I take 1000 mg of magnesium lycinate glycinate (10 horse-sizes tablets a day) half in the morning, half in the evening. On top of magnesium rich greens and nuts. Come at me bro.

Its overemphasized in that tweet. If you're following the SAD, you very well might be deficient though. Given that you're here, you probably stand a better chance

if only you could go to the doctor and ask for a simple blood test to see if you are low magnesium.
But since we cant w'll just have to take gay expensive memepills for our imaginary deficiency because some fat child molester on IST made a redpill thread.

thanks im new to supplements so im learning
i try to get everything from diet alone but what are some supplements that most people are deficient in that i should look into getting? i feel like 99% of them are just snake oil

They kinda are, hence supplements.Getting them from food is good but >bioavailability . And amount you get from food varies and their interaction can affect absorption. Its an experiment, and can be dangerous if overdosed.Might wantvto check your mineral levels and shit. I read that they can check them from hair analysis.

no, it wasn't on an empty stomach. i never really take anything so i think it was just too much all at once (250mg)

Iodine is the best supp you can take

i just googled what food iodine is in and it's in all of the food that i already eat (fish, dairy eggs, chicken) so i assume i have a good amount already

Only real of you don't regularly eat veggies and veggie-derived food, which you should do.

    >DO NOT TEST YOUR BLOOD LEVELS TO CHECK IF YOUR MAGNESIUM LEVELS ARE ADEQUATE

Like most supplements, it'll only make a difference if you ARE deficient. Otherwise you're just putting fluid in a tank that's already full.

I drink two strong coffees a day, is that enough?

I work in healthcare and see blood lab values on a daily basis. A vast majorit of PTs have normal mag levels. Low mag is also rarely as simple as "consume more magnesium".

  7. 1 year ago

plants require magnesium to grow. all plants contain it. so, he's wrong on one point.
also there's lots of different soils out there with lots of different mineral compositions.
it's true that magnesium deficiency is relatively common however. just eat some more vegetables (you are probably fat and need to do this anyway)

You are probably around normal levels unless you experience high levels of fatigue and irregular muscle soreness. If you take vitamin D supplements or spend a ton of time in the sun, you may also be deficient because it depletes your magnesium levels.

I take electrolyte powder every day which has magnesium in it

Amazing what people will quote without just reading the damn source. If you look up the reddit post from OP image, he says at the bottom "oops nevermind, went to the doctor and the problem was actually B12."

Apparently the RDA for B12 is 2.4µg/day for adults. 100g of pig's liver contains 40µg of B12 and for those of you who don't like the taste of liver: 100g of beef liver contains 110µg.

Those are rookie numbers. You must've forgotten how nutritious liver is.

Not entirely clear from the source what was wrong, looks like he wasn't tested for magnesium deficiency at first, he just took some and felt a lot better. Might have been pyschological. If he was deficient he might have fixed it by the time he got checked a few weeks later.

So the guy wasn't eating enough meat and eggs? I thought B12 was easy to get.

Happens sometimes, usually to vegans but other people can get it too. If you drink energy drinks you get tons of B12.

I think real. Magnesium glycinate is one of the only things I could feel a positive benefit from. No longer got insomnia due to a restless CNS. I got to a point where I couldn't sleep after a heavy DL or squat day

I occasionally take about a gram of epsom salt (magnesium sulfate heptahydrate) over an hour as a kind of electrolyte drink. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Remember that magnesium is a potent laxative and upping the does to 3g results in violent diarrhea.

I supplement by using magnesium chloride but I recently found out it has non-trivial amounts of arsenic.
I have that and sardines but haven't keeled over so I'm assuming something is chelating the arsenic.
Why is it so hard to supplement magnesium bros?
Will we have to cleanse the earth with fire and farm vegetables and feed our stock on repleted soil before we have to not worry about magnesium depletion in the food supply?
