They just probably started with the bar for form. When you are DYEL first time going to the gym, putting metal over your head might be scary.

I don't train the PRESS™ (3.0). I train the original without the hip movement.

That being said, I am weak at 5x1 137.5lbs on intensity days currently, started with the bar, a little over a year

Posting picture of your shoulders should be obligatory if you post your THE PRESS™ stats in this thread

I can lift 70kg for 3 at 81kg and 5'11 (unironically this is my height). My shoulders aren't anything special without good lighting or sweat. A good cut and .5 bw press is almost the only thing required to have good look shoulders.

I got back to lifting after 5 years this year, preceded by 3 months of calisthenics, and it's 110lbs for 5x5 at 140lbs BW. used to be 155lbs for 5 reps at 165BW when I was in my twenties

log press 190 for 3-5 now
did 95 for 3x5 on a regular bar first time I tried
I've been lifting off and on for 5 years, but was doing 165 for 3-5 reps on a regular bar about 2 years in.
    ~220 body weight and 6'4" with a 6'6" reach.

1RM is 265 as of last month, almost at 275
Started at 185lbs on the bar.
Don‘t want to say how long it took, as most will cry foul, but weighted calisthenics at my weight really helped a lot.

Good lift, brother. Solid form. Good shoe selection.
Might be the angle, but your right wrist looks less stacked than the other side. Could be bleeding a bit of power in that spot.

Now that's some fricking SHKRENGTH. You are in some elite category.
Never seen anyone do 2pl8 OHP for reps irl, let alone 265-275.

you mogged every single DYEL that waddled past the frame. Miring hard.

I dont, its a pointless excercise for egolifters
it takes away valuable time and energy from other lifts that actually target the muscles I want to grow

110kg atm, progress is really starting to slow down seeing as I've been at it for years (hit 100kg 1rm 2 years ago now). Also pretty mediocre considering I'm 117 kg with abs (2m height). Sometimes I envy shorter guys because they can hit the true limits of natty strength, meanwhile I rock close to 50cm arms and have barely advanced lifts ree

Oh and starting point was around 65 kg 1rm, that must be 5.5 years ago at this point. Went to 80kg in the first year, then 90kg in 2nd, and hit 100kg halfway through year 3. Could have been faster if I hadn't stayed lean I guess

2nd addendum: did general fitness (pullups and light dumbbells) before starting on barbell lifts, so effectively I probably "lifted" already 5.5 yrs ago

Remember guys, Sir Rippetoe, founder of THE PRESS™ has stated that military should have a standard of a 0.75x bodyweight THE PRESS™ for males.
    >As a 200 pound male, you should be pressing 150lbs for 1rm.
Essentially 1pl8 THE PRESS™ is where the bare minimum starts for an adult male that is not victim weight in his eyes.
