So the only difference is how much you eat, not what you eat? Meaning you can also lose weight on any diet? Sounds like CICO, which I have been told 1000 times here doesn't work.

You will lose weight but one of those diets will cause you to lose more fat and retain more muscle proportionately.

And CICO doesn't work in the sense that it is impossible to calculate CI and CO accurately.
You are basically just guessing and hoping for the best when you calorie count.
On the keto/carnivore diet your appetite will be more suppressed so it would be easier to lose weight on that diet compared with a high carb diet which stimulates the appetite from the insulin fluctuations and drug like addictive nature of carbs (dopamine). So on a high carb calorie deficit you will be more hungry between meals which can sabotage the diet if you don't have will power.

So if I want to bulk, I should stay away from keto / carnivore? Since it will be suppressing my appetite and less insulin?

If you have a poor appetite and cant get in enough food to bulk on keto / carnivore then you might want to add carbs to get extra calories and appetite stimulation.

If keto / carnivore is a weight loss diet, then wouldn't I want to avoid it entirely for bulking (weight gain)?

keto / carnivore is not a weight loss diet. It can be used for that though. You can gain weight on it if you eat enough of it to create an energy surplus.
Adding carbs to a keto /carnivore diet simply turns it into a regular "balanced" diet.

So it's not better for weight loss than a balanced diet?

It better if it lowers your appetite. And it allows you to remove carbs which are unnecessary in the diet and use up too many empty calories in a diet.
That's why smart people who diet simply reduce carbs while keeping protein and fat the same, as this is the best way to create a calorie deficit as fats and proteins are needed for health and survival but carbs are not. So why not lower or remove the most useless macronutrient to create the calorie deficit.

This is the thing people misunderstood (or pretend to ignore) about CICO. CICO and thermodynamics are real, but hard to quantify abstractly because you don't know exactly how efficiently someone absorbs CI or how many CO they burn. Just weight yourself every week and adjust your calories depending on your goals. But make sure you shutdown anyone who pulls the CICO doesn't work excuse. That's bullshit.

      >Eat lentils or bread
Then why do vegans say that the only way to lose weight is by eating lentils and bread?

That's basically what I already eat since it's a mix of fat and carbs. The only other options are be a deficient vegan or be a deficient carnivore.

        deficient in what?

Calories apparently, since carnivore is supposed to be ideal for weight loss (they say carbs make you fat).
