Question

So there's this new keto diet trending on IST and there is people saying it's gonna help with weight loss and performance. But is this really the case? Is this diet even a good option for those of us trying to stay fit and healthy? Or are we just putting ourselves at risk by trying out a restrictive diet that might not be right for sports?

Its good for reducing cravings when being in a caloric deficit and it is almost impossible not to have enough protein when on keto, its a valid option for fat asses imo.

keto is a diet for fatties who want to eat as much as they like while being lazy and doing no exercise, deluding themselves into thinking they are losing weight because "no carbs".

this is just ignorance. If you fell behind in life and put on too much keto is a great and easy way to cut back on weight. IDK about lifting on it tho, as the fasting is an important part of keto.
Dont be an idiot just to be an idiot. I was 265, down to 155 thanks to fasting/keto, now im 205 with muscles and a decent body while eating a normal balanced diet.
It's not for the rest of your life.

Like this anon says any diet that puts you in ketosis (fasting, keto, carnivore) is a great way to lose fat and i personally found it easier and more intuitive than counting macros and calories than "normal" CICO.

I don't completely agree with this anon

keto doesn't do much on its own, but the principle of high-fat low-carb combined with CICO opens you up to a lot more tasty protein sources (whole eggs, chicken thighs, salmon, etc.) instead of just chicken breast and rice

but his main point still stands: CICO is the sole reason you will lose fat, you only need to find the strategy that works best for you. Carnivore worked for me because fat and protein are tasty and they satiated me for longer times than carbs and that made it easier to maintain a caloric deficit.

Give it a try and don't be afraid to make mistakes, this is a journey after all and trying different diets is important to find your balance. Ignore the vegan and keto schizos that plague the board.

"keto trend" imagine thinking not eating corporate food is a trend. homie if you went out and got your own food in ice age europe it would have been more or less a "keto" diet (more like a carnivore diet) and you would be lean without even trying.

It's not good for explosive and strength sports at all. It's good for fat loss (lessens cravings and hunger) and it's good for people chasing endurance (being adapted to biasing fat helps)
