>Reddit the lift

By far the most cringe exercise. There is 0 reason to do this when you can use dumbbells.

I get a huge smirk on my face when I see some nerd do this in the gym knowing he is from reddit or a powershitter thread.

Yes. Military press ranks 4 - 10 of most important lifts depending which expert you ask. I've been doing PT for 3 years and I'd say it's:
      >Bench
      >Squat
      >Deadlift
      >Dips
      >Rows
      >OHP
And deadlifts I only really talk about with people who already know what it is because I don't want to tap my liability insurance.

I literally only know him through memes. I do some custom push/pull thing, it really depends on the individual.

The book I got started on, if you really must know, was, no shit, "Becoming a personal trainer for dummies".

Dumbbells will force more central nervous activation, leading to increasing your strength, but not size. Having less stabilization, such as using the bar, leads to muscle size.

    In realty. Use both.

Dumbbells let you lift more because you decrease the rom, and usually people do these seated. You can lift the barbell seated, but you cannot change the rom significantly if you do the strict press with the exception of purely arching your back whilst standing. I'd say that they each have their place and you can do either or tbh.

Ive noticed swapping to DBs when im plateauing on a lift has pretty good results. Doesnt do shit for DL and squat but OHP and bench i come back to a barbell feeling like zeus himself would bow before me. I only just recently hit a 250lbs 1rm bench though so who knows how much this strategy helps in the long run.

I don't even do this lift but OP is a homosexual. Imagine not only caring about what other people do at the gym, but walking around with a shit eating grin thinking you're superior just because you don't like a certain exercise. The absolute height of feminine behaviour.

Good thing I still use reddit, and can, in fact do this movement.
This nerd is bigger than you.

If you are dumb enough to not understand the pros and cons of a barbell lift then you SHOULD kys. Dumbbells have their place.

Why is there such a big increase of psyop threads recently? Pretty much daily I see threads of people shitting in exercises for no reason but to discourage new lifters from doing them, hence, stealing their gains. Wtf is this influx of gain goblins?

I have trouble breathing during the OHP. I can push a few reps when I hold my breath, but if I breath I would just turn weak. Any breathing tips when doing the OHP?

      Anonymous

Breathe at the top, not the bottom. Allows you to keep tension before the concentric part of the lift and use the stretch reflex. Think of it like the bench press, or the squat for that matter - you wouldn't try to take a breath when the bar is on your chest or when you're atg, you do it at lockout.

            It's a strongman event.
They train on the same "logs" because of the weight distribution and the neutral grip, which is very different then a barbell obviously.
