Just eat a filling meal that has plenty of protein. If I wanted to eat a candy bar I'd just eat a candy bar. If I wanted quick protein I'd drink a shake.

Ever heard of making enough for a lunch meal while making dinner the night before? Tupperware to bring on the go? Disposable utensils? You are just lazy as frick and want to spend more money on something that is moronic instead of real food.

Try making some pemmican. Just dried meat with some tallow and fruit/veg/nuts.

Sometimes I just want something purely sweet and don't care about spoilage time; goes something like this:
      Blend up greens and berries
4 eggs, whole carton (about 16 oz cottage cheese), 2tbsp of olive or sesame oil with a pinch of xanthum gum, pinch baking powder, slowly fold in psyllium husk powder and crushed nuts until it can hold a shape, you can add stevia if you'd like
Mix above two roughly (a bit of inhomogenity leads to nice texture) and bake 10m at 350F and it'll be set, chill it.

It makes 2 weeks worth of servings and very filling with huge amounts of micros and fiber that is moderately probiotic and pretty much all protein, all whole foods, and it's much lower fat. I used to like Quest a lot though, mint chocolate and white chocolate rasp were my favorite, but the polydextrin is way too fermentable and gets you gassy.

i just make my own out of ground up and blended nuts, seeds, oats, dried fruit, whey powder and cacao powder. doesn't taste as good as store bought but cheaper and i can control the amount of protein in them

These are trash because the extremely high amount of fiber inhibits the absorption of the protein

Frick off. First it's the ones with too much sugar inhibit the absorption of protein. Then it's the ones with too much fiber. You know what buddy. You can absorb my protein straight from the source.

I’ve always tried to enjoy protein bars, but it ends up just becoming a dessert snack for me.

    >after eating a normal meal with good macros
    >hmmm how about something a tad sweet but healthy?
    >protein bar of course!

So at the end of the day they just frick me up because I bust over calories. I don’t ever snack between meals (I found that extremely helpful for maintaining a lean weight), so the only time to eat the damn things are at a meal. So they just don’t work for me. Same goes for protein shakes. These things are just medium calorie desserts.

They fricked em up and somehow have more net carbs and way more fiber now which makes them noxious.
      Good texture though.

These things taste terrible and will make you fart like an airbender

Quest got caught lying about their fiber content and kirkland's offshoot version didn't change the recipe. The old fiber produced a high insulin spike.

My favorite are the peanut butter chocolate protein bars they have at ALDIs. Those things are like crack.

If you have trouble gaining weight, you are guaranteed to gain weight if you eat these protein bars on a regular basis. 290 calories and 20 g protein each.

Fisherman eggs are my protein bar. More protein, better protein, tastier, and has healthy fats from the fish and all the micros that are in egg yolk.
