Are there any studies that show that bigger neck muscles actually make it more difficult to knockout somebody?
Yeah. If some 250 pound roider cold wieners you you’re still getting dropped obviously but it’s been shown to reduce the chance of concussions and whiplash too. By a decent amount I think, but I forgot the details
Do big neck muscles always cause sleep apnea? I'm a bit fat, and I think I occasionally have sleep apnea, but I'm not sure. My Dad has said he's never heard me snore, but I occasionally get a sore throat when I wake up.
this is why I stopped training neck. Mind you I gained only an inch, like my neck is not even massive but now I wake up in sweat at night.
This sucks.
Getting sleep apnea from neck training is legitimately the best possible outcome, because then you can get insurance to cover bimax surgery. Basically you get a thick neck and a better jawline at the same time
Skull size and density is also important

Why would that play a role? What knocks you out is your brain bouncing around in your skull.
A large heavy skull provides more bone mass that protects your brain from punches
Psychology influences the outcome a lot, too. I've seen people get knocked out with a homosexual punch too many times, and they all were scared as shit to get punched, so their bodies just gave in on impact. I accidentally got kneed in the head in kickboxing practice and didn't flinch, though it hurt for a week. I guess I'm not a pussy and my neck is strong as frick
Has more to do with chin tuck to reduce leverage if they get a good hit so brain doesn't rattle.
Simply knowing basic boxing defensive techniques is going to do more for you than 5 years of consistent neck training
I think it's a much more viable strategy to just train for not getting hit in the head, proper defense and evasion
the best fighters of all time have unbreakable defenses, they can't be touched. That's why they don't get knocked out
and then there's Yoel
He got knocked out https://youtube.com/watch?v=KmbZbQntgOQ
I think it looks very impressive when you can take a heavy punch from roided out boxer without getting knocked out. Being knockout proof would be pretty based.
It is impressive, absolutely
but relying on a good chin alone, you wind up like nick/nate diaz and have only a small fraction of your braincells left. Not the best strategy
Sure it's cool to be able to take massive shots to the head and stay conscious but the trade-off is that CTE sends you crazy, you kill your wife and kids in a fit of rage and then develop dementia in prison and die with Parkinson's disease by age 50
train both I think 😐
It's almost entirely genetic, not much to do with muscles. In fact if you tense up when hit on the head you might increase the force of the punch, as you absorb more of the impact
It does help to have strong neck muscles when you get dropped to stop your head from bouncing of the ground when you hit it.
