It's actually better than squatting because
    >more chance you stick to it
    >better views of gym thot ass
    >less chance of hemorrhoids

I'm sure this is satire.... Does squatting actually cause hemorrhoids? Lol

I can't say for sure that it does. But when I stopped squatting mine went away

Never had hemorrhoids before or after I was squatting but had them constantly for the 6 months I was squatting.

No if you properly use a squat plug

You homosexuals just need to wash your ass. Do you even know what causes hemorrhoids?

Pressure on the blood vessels in your anus, which is caused from sitting too long or squatting heavy

          This right here.

Only time I've gotten hemorrhoids is when I would hide during my college job by sitting on the toilet on my phone for about a half hour each day

if this is all you do for legs it's absolute garbage compared to other movements. but as an accessory to other primary lifts it's great, like almost all other accessories. varieties for lifts are great. this is a very isolating machine but you can move a lot of weight. my personal favorites on the leg press are single leg variations. I haven't programmed standard leg press in ages though.

Good for getting through back injury while minimizing potential performance or tissue loss too.

This. Personally I love burning out on leg day doing single leg presses on the machine. Trying to do barbell lunges is an absolute fricking meme comparatively. The squat is still king for general leg growth but the leg press machine is the best supplemental exercise you could ask for.

No, leg press is a better exercise than squats since the lower back is no longer a limiting factor, allowing you to train the legs harder.

Leg press is a stupid exercise, leg extensions after squats is the best way to destroy your quads.

That makes it a shitty exercise, not a better one. The fact that squats engage so much of your body is a good thing.

Depends on the legg press (there are many). The one in that picture is pretty shit. The normal legg press is alright.

The best though is this one, leverage leg press.

This angle is the best for serious people, yours is decent for beginner gains and women.

I guess I avoid the machine because it feels weird how in some of them a 15yo boy can load it up with 250kg and do reps, also because there's a risk that your ass/lower back can round a bit while you lower the weight and it puts not good pressure on your spine.

I also _like_ to include some sort of balance, skill or core component when I do legs.

But anyway, the leg press is kind of versatile tbh because you can do one leg or both legs at the time, you can put your feet on upper part to target more hamstring/glutes, you can put them lower to focus more on knee extension part, you can put feet wider or narrower. You can also train calves easily on some machines.

These examples apply to the 45 degree classic leg press btw, not necessarily apply to the more horizontal ones you see more often these days

I replaced squat with leg press in both SL and Madcow. I'd say it worked out for me. I think it's good and mostly gets unjust hate from squatgays.

    >Resistance is loaded at your hips instead of your spine
    >can plug in your weight in no time
    >less skill to use
    >can go to failure safely
    >no spotter needed
    >guys line up to the squat rack but no one is ever on the leg press

It is a shit substitute for squatting. If you don't squat, then fricking squat. If you squat and want an accessory that allows you to load the legs without compressing the spine, the leg press is a great exercise.

In general, machines/cables are better for pure hypertrophy of a specific isolated muscle.
Whereas free-weights are better for strength gains, training stability, and general athleticism, and allow you train more muscles simultaneously, which cuts down on time spent in the gym, all while still providing almost as much hypertrophy.
Imo, doing a machine/cable dominant routine for the small bit of extra hypertrophy is only worth it if you ONLY care about aesthetics and not strength or athleticism at all, and you're able to no-life the gym (which does happen to be the case for me atm, but I wouldn't recommend it for most people).
Leg press is a machine excercise, and no exception to everything stated above.

    It's ok, but
    >Not a primary lift
    >Can be subbed much more safely with belt squats
When the leg press snaps you, you stay snapped.
