf, below that it goes down, but at 10% it shouldn't make a big difference. Maybe it's more low energy or lack of some nutrients, rather than low test.
Also, nothing wrong with your cum, it can get slightly yellow especially if you haven't cum in a while.

21 year old male, don't smoke but drink
Over past week my chest has been feeling a little heavy sometimes and I've been getting chills either feel hot or cold. I'm tired havent been able to sleep well, sometimes can't breathe deeply, and feel nauseous. Tested myself for fever and I haven't had one. Urine is kinda foamy but I cant tell if thats just from dehydration since its not always really foamy. Also might have lupus or some nerver problem because sometimes a small area on the left side of my face feels numb or tingly sometimes and when it does i often also feel very hot and have a headache or feel sick. That has been happening for about a year. How fricked am I?

      Anonymous

I'd suggest you get your urine checked. Foamy urine could be proteinuria, which is a sign for a damaged kidney (something which lupus can also cause).
The tingling in your face, is it always associated with a headache? Is that headache only on one side of your head? If you answer yes to both of those you might just have migraine with aura.

        Anonymous

The tingling is not always with the headache only sometimes, and its like a pressure all around my head when it does happen. Started almost a year ago when i felt left side of my face get kinda numb and I got really sick for like a month with headches whenever I was standing up for too long, they would go away after I lied down for a bit. They don't always happen at the same time and its not the full side of my face just a section of it and its always the same area.

          Anonymous

Okay i see. Could be an atypical form of migraine (there's loads of different ones). Another possibility could be cluster headache.

How fast do melanomas grow/spread? I have a mole that I'm somewhat concerned could be cancerous but I can't go to the doctor and get it checked for six months, wondering if it'll be too late by then.

      Anonymous

The most common type doesn't grow fast, it can take years to become invasive.
Check for these signs: Are there different colours (lighter and darker parts) in the mole? Is the shape irregular (not round/oval)? Has it grown a lot recently?
These are all signs that would make it more likely a melanoma instead of just a normal mole.

        Anonymous

Yeah, the mole has definitely grown over time, is somewhat asymmetrical, and has developed a scabby top. Don't have health insurance and can't afford to go to the doctor now though.

What are your thoughts on sunscreen and the modern consensus (not entirely sure if it is the consensus amongst doctors but I see it pushed more often than not) that sun exposure is harmful and causes cancer? Also on that note, do you think poor modern diets have at all contributed to people getting sunburnt rather than tan?

      Anonymous

Good question. You don't need a lot of sun for your daily vitamin-D dose, 10-20min full body without sunscreen is usually enough, for people with darker skin it takes more.
I've read that chemical sunscreen might increase estrogen, so if you have to use some use physical one (zincoxide-based).
On the topic of people getting sunburnt, I think it's because people go from working in a dark office room the entire year going on holidays and lying in the sun for ours without anything inbetween. You need to gradually let your skin get used to the sun. Spend more time outside during spring, protect yourself from the sun during summer until you have a decent tan, then you can tolerate a bit more sun. In the end we are whitoids, who are used to live in the dark forests, so we shouldn't spend too much time in the sun.

I have type 1 diabetes, at night my blood sugar skyrockets to <400mg/dl. I guess it’s like a psycho version of dawn phenomenon. What can I do, other than waking up at 1-3 am and taking insulin, to mitigate this? Already on omnipod

      Anonymous

Omnipod should give you the best level of glucose control medically possible. Only thing that's going to treat that is insulin, but depending how long those levels last I would be careful not to make yourself hypoglycemic. Short periods of high glucose won't kill you, but over decades you'll probably get long term side effects

        Anonymous

Also, shouldn't the pump automatically adjust to your glucose levels?

Keep track of your glucose levels throughout the night. If they're consistently high all night maybe your doctor can give you long acting or intermediate acting insulin you can take before you go to bed. In they only get up for an hour or two then I would just live with it

Ok doctoranon please help a zoomer out. I am past the peak of puberty (19 y.o) but still have a significant amount of acne on my face, upper back and upper chest. I have gone to the dermatologist and used all of the creams they prescribe and those do not seem to accomplish anything. I have also experimented with my diet (e.g. cutting out fats, sugars, etc.) and have seen modest results. I am in very good physical shape. Will this shit go away or am I screwed for a few more years? Is there anything I can do?

One thing to note is that I am an incredibly sweaty mfer and I live in a very humid climate. Furthermore I have always had really oily skin, but neither of my parents had acne at my age. However I shower regularly with cold water and just normal soap. Cheers and good luck with exams.

I'm not sure the amount of acne on my face calls for actuate at the moment, but if it worsens I will definitely have to consider it. Does accutane actually "cure" acne or is it just a temporary treatment? I've heard being on that medicine for a long time can frick with your head.

Not op, but am 19 too and my acne went away like 5 years ago when i changed my diet. Research about it and urine therapy too

Ok interesting. For me, growing up I drank a lot of milk, like half a gallon a day (haha SS+gomad). I've cut milk pretty much entirely at the moment. I eat a very "clean" diet, basically exclusively venison, vegetables, fruits, and bread. I've noticed the acne is worse when I am in a caloric surplus, but there could be other factors, so I won't jump to conclusions. Thanks for the tip thought, will keep experimenting.

it completely clears acne 100% i've haven't had any acne for years. only the occasional pimple if i don't wash my face after a workout. the only thing left afterwards will be any acne scars which can be removed with microneedling.

Accutane is a last resort, it can increase liver enzymes and make you depressed. It really fricks your skin if you get too much sun, so make sure you always put on sunscreen.
That being said, I was on Accutane myself and it fixed my acne completely within a year and I never had any problems again with it, no side effects from it either.

You don't know how antibiotics work. You think that all antibiotics kill your gut bacteria? Why would an antibiotic which is used to kill bacteria that live in your skin, also damage bacteria that live in your gut? Those bacteria are completely different.

seems to me like you're the one who has no idea how antiotics work, 6 years of med school for what? i suggest you touch up on current literature before you go doing more harm than good making people susceptible to chronic physical and mental health illnesses, all because you hand out antibiotics like candy

            >"We didn't expect to see this effect with tetracyclines and macrolides, as these antibiotic classes were considered to have only bacteriostatic effects – which means that they stop bacterial growth, but don't kill bacteria," said Camille Goemans, a postdoctoral fellow in the Typas group who shares first authorship with Maier. "Our experiments show that this assumption is not true for about half of the gut microbes we studied. Doxycycline, erythromycin, and azithromycin, three commonly used antibiotics, killed several abundant gut microbial species, whereas others they just inhibited."

I'll tell you what worked for me: Vitamin B5.
Has anyone actually had their acne CURED by all these creams & pills derms hand out? I've never known anyone who has. The only thing that works (and only 50% of the time) is accutane, and this shit is poison. I took it for a month as a teenager & it caused the most fricked up back & joint pain I've ever experienced.
Vitamin B5 has done it for me, specifically in the form of pantethine. Its more expensive than plain pantothenic acid, but since its the active form, it works much faster. Other nutrients to consider are: Zinc, L-carnitine fumarate, & niacinamide. Good luck zoomer bro.

OP here, for your stage of acne I'd suggest topical benzoic acid, topical retinoid and oral antibiotic (erythromycin).

I have used benzoic acid and erythromycin in the past. Hard to say if they worked well since that was during peak of pubescent hormonal activity.

Fish/seafood is really good, any type, even fattier fish like sardines and salmon. Fish increases HDL cholesterol, which literally transports other cholesterol away from your body to remove it.
There's also some studies saying that vitamin E rich foods can fasten the reversal of NAFLD.
Fish also keeps you satiated for quite long since it's protein.

Can I be a healthy vegan with only eating smoothies with oats, peaprotein, avocado oil and spirulina among other fruits and greens?

No. Plant iron (Fe3+) cannot be digested only iron from animal products (Fe2+). Spirulina is a very bad source of vitamin B12 and won't prevent a deficiency. Plant proteins have a worse bioavailability than animal proteins and have worse amino acid profiles. You won't be able to eat the amount of protein to make up for this, unless you want to constantly shit and fart.
Another thing to consider: Our monkey ancestors only started growing large brains when they started eating meat.
