New to bodybuilding but weary of the industrial chemicals in certain supplements. Is protein powder good or should I avoid it?

Yes it's good
No funny business with oestrogen and all that included in it?
Its just food Black person, read the label. Buy with without soi and other fillers. Unflavored of course.
been on this moronic board for years and still cant tell if people like you are baiting or really this fricking stupid
>Optimal Nutrition
Shit ingredients. "Natural flavors" are cancerous and unregulated, shit has sugar too and some other garbage. Just eat meat, pussy.
>Natural flavors" are cancerous and unregulated, shit has sugar
>ever tried to not buy the cheapest powder you poor homosexual?
why the frick is this exact picture posted with the exact same flavor all the time? shills?
It's literally the first image that pops up when you google search protein powder, moron.
kys shill
Avoid whey honestly, go for beef protein isolate
That shit turns my Greek yogurt into extra thick pudding, I don't like it
What's wrong with whey?
Nothing, most of the morons here don't know what they're talking about. I'm also included in that group of tards except I'm not dumb enough to think whey protein is bad for you.
>Is protein powder good or should I avoid it?
It has estrogen in it.
It's nice to avoid all that other crap they put in it, but helping to meet your protein requirements is a greater concern.
anon it's literally just powdered milk, unless you're lactose intolerant you'll be fine
>anon it's literally just powdered milk
More like 50% powdered low fat milk. They split the casein and whey after they remove the fat and charge you four times the price for each half. 🙂
am natty DYEL and I have been lifting for 4 months and made some decent progress. I just bought pic related; how did I do? I plan on adding pine pollen and ashwaghanda to it which I already have but have not been taking
buy cheaper creatine next time, it's all the same shit. Just find the cheapest stuff that you can. Good job buying a big shaker, I regret only getting an 18 ounce shaker. This is more of an opinion but if you're strapped for cash and DYEL it's better to buy more cheap protein powder so you can use more and have it for longer. Once you get into the intermediate/advanced stage you'll be able to tell the difference with the higher quality stuff
Buy dymatize you can get a 5lb on Amazon for like 50 bucks my homie. Its a good post workout and goos meal replacement if you blend with banana peanut butter or any other shit you like.
Seriously I need help. I am skinny fat that my arms and legs are too thin while all the fat stored on my belly. What can I do, does these weight gainer powder help?
if you're concerned just buy straight whey isolate with no sweeteners or flavoring. Might be whataboutism but imo there's nothing in protein powder that can hurt you any more than the microplastics in the water
Lots of conflicting opinions above, here's a few more tidbits to confuse you:
1) These supplements are entirely unregulated, so anything goes.
2) This means that the advertised protein on the label doesn't mean shit. Lots of morons here just say, "LOL READ THE LABEL," but some brands can have as little as 50% of the actual advertised protein
3) "Just buy trusted/popular brands" is the second most moronic thing spouted on these types of threads as a lot of the popular brands are shit anyway.
4) Some brands contain over the FDA/EFSA limits for some heavy metals and you wouldn't even know it since it's unregulated.
5) It's not even a cheap source of protein anymore as prices have skyrocketed.
6) Whole foods are better the vast majority of situations.
7) Even if you do find one that you can independently verify is legit and clean, it may not stay that way from batch to batch. Anyone here can attest to taste suddenly changing in their favorite whey brand at one point or another that they've been buying for years. That's a formula change. Could be just a swap of sweeteners, could be a protein sourcing issue, who the frick knows?
8) All that said, I'm actually not against whey and use it myself regularly (right now, in fact). You should just know what you're getting into.
It's a supplement not a food source is the answer. As people have previously replied eat whole food sources and you'll be better off.
That said I consume protein sometimes because at times it's nigh frickin' impossible to hit my protein goal without going way over on calories.
And as was stated a lot of them are untested and filled with frickin' garbage, go with the most tested and reputable source and the risk is lessened but again see paragraph one, the damage of it being bunk and you not knowing is lessened by it not being a primary food source for you.
I used ON for about 5 years and I had no complaints because they use a proper formula and it's good product but then I got a shipment from MYPROTEIN and holy fricking shit.
Bruh... You don't even understand how absolute garbage ON tastes until you try MYPROTEIN. Like it has less sugar and tastes 100000 times more delicious, to the point you can literally mix it with fricking water and it still tastes like a fricking milkshake or smth. Price is not even that different.
dude calm down a little bit with your shill posts, they're so obvious its unreal.
>Price is not even that different.
They raise the prices every 6 months and throw a bunch of 50% off codes so you think you're getting a decent discount
T. Ex Myprotein consumer
What’s IST‘s opinion on muscle milk? It’s the only stuff I can find out here at the store.
