rectal bleeding

Does anyone else have this? I get once every few weeks a considerable amount of blood out of my ass and my lower back hurts for a few days.

>inb4 you have cancer and you will die soon
possible, on the other hand it has been going on for too long and the quality of my shit is pretty good normally. I think it's something food related, but I can't figure it out.

I would love to have it checked, but it's impossible to get an appointment nowadays.

I think coffee dehydrates your poops and makes them hard causing it to tear up your anoos when passing a poop. I need to give up coffee to confirm, but not ready to do this just yet.

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy last week. The hardest part is the prep, but apparently I was lucky because I was prescribed the pill form.

Haven’t gotten the results back yet, but doc says I have EOE and probably celiac disease.

What color is the blood? If its deep red then it is coming from your upper colon and you need to see a doctor.
If its bright red, the. Its coming from from your lower colon and probably hemorrhoids bleeding every time you have a bowel movement.

i have no idea what you're describing. Lower back pain might quasi-unrelated, potetially caused by the same sedentary lifestyle which produces hemoroids. Hemoroids can result in what can be described as "considerable amount of blood".

if the blood is bright red, if you suffer from a lot of constipation and spend a lot of time sitting down, and you're in your 20's, its most likely hemoroids.

regardless, you should get an appointment

ITT: OP is an american who doesnt want to spend 1000 usd (plus tip) to go to the ER and them telling him he needs to stop wiping too hard, or if hes unfortunate enough, god bless he is in good health, have cancer doesnt want to be milked so bad on chemo that his grandchildren will be in debt.

Mate, you need to get this checked NOW! Even if just to rule things out.
Unbeknown to me, my mother had been having episodes of bleeding from her anus for years, which she assumed was just haemorrhoids, but turned out to be stage IV colon cancer.
She survived, but wished she hadn't. The radiotherapy treatment she went through was so severe that it wrecked her insides for the rest of her life, leaving her permanently bowel incontinent, and desperately weak.
    Get yourself checked fella.

Black is upstream. Bright red is more downstream. Sounds like you can see the bright red in your stool so it's probably in your colon. Doctors also can't really tell what's going on until they do a colonoscopy. The fact that you haven't seen a doctor to check if the blood is cancer is concerning.

Everyone ITT is moronic. It could be cancer, it's obviously not hemorrhoids (low back pain with hemorrhoids??), but most likely it's an inflammatory bowel disease. I would guess ulcerative colitis. It's probably not Crohn's disease.

    >what should I do
    Stop eating like shit. Immediately.
    >what should I do next
    See a doctor. Immediately.

could happen. he could sit in a weird posture to avoid the hemorrhoid pain, causing back pain.

Super duper low chance. Especially since he doesn't report a history of constipation and he believes it's food related. Given his history, even cancer would be more likely (despite hemorrhoids being a far more common presentation).

          >he doesn't report a history of constipation
I'm often constipated and even though it only started maybe a year or two ago I can't point to any major change in my diet or lifestyle. thoughts?

I had the same symptoms. You need to schedule an appointment with a GI. He will likely recommend a colonoscopy.

and what are the likely outcomes?

                Anonymous

I’m not sure about the likely outcomes, but I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagus. My doctor also thinks I have celiac disease, but we are waiting for the labs to come back. Either way OP needs to see a doctor. Food allergy, H pylori, cancer, bacterial overgrowth it’s all bad

Also, get an appointment tomorrow morning. You don’t want to have to wait a month and a half to see your doctor. Especially if your symptoms get worse like mine did.

Yes, but only as a result of accutane. Never happened before, but once I went on it it's drying out literally every part of my body and there's often blood when I wipe now. Really annoying and the first time it happens you think you're gonna fricking die of colorectal cancer.

  16. 1 month ago
    Anonymous

I'm assuming you're young. Even though colon cancer rates are rising for those under 50, it's still very unlikely to be cancer as opposed to another GI issue (perhaps Crohn's).

Either way, see a fricking doctor. A small amount of bright red bleeding on its own, if it only happens every once in a while, is not a problem. Any considerable amount of bleeding is.

Combined with the lower back pain, you should be worried. See a doc. I doubt it's anything fatal.

I was rectally bleeding for a year. Eventually got so sick with diarrhea and dehydration. I lost the ability to drink water without throwing up. At that point I figure I only had like 12 hours of life left in me. As I lay in bed very sick, with a fever, my body fading away. I thought should I just die? I didn't want to do that to my mom. So I decided to live. Went to the doctors and told him I know what I have. Despite no family history. I said I have ulcerative colitis. He gave me an odd look and maybe a little more so when I said I realized it could only be diagnosed with a colonoscopy. So admitted me to the hospital. IV fluids, so I didn't die. And the colonoscopy confirmed ulcerative colitis. It has been 16 years since that happened and a lot of hard years. But I'm here. Ask me anything.

For ulcerative colitis? Biological drugs or years of suffering if you don't have them.

That's a bleeding ulcer. I bet the blood is darker so it indicates the bleed is higher up the GI. The body digests the blood. Versus a hemroid that has bright red blood.

        Anonymous

Bright red. No blood or spotting on other days. Just if that stuff is involved.

          Anonymous

Then it is unlikely an ulcer. So I find it hard to believe alcohol would make it worse, unless because of dehydration associated with it. Sounds more hemorrhoid. Do spicy foods cause it to bleed more? Or chocolate cause a lot of itching.

            Anonymous

No and no. I eat a lot of spicy food like authentic Thailand level. Chocolate like once a week I'll have a high coca % bar no issue. Only concerning food is citrus. If I have a lot of lime juice or lemon in something yeah ring of fire.

Yeah then the only thing you can do is after you shit clean the area really well. Seriously dig your finger in there with warm water. Then put preparation h max strength. If your problems lessen then it isn't anything really serious. Other than that you would have to go to the doctor. Aspirin can make an ulcer or hemorrhoid bleed more so it doesn't tell you anything. Rectal / colon cancer tends to cause construction so all your shits become like pencils.

Personally I don't think I bleed but my shits are a soft mess, I have maybe a couple proper solid shits a month and often feel bloated as if there's a heavy weight in my colon.
Not losing weight and my appetite is always high but unless it's just the result of a shit diet it may be something wrong.
