Caffeine is a powerful drug. Anyone would know this if they were a regular heavy consumer and suddenly quit - the withdrawals are awful - terrible headache on par with migraine, fatigue and overall feeling awful. About 2 weeks ago I used to drink at least 4 cups of coffee per day, often even more. Currently, I only drink 1 cup in the morning, and feel fine. Getting ready to ditch the one cup. Coffee/caffeine should be treated as a tool rather than a necessity. Any anons who are dependent on caffeine should seriously consider quitting, and only using caffeine when needed - for example to help stay awake after an all-nighter etc. But I personally advise against quitting cold turkey due to the severity of withdrawals.
If any anons have any other tips for quitting the bean, feel free to post.

Drink more water essentially. Get into the habit of drinking water right when you wake up.
15 years into coffee addiction
I think I'm a lifer
Saw some dude on Joe Rogan who was a caffeine addict of this tier explaining how abstaining from coffee for a few months and then having a big cup of it was straight up psychedelic in nature and caused him to practically start tripping
Michael Pollen, he has an audio book about caffeine
I'll check it out. I've read his book about psychedelics - 'How to Change your Mind'. Excellent book for anyone interested in psychedelics.
>gay selling a books tells lies
>IST believes it
Was chugging energy drinks constantly in my teens, moved onto green tea. Quit caffeine in my 30s. Been clean for a few years. It's never too late. No excuses.
based. it's my last drug. quit cigs, weed, alcohol. but holy frick it's hard
Completely right. Never understood the headaches thing though. Whenever I stop I just feel fricking tired but never get headaches
Lucky you. When I quit, I had a severe headache in the evening, which only went away when I had caffeine. Since then, I learned my lesson.
I get headaches when I quit and migraines when I'm drinking coffee but get too much in a day. They're really weird migraines too. It's like a stroke. My speech will sometimes get slurred. I'll use the wrong words when I talk. I'll lose a large chunk of my vision. It was really incredibly frightening when this started. Often these are without pain. I've had migraines with pain though. Oh, and don't eat with those migraines. You'll get nausea and feel worse than the flu for hours.
>drink coffee during the week
>weekend starts, feel sleepy and yawny like im on benzos
wheeeeeeee haha
Mhhmmh i love coffee its good for me and really vets my day going! 🙂
Not saying it's necessary bad for health, but being dependent on any substance is not good.
Drinking coffee before gym and listening to orthodox chants while I lift helps me very much.
remember that all anti coffee threads are started by picrel lookalikes. Its creamcheese cinnamon frappucino vanilla peanut latte drinking teens pretending to be addicted to coffee to sound more mature. They think their goatmilk strawberry hazelnut fizzy booboo has something to do with real coffee.
Frick off moron. I'm a middle aged man and I think coffee is bad because it's a literal drug that robs your energy 24/7 to give a tiny bit back in short bursts. I don't drink or smoke either.
well, yeah, how could you tell I'm a middle aged man, is it the beard? We all know all these anti coffee threads are started by teenagers pretending to be coffee adicts to sound mature. Drinking fluffy cinnamon cherry latte frappucino syrup is not drinking coffee kid. Go make your homework instead of larping as an adult on a kenyian troat singing board
>he thinks being a drug addict is manly or grown up
st*rbucks is not coffee kid.
Easy way for addicts to reduce intake is to simply switch to decaf when crave more coffee, but don't need to feel more wired.
This is what I've been doing. I filled a mason jar with mixture of decaf and caffeinated pods - 10 each. Every morning I've been choosing at random while closing my eyes. Been working well so far.
Addictions are weird. I could go from months of a gram of caffeine to 0 with maybe 1-3 days of headaches, quitting nicotine makes me insane though
I did quit, cold turkey
just felt a little tired for 2 days but felt fine other than that
Used to be balls deep in a 2 energy drink a day habit.
>over 600mg of caffeine a day
Quit the energy drinks and switched to coffee with oat milk creamer (non sweetened)
Spent a few months doing that, then switched to green tea. I use two teabags per morning. One of green tea and I rotate the other one between different types of herbal teas (spearmint, ginger, etc.) The change has not made me feel different necessarily. Although I have found it easier to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up in the morning without any type of haziness. Overall I would rate decreasing caffeine consumption 5/7. Would recommend just for the sleep benefits.
I use it only sometimes (three times a week max) and it still makes me feel like shit, unfocused, hard to concentrate, dehydrated. I think that's because of the artificial stress hormones it produces in the brain
The stress can be mitigated entirely by sugar, it’s a cortisol response mostly due to increased metabolism.
>The stress can be mitigated entirely by sugar, it’s a cortisol response mostly due to increased metabolism.
what about drinking coffee on empty stomach? During a fast even?
You’re literally just leveraging cortisol for that. It’s great for short term things but having chronically elevated cortisol isn’t conducive for good health, longevity, or what we care about muscle growth. It’s great every once in a while if you really got get shit done but not a long term habit I’d prescribe.
Ever wonder if the fatigue and overall feeling awful is just your normal state? I am not a regular coffee drink coffee and always feel like shit, when I drink coffee I feel amazing.
>Ever wonder if the fatigue and overall feeling awful is just your normal state?
For me it is because of depression and chronic fatigue syndrome, coffee kinda clears that away but just replaces it with feeling like shit in a different way
Yeah, I think coffee is a better solution than most pharmaceuticals. My entire lineage for who knows how many generations have been drinking tea, how bad can it be? Some even argue the enlightenment period was because of high caffeine consumptions, but that’s conjecture other argue that about shrooms
HOLY FRICK COFFEE ESOTERIC ENLIGHTENMENT!!!
Can you shut the frick up trying to rationalize your addiction.
This is why you feel like shit:
Normal person
Feel normal -> feel normal -> feel normal ->repeat
Addict
Take drug-> feel fricking amazing for a little -> feel like garbage rest of your time -> take drug because you feel like shit -> repeat
More like cruise at 110% at all times pleb. There’s a reason everyone’s parents and grandparents drank tea and coffee. I don’t know why this current generation think they are absolute genius cutting carbs and coffee, don’t you think somebody in the last five hundred years would’ve figured it out?
>There’s a reason everyone’s parents and grandparents drank tea and coffee
Hmmm, I think it might be because caffeine is very addictive.
No, it's definitely not my normal state.
>If any anons have any other tips for quitting the bean, feel free to post.
For those who also actually enjoy coffee, find a good roaster and ask them if they make decaf beans. They’re not entirely caffeine free, but it’s drastically lower than regular and if the roaster is good, they’re still tasty as frick.
>4 cups a day
Lmao. Fricking pussy
>Decaf
ISHYGDDT
Enjoy your terrible sleep and, resulting from that, your early death after a life of low medical quality.
I went without coffee and havent noticed much. Coffee gives me nice burst of energy to get me going, but im definietly more tired at night.
>Currently, I only drink 1 cup in the morning, and feel fine.
Then why the frick ditch the one cup brah
Because it's still a dependency, brah.
Why is moderation so difficult for so many people? It is either you're drinking excessive coffee or none at all. Is it really too difficult to occasionally have a cup of coffee? Even if you drink it everyday, just have one goddamn cup.
>drink black coffee in the morning
>get a nice buzz
>shit my brains out
No better way to start your day
Lol. Lmao. Hahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahaha hahahahahah lol lol e-girlng lmao lmfao lmffao.
That's about all there is to say to a post as silly as this.
Quit by switching to tea, it still has caffeine in it but it's a lower dose and it feels smoother because of the theanine in tea. Start with black tea which has the highest caffeine content, then switch to oolong tea, then green tea
this shit has never done anything for me
i have never felt shit drinking it
"oh so then drink 1kg of it" no homie im not doing moronic shit when normies drink some of it and feel full of energy
coffee is a semen slurping drink
I quit by switching to green tea. This will gross some people out, but I found it easier to switch to green tea with sugar and cream. Then cut out the sugar and cream later. I tried with regular tea, but couldn't quit the sugar and cream addiction back then. Nowadays I only drink green tea and often really watered down. I can actually quit green tea without much effort compared to coffee, but I like having something to break up the day a bit.
I prefer green tea to regular tea as well despite growing up in a tea-drinking country where black tea is the default drink at every meal. In fact green tea, white tea and others were actually way tea was processed in asia but black tea stores better and survived the long boat journeys better and that's how they gained prominence.
Matcha tea (if you don't know about it) is the leaves of very young specially bred green tea ground into a powder and you mix it with water and drink it all. It gives more caffeine than regular tea, and also l-theanine which is meant to counteract some of the negative effects of caffeine. It's a bit more expensive though than regular green tea, I tried buying some from china as it's a lot cheaper than buying from europe and have been waiting weeks for a new pack to come.
90% of Americans are caffeine fiends. Imagine if I said cocaine or alcohol everyone would be freaking out right now. But noooooo.
>Caffeine is totally fine! It's great that everyone is sleep deprived and developing heart arrythmias and getting into car crashes! It's great that the entire voting population is on drugs 24/7! Don't oay any attention to that new legislation that just passed! Here have some weed and pornography! Isn't this great!
Switch to tea and/or mate.
No coffee or energy drinks.
From there it's easier to quit caffeine entirely.
There is just something about coffee that messes you up and is addictive other than the caffeine.
