Why do you never see baby pigeons?

Because pigeons are a type of cave dove, so their young are stashed away in alcoves till they're old enough to leave.

Planning on Cutting for Halloween, specifically want to dress up as either a jacked French Maid or a Bulked out version of Astolfo, only issue is, whilst I'm confident I can gain muscle and size within 3 months I'm still on Strong Lifts and I don't know when to switch from Strength and Compound lifting to exercises which put on Size as well as Strength.

As normally when I hit 60kg on Bench on SS I switch to 2_suns 5/3/1 5 day routine, but I've yet to stall on any of my lifts, with the exception of OHP from a Rotator Cuff Injury, think I've hit a 90Kg Deed, 80kg Squat, 60kg Bench, 40kg OHP, 52kg Barbell Row, but I still look like an absolute DYEL what should I do Anons?

      Anonymous

Given that your lifts are still quite low and you haven't haven't stalled yet, I would advise you to stay on a strength-focused routine for now and keep bulking. Fulfil your buff dress-up ideas next Halloween when you are less DYEL and can execute them better.

Women do not give a shit about your body unless it's a 12 inch penis
Women are attracted to self confidence
Just by being confident women assume you must have power and money and that's usually true
          Confidence stems from successes
I am far more attractive than my Indian next door neighbor's but I am self conscious, I work a shit job with shit pay
I can't even look women in the eyes
My fricking neighbours just walk up to any white women they see and ask for their phone number with no small talk or anything
And they always fricking get the girls number
          They own their own business
They have jet skis and motorcycles and big trucks
The women don't know this but they sense the confidence
          The confidence comes from success
          Just fake confidence

It really all comes down to your social skills, but being fit (and therefore hotter) will reduce the amount of effort you need to put in.
I'm fit enough that people comment on it but autistic enough that I can't get girls. It's pretty funny - when I first meet girls they treat me like Chad but after talking with them for more than 5 minutes they start giving me the same looks I got in high school.

How much harder would it be to get into calisthenics and flexibility if I'm fat?

      Anonymous

      Jesus Christ.

Listen fat anon. Don't worry about that.

First and foremost sort out your self control and what you eat. Once you have some discipline while cutting out shit food, sugar and slop then you can focus on exercising.
Why do lardasses have all these unachievable lofty ideas?
Start at the base, a good, clean enjoyable diet. Learn food prep, cut out the shit and build up to exercise

If you jump the gun & fantasise about calisthenics you'll fail quicker than you can polish off a box of Krispy Kreme.

      >calisthenics
Incredibly hard if you're fat. Basic movements become impossible if you're too heavy. Conversely, stringbeans can do advanced shit way early because they weigh nothing.

Whatever you fat percentage is in relation to your lean body mass, if you are 40% bf and have 10 lean body mass then everything is 30% harder, if 1 pull up is 100% effort than you would need to pull with 130% effort.
If you are say 20% lean body mass and 15 % bf then that means that everything is 5 % easier.

Source I made it up but is a good analogy, more fat= slower harder to achieve progress.

      ~17% body fat (41cm neck, 90cm waist)
      Am I skinny fat?
      Should I cut or bulk?

      90cm waist at 185cm, 82kg is a bit rotund. I'm 191cm, 91kg with a 89cm waist and am approaching cut territory.

I've started lifting for a few weeks and I see there's nice progress. However I'm still a fat frick with a BMI of 26. Should I keep lifting and keep bulking or try to first cut to a more healthy BMI?

Look up "body recomp". Eat at maintenance, or a slight deficit, with a high protein diet and train as normal. The gains may be slower and you won't be able to handle as much volume as someone in a surplus, but you will build muscle and lose fat simultaneously.

Are you a beginner? I don't know your lifts are but I'd cut, I think it would be premature to bulk. I'm 187cm, 82kg 40cm neck 83cm waist, will be bulking shortly. I do mainly calisthenics but switching it up now so feel free to disregard if you are a powerlifter or something.

Unless you are already at 90% of what you will ever achieve there will be no discernable difference in when you eat your carbs.

Is there any difference between completing all sets of a movement before moving to the next movement versus doing 1 set of each movement then starting the second sets?

Spend x gas doing first lift, y doing second, z doing third. Vs. Spend x gas doing one set of each lift, y doing second set, z doing third. If it seems like what I am saying has a subtle difference, that's because it is. And it's not hugely important. Comes down to your preference and what works for you. That being said, I would rather use my energy doing heavy compounds than isolations. So I avoided isolation before I'm done with compounds.

How common is it to lose strength when on a cut? Let's say you deadlift "x", but then next week you can only deadlift 0,95x

      Anonymous

How much strength you lose (and whether you actually lose any) depends on how advanced you are. Less than a year of lifting you may not lose any strength at all unless you had quite an aggressive cut. Generally speaking it's the lifts that most benefit from bodyweight that suffer, like the press and bench press.

        Anonymous

    >Low doses of fructose are ~90% cleared by the intestine, with only trace fructose but extensive fructose-derived glucose, lactate, and glycerate found in the portal blood. High doses of fructose (≥1 g/kg) overwhelm intestinal fructose absorption and clearance, resulting in fructose reaching both the liver and colonic microbiota.
If you weigh 80kg, you can eat 80g of fructose per meal without any ill effects.
80g of fructose is about 1.5 cups table sugar.
Is Lustig full of shit btw? He says only the liver does it and any fructose consumption is detrimental.

    ok dumb question:
I've been really wanting to get into some kind of combat sport like muay thai or maybe bjj, but my problem is that I have really bad eyesight and wear glasses 24/7, any of you participate in these sports with the same issue? How do you work around it?

      Anonymous

Do you want to do it for sports or are you imagining yourself actually fighting? If you want to do it for sports, bad eyesight is usually not an issue. I have bad eyesight too but your opponent is usually close enough that you can see everything which matters real well. Just take off your glasses.

If you want to get into fights, fricking don't. You'll get yourself rekt. I am dead serious here. You know how most fights go? One guy sucker punches the other so hard that he doesn't have a chance to hit back. And if that fails, the other guy pulls a knife or gun and kills the first guy. That's how real fights go, none of this Steven Seagal bullshit. Ever been on the phone with a 911 operator, watching your blood pouring out of you, aware that you are dying and there's nothing you can do about it? Want to experience it? Then get into fights.

Lost 44lbs in 8 weeks by eating healthier, fasting and exercising everyday and i want to lose another 33lbs in the next six weeks.
Am i pushing myself too hard?
I feel relly good overall. No cravings at all and not a single cheat day. Actually i wouldn't mind never eating pizza or hamburgers again if it helps me keep in shape. I feel my muscles growing and getting stronger and i am addicted to the feeling.
I'm only worried about my skin. It doesn't feel flabby or loose atm but idk if it will get worse if i go so fast.

Take a break, focus on muscles. Also, look into dry fasting. One of the very few proven remedies for lose skin.

it's lame, not wort it. Basically 1 more junk item in your house.

I am not going to list the pros of using an ab wheel but here are all the CONS:
      - you are going to get one and use it 5 times and forget it. It is going to clutter your house and your mind.
      - you can do the abwheel exercise without an abwheel
      - ab wheel can only be used for 1 thing only, it's not multi functional. Doing only ab wheel for abs is meh.
      - there are 10000 other ab exercises which are equally as good
      - watch this video at x2 speed because the guy speaks slowly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njjvvgR8FhA

I don't, but if you have plates for benching just buy Olympic dumbbell bars. Much cheaper than the adjustable dumbbells. I got two for $40 each and they handle up to 115lbs

            Anonymous

No but I got the Powerblock Elites from Dicks Sporting Goods and I love them. I hear the mechanism for changing weights on the bow flex can get finicky and unreliable after a while, but the power blocks are pretty bullet proof in that regard. Sometimes you gotta push down on the handle to get the tangs to line up with the slots on the weights if you’ve set them down on a soft surface but it’s a non-issue.

            Anonymous

Yes, and I didn't really like them. They felt awkward and unbalanced in my hands and it really wasn't as convenient as you would think changing the weights in and out. The small weight plates that would hang on it after you swapped would shimmy around just slightly while working out which was an unpleasant feeling coming from a gym and full dumbbell rack. I'd rather just spend the extra money and get a rack and a variety of weights than try the jack of all trades master of none solution, but that's just my opinion.

I didn't start with SS. I didn't find IST until a year after I started lifting, when I was still eating like a moron and doing mostly iso movements with no guidance.

I've lifted for about two years now but look like I've been lifting for half that time. I barely hit 1/2/3/4 when i was 25 pounds heavier 6 months ago, but lost that weight after focusing on running for a few months, and lost a decent amount.

Should I just restart at SS even though I'm very familiar with all compound lifts and in OK shape? I'm just sick of plateaus and having no structured path towards getting the physique I want. If I have to start again at the beginning to truly progress faster, I am willing to.

maintenance is eating the exact amount of calories the body needs
deficit/cutting means less calories than the body needs
bulking (whether lean or not) by definition is more calories than the body needs. Unless you have a coach calculating the exact amount of calories down to a decimal point, you are guaranteed to put on a little fat

why aren't athletes with weight constraints doing glass cannon builds? imagine a mma fighter going into flyweight with all the weight in the legs, specifically build to carry out one motion. one leg has only done one-legged squats and toe/foot strength building, the other leg has overdeveloped TFL to contract, and very powerful extention, let everything else on the body atrophy. kick with the power of a 275lb'er in 125, who cares if you're incredibly injury prone, athletes should be willing to lay it all out there to excel. no one really dodges roundkicks either, they just block it, and given it's all you're gonna be able to do you'll be spot on with it, and because of the massive power advantage you might be able to force your preferred distance even if they see it coming.

I know you’re just trolling, but it’s because then all your opponent has to know is how to neutralize one specific thing while you would be unable to guard against all the ways they can threaten you. Versatility and adaptation are the key pillars of fighting.

do you not know how a roundhouse kick works? it's a sweep, you have to move back or counter or block, but moving back is a risk, a 125lb can't block a 275lb kick effectively, and a counter would probably never land as much damage as the kick lands on you. you could try to shoot but it could be catastrophic

Does anyone else like to wear cute panties? It’s kinda hot to have a pink g string underneath my jeans. I’m very masculine, good looking 8/10, pull women, and so forth. I have like 25 pairs or so, mostly thongs, g strings, and a few other sexy pairs. Does any other guys do this that aren’t gays?

Really? I just made sure and looked it up and people are saying to weigh raw. But asked here anyway because on MFP my burrito is 320~ calories. I don't fricking believe it because it's 1/2 the size of a chicken breast sandwich from subway and I feel hungry as frick after an hour after eating it.

Post what is in your burrito. I make 2 85/15 beef burritos with homemade tortillas (100cal each) and some Fritos. With 6oz of beef (420cal) and .75 serving of frito (113cal each) in both burritos it comes out to around 850 calories. Skip the fritos and do shredded chicken and that'll drop the calories a good bit.

I can't cook and am learning so my meals right now are really plain. Wish I took a pic of it when I ate it earlier.

I was eyeballing my condiments and sauces used and overestimated them. I just corrected everything and it's actually lower than 300cal

            >tortilla wrap 140cal store bought
            >75g chicken fillet 64cal
            >oyster sauce 1/3 tbsp 10cal
            >corn starch 1tbsp? probably less actually 30cal?
            >pico de gallo, homemade, bunch of tomatoes, chili, lime and cumin powder. Just a teaspoon, 30cal?
            >some shredded cabbage 5-10cal?
I'm cutting out corn starch in the future because I think it's pointless.

Does anyone have suggestions for easy to cook/prepare and cheap low calorie meals?

Cooking is easy, you just have to be able to follow directions. Once you get more experience you can start making adjustments. Your chicken estimate is low in the calorie department. Both my pan seared and grilled chicken entries are about 120 cals for 2.65 oz (g equivalent). That's without including oil for cooking.

              Very easy shredded chicken:
              2-4 breasts in crockpot
              1 cup of chicken broth
Cook on high for 3 hours and shed with forks.
You can put this chicken on salads, throw it in pan with some water and taco spices to make chicken for tacos. Throw other sauces on for other meals (teriyaki for Asian, bbq for American). It's very plain, but the sauces will let you make many different meals with it. 6oz is about 38 protein 4g fat and 204 calories (water weight makes this differ from the grilled/pan seared chicken measurements).

Also a key component of satisfying meals is a good ratio of proteins, fats and carbs. I used to make salads with no crutons and they got excruciating to eat. Throwing in 21g of crutons helped big league and I don't mind eating then anymore. Same with grilled chicken, put a little butter or olive oil on them when you cook to get fat on them and eat with some roasted potatoes (toss in some butter salt and pepper). Much better than grilled with no oil and plain rice.

How do you program the accessories for any 531 program?

Most people seem to do it having one push accessory (chest/shoulder/triceps), pull (back/biceps) and single leg/core per session. But I've seen somewhere that it should actually be "movement" based like for Bench day, your accessories should still be connected to benching like push: any type of horizontal push, pull: cable flyes (since you technically pull the weight) and for single leg/core: another exercise connected to bench like maybe dips. Which is the best way to do it?

I've been lifting without breaks for about 6 months. Progress is stalling on my bench, and I have a strain or something under my left scapula. Should I take a week off or adjust routine and work through it?

Take a break and find some approximate movements that won't aggravate it.

          >do OHP
          >the muscle below my left rear delt gets very tried before everything else, not the delt itself
          What am I doing wrong?

That's normal. Standing overhead press has a ton of stabilization demands. I guess what you are doing wrong is not hitting your upper back enough. You could also get around this by doing seated military press.

I've been having pain in my elbows for almost a month now. At first it just felt like some inflammation or that they were irritated, not from training but from sitting at a desk and working or whatever. The pain feels like it's most intense when the arm is fully stretched or bent. Since I've had my fair share of tendonitis and similar shit I pretty much immediately decided to stop training heavy and I only do very light work to get the blood flowing but the pain gets worse even when I don't lift at all. I went to my GP but he just told me to put an ice pack on, I've used diclofenac and ibuprofen, it's not getting any better. I have 18 years of experience with lifting but I've never had this exact issue. Now the pain isn't terrible but it's the kind of discomfort where you know that if you push through you're only making it worse. Any ideas what else to try? Any supplements, gels or whatever?

Pull-ups every day? Well I mean I guess doing twice as many training sessions is an obvious way of improving, though it would be a pain in the ass considering I don’t have a pull-up bar at home. Also wouldn’t it be kind of an overkill on my lats?

I was following that program while doing 3 day full body up to the 7rep level, never had an issue with overly tired lats. I've switched to 4 day U/L and now I don't do pull ups every day but continue to make progress. Buy a door frame bar, they're like 20-30 bucks. That's what I was using until I bought a power rack with a pull up bar.

I just started a small bulk. I want to maximize muscle growth, not worried about fat (but I don't want to gain a stupid amount either). Female, 25% bf, newbie doing home workouts every other day with a mix of bodyweight exercises, dumbbells (8 and 10lb, though using 5 for side raises), and kettlebell work (20lb). too broke for gym/barbell for a few months.

A lot of advice suggests 1-2lbs a month, but most women are paranoid about fat, so I'm not sure if it's overly conservative or appropriate.

That sounds appropriate for a small & not perfect bulk.

I think trying to bulk at that weight is not a good idea. Continue eating as you normally do, and think of it as mobility practice for when you do get access to a gym or barbell setup. Once you do, 4-5 lbs a month sounds like a good pace, so missing a pound is not going to set you back much. (Trying to balance out 1lb a month seems really hard when you factor in water weight.)

        Anonymous

i was curious if it was worth bulking without a barbell. i'll focus on figuring out maintenance, erring on the higher side to support any growth.

Beef, ground or otherwise. I've been addicted to beef burritos lately. If you can get over your egg fear, turkey meatballs are top tier. They have a lot of calories the way I make them (2 4oz meatballs are 22carbs, 40 protein, 30 fat for 540cals), but are delicious. You cab do less breadcrumb and less egg for lighter meatballs. Make some ginzo gravy and you're set. A serving of cavatelli with it makes a great bulking pre workout meal.

Metabolism is the baseline energy needed by your body to run its normal processes. Muscle uses more than fat, so you can improve your metabolism by putting on muscle. You don't have a fast metabolism just from luck, you work for it.
