I don't know what statins are, and I won't google it. Take the opportunity to spit in his face.

He's a moronic, up both your red meat and fruit and dairy consumption. Just make sure you get at least double carbs than protein

It's more likely RP is correct than the doctors pushing stations. I'd take flush Niacin, cut out pufa, and work to increase your metabolic rate for a year or so before hopping on statins

There are way more things you can do than just never eat red meat again. I don't want to be the guy to be like "ignore your doctor" but do you honestly think your doctor really studies cholesterol and is giving a anything but a placeholder, 2 seconds on google answer + obligatory pharmadependency?

High cholesterol is a sign of hypothyroidism. Your body uses cholesterol to synthesis steroid hormones, which your body cannot do when thyroid function is low. Statins are utterly moronic, and so is trying to lower cholesterol. It is like crying to lower white blood cell count because it is high during an infection.
If you have other hypothyroid symptoms, genuinely think about supplementing t3+t4, for which your cholesterol can help you measure.

Do you have to get t3/t4 tested? This was the only thyroid test I got last time.

        That test isn't meaningful.

Thank you. Will ask for t3 and t4 then.

I misspoke, I don't think an t3/t4 test is meaningful. The thinking behind those things is seriously flawed. You doctor is probably going to interpret the test-result in a way which excludes you from getting thyroid prescribed to you.

You can get t3/t4 tested if you want, but it will probably be expensive. you don't necessarily need it either. ray peat recommends keeping track of your temperature, once immediately upon waking and once after lunch, either ancillary or orally. Your temperature should be 98f after waking and rise to 98.6f in the day. Keeping track of your heartrate can let you know whether it is adrenaline or something else raising your temperature. This article has good information if you decide to go the thyroid route:

im same as you OP. i got put on statins two months ago and gonna get my bloodwork done soon. i decided to take the "all options available" route for treatment. rosuvastatin, lifting weights 3x a week, no red meat, limited saturated fat to less than 20g a day, increase whole food and fiber intake (brown rice, carrots, potatoes, bananas, oranges). gonna incorporate biking and sun tanning too soon. if my LDL is at a better level after 3 months of this im gonna drop the statins and continue all other habits. ive read that long term statin use isnt something you just wanna do "because", and im using them as a tool to hit my goal of lower LDL. this is after 2 years of fricking my body in various ways during a dark time in life. 33 years old male 130 lbs 5'8 lead a pretty active life.

fiber is good for you and your gut and thyroid functioning. too much SFA in people with certain genetic predispositions can be sub-optimal. cardio is undeniably good for you, though i will concede it can impede mass gains.

          >cardio is undeniably good for you
I'm not the guy you were responding to, but judging by your posts cardio is probably a big reason why you had problems. Exposing you body to routine stress is already damaging, doing it while eating an inflammatory diet of fiber and unsaturated fat is just asking to die, your body will not be able to compensate for that stress and will just start pumping out adrenaline and cortisol.

cardio training hasnt even started for me yet. itll be biking and rowing in very short durations. im not gonna be long distance running and lifting. i think my health problems stemmed from going vegan (big fricking mistake) and smoking 2 blunts a day (those tobacco leaf chemicals and smoking effects on blood vessels). i think onions products like earth balance and oat milk and vegan ice cream severely fricked my body (pufas/seed oils) after only 2 years. on top of this i was working hard labor (residential mover and woodshop warehouse) at the time and that was just overtraining every day carrying shit and walking 10,000 steps+ a day. previously id crush multiple burgers and shakes from shake shack at once, full pints of ben and jerrys, or several hot dogs and asparagus at cook outs pretty regularly. now i pretty much only get fats from avocado oil, occasionally olive oil, cottage cheese, gaye, fairlife, chicken, sardines, or nuts. im curious about what you say regarding cortisol and adrenaline- during the past few months of experience my heart will race or ill be short breathed like im in fight/flight.

That'll do it. You seem to have a good grip on things though. A lot of people get some health issue and think they have to live healthier. Which usually, for some reason, people seem to think means doing stressfull things and not eating sugars. In this way many people dig themselves deeper and deeper into a sort of "health-hole", creating more and more stress in their everyday life. Before they know it they are running on adrenaline half the day, getting irregular heart-rates, getting bad sleep, and (like you said) snapping into f-or-f when doing normal things. I know because I experienced that. It dawned on me when I drank a soda, took an aspirin, and suddenly could lift without feeling like I would pass out.

(not the guy you're replying to)
not all cardio is the same in some circles walking is "cardio". In which case I say absolutely humans should get a minimum of 15000 steps a day. Running like all higher exertion activity should be allowed proper recovery time and shouldn't be done daily. But humans total work capacity for walking is absolutely insane and can be maintained without accumulating too much damage, or cortisol so long as the mileage per week isn't increased more than 10% rapidly

              yeah walking good,.

You do not control the day that you live or the day that you die. It does not matter how long you lived but only how you lived.
