OK moron but how do you periodize a singular workout?
"how do you periodize a single workout?"
Don't start people on their first day of doing any new form of exercise, or exercise in general by making them do the workout that people who have spent weeks, months, years, decades training are doing. Especially in a high intensity workout program such as cross fit.
Believe it or not, preparation is a cycle.
>first workout >periodization >Based moron.
periodization is very beneficial even for complete beginners. for steady gains, you don't need to go anywhere close to failure, you just need to progressively overload muscle, that's why HST is much superior to SS. I switched from SS to HST when I was starting out. I retested by bench 5RM after 8 weeks and it went to 90kg after stalling at 65kg before, despite my working weight being in the 30-80kg rage during that time
It’s not just the pull-ups
Their workouts can work for people training for athletic competition but they stupid shit like Clean and Jerk or Snatch until failure. The Olympic lifts are not meant to be done crazy fast and until you physically cannot hold the bar anymore since it’s going to be over your fricking head at that point. If they were just supersetting a bunch of body weight and basic lifts that would be fine, but the fact that they basically ask for injury is moronic. That and the people very serious about CrossFit develop a Cyclist like personality and mentality.
>snatch to failure
Been doing CrossFit for years and I have never seen a workout that contains "snatch to failure". In fact, in CrossFit it is EXPECTED that you scale your workout as needed. That means 1 of 2 things: scaling the weight/reps or scaling the movement if needed.
In CrossFit the workouts have "RX" suggestions for men and women, meaning to do the "full" workout, you use a defined weight, and if you need to scale you do less.
No, their problem is that they force people to do complex movements too fast, and also that they don't give people appropriate breaks between exercises, which leads to very high rates is rhabdomyolysis and injury.
>very intense
exactly you stupid moron, that's exactly why it gets its deserved bad rep
crossfit literally turns a bunch of good and efficient lifts that are safe when done right, into very dangerous INEFFICIENT lifts, just for the sake of some pretentious "adventure" and "intensity"
It’s the peer pressure aspect (which women are especially vulnerable to). It makes people with no exercise experience who would otherwise half ass it in the gym actually try to do crossfits pretty demanding workouts (even if they’re moronic CrossFit workouts are usually hard)
What the frick, congrats for her willpower I guess but one would guess a fat woman would first get dizzy and throw up or faint before she works hard enough to destroy her muscles
>Because powerlifting competitions are a level of moronic beyond the comprehension of us mere mortals
kek, i'm not sure who is worse, poweshitters or roid trannies
don't be a powershitter. Bodtbuilders don't need to do 1RMs.
don't be a roider either. it grows your muscles but not your tendons and joints.
use safeties.
>don't be a powershitter. Bodtbuilders don't need to do 1RMs.
obviously not 1RM, but a last serie as a single repetition with about 90% of your max is very nice
never squat or bench without properly adjusted safeties and don't participate in powerlifting competitions, because the people running them are apparently too moronic to realize that something like a rack with safeties already exists
Most of the replies are totally moronic or DYEL cope. This happens almost, if not exclusively to roided lifters in wraps. Roids inadvertently cause these wrecks because tendons and ligaments don’t get as strong as muscles do when they’re juiced up. Secondly, wraps are a super-maximal training aid, so when they fail, and sometimes even when they don’t, your body is left to support a weight it can’t actually lift.
Avoid this outcome by avoiding super-maximal training aids, and not roiding. Heavy lifting doesn’t inherently cause snaps.
Red bouncy baby plates are only 25 lbs at the last gym i went to with the crossfit play pen
I have a suspicion they are in kilograms but how heavy was that
Olympic red bumpers are 25kg/55lbs, in my gym in bongland at least. Greens are 10kg/22lbs. Dunno if Crossfit has its own branded plates with a different colour scheme, and vid is too blurry to tell how many reds he's got on, but here would be the rough calcs if those are the same reds I use:
2 reds: 10/25/25/+(20)+25/25/10 = 140kg/308lbs
3 reds: 10/25/25/25+(20)+25/25/25/10 = 190kg/419lbs
4 reds: 10/25/25/25/25+(20)+25/25/25/25/10 = 240kg/529lbs
I shoulda just looked it up. Here:
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/weightlifter-legs-squat-500-pounds-graphic-video >A video posted to YouTube showed Yaroslav Radashkevich trying to squat about 550 pounds.
So yeah, 4 reds and some change.
If it was true then anybody with broken muscle fibers would eventually get rhabdomyolysis. Some people are just inherently susceptible to it but won't know unless they workout first. Someone like her who was prone to it would have developed it either through crossfit or her first stronglift session
>If it was true then anybody with broken muscle fibers would eventually get rhabdomyolysis
Not true, rhabdomyolysis is caused by extreme muscle injury not just a regular workout >Some people are just inherently susceptible to it
Maybe but that doesnt mean she "already had it." If she didnt do crossfit she wouldnt have needed to go to the hospital simple as

Is rhabdo really that bad?
I got it once when I stopped lifting for like half a year and just swam. Did one too many pullups and had my arms swollen, peed dark brown for like 2 days and just felt tired. Drank a lot of water and the swelling went away slowly in like a week.
Got checked out a year later, all my bloodwork/urine came back just fine and I've never felt any better.
There are levels. Basically what's bad about it isn't the muscle destruction (although that is bad), it's the fact that your muscle tissue is pretty toxic through your body, so your kidneys have to filter out all of that. If you damage one body part a bit, your kidneys will likely recovered (like what happened to you).
If you get rhabdo in multiple areas of your body and it's very severe, your kidneys can shut down if you don't get dialysis. If your kidneys get shot it becomes an issue where you'll need dialysis weekly until you get a transplant.
Yes. Your rhabdo was likely less severe. Also, a lot of these cases you see aren't that severe either. A lot of times hospitals will hold them overnight to watch kidney levels and see whether they have to intervene or not. It doesn't mean they are necessarily getting treatment

I can remember a few times after starting up doing squats again after a long break where my urine was dark brown the next day and I had really bad DOMS that lasted for like 4 days. No long term negative effects but that's it really. I just don't squat anymore because I'm a rungay anyway.
The one time I got rhabdo I worked my triceps for literally 90 straight minutes with no break. I don't understand how this chick got rhabdo from a crossfit workout which has you constantly switching muscle groups
She could be doing some spastic circuit where she does something like box jumps, burpees, deadlifts, assault bike.
Every now and again I have to do army reserve PT and the physical training instructors will set something like that, and they won’t really care if you’re already fatigued from doing real exercise.
I did a circuit like that the day after I did a Smolov squat cycle session (17 reps of 170kg). And I thought I was going to get rhabdo in the circuit. Had to pause laying down as my quads felt like they were going to explode.
I tried CrossFit at work once. They had some program at lunch that the women kept going to.
I’m used to controlled movement. It started with 3x5 Front squats into 3x5 DL. >alright time to be serious here

This alone is why CrossFit has such a high injury rate. If they just stop the "do complex movements as fast as you can" bullshit their injury rate would drop to normal weightlifting levels.
That sounds dumb as frick from a training perspective holy. Front load absolutely kills your cns then you go amrap. That shit sounds designed to injure people

That's it. Just be a NEET. I'm 35 and I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was 12. If you live in Britain that means you get free money forever. I'm not a shrimp like this guy though. I used the free money to get exercise equipment so I can kill people when the economy collapses because of NEETs like me.

I've learned that there's no age regulation for workers in Canada. Mining companies just don't want and are not forced to hire children (unlike women). What a fricking dumbass. As a matter of fact since people received $2000 per month by Justin Turdeau, people don't want to work so grocery stores now hire 14 years old, they always could have, they just didn't want to but because of the socialist government now they have to. Again, what a fricking redditor.

There's a difference between training for a sport and playing the sport. Crossfitters need to learn the difference.

go to the doctor moron
Lower weight, higher rep for RDLs and DL. elevate heels for squats. kettlebell swings 30 reps 3-5 sets
Unfortunate shoulder to hip ratio
Groomer physiognomy.
something deeply unsettling about this post
Did he never work out his back as a kid? Gawdam
I only started lifting a few months ago so it's not often I see a man that I'm 100% sure I could kill, but there he is.
This is what happens when malnourished kids grow up
this has to be some kind of condition, right? Even people who grew up sedentary and never did any kind of sport ever look better than this.
How do you get to 30 and are still unable to support yourself unless you're NEETing?
>Tramples at least 10 small animals a day
Lol this got me
>kills 3 people with strokes before its slaughtered.
Cows have the ability to kill by just existing.
Shit we should just send cows to war with stats like that
>it's meat causes 3 strokes, and increases to 12 after slaughter
>kills at least 2 cattle due to aggressive mating
based
my new life goal

On average it's between 1-2tonnes of insects.
I have another test for you. Don't look it up!
Picture for ants.
Wtf how can you grow to 30 and never have a job..
Literally unimaginable
He said a living wage not a job. He probably had a McJob or some other wagegoy position.
It's pretty easy if you have rich parents.
>How do you get to 30 and are still unable to support yourself unless you're NEETing?
Realistically, could this guy be saved? Could he lift his way into looking normal? Or is his frame truly and utterly fooked?
It's always better to be a fit mutant than just a mutant.
If he did squats, pull ups, rows, some bicep/tricep work and bench/ohp he would look way better. Maybe could even fill his obliques to be ultimate muscle fridge at least.
No. That is a man who doesn't care.
As long as he puts on some muscle he'll be fine
he looks like both a child and a child pedator.
ricky berwick's evil twin?
I don't need to. His existence alone is a roast in itself.
never understood why people open their mouth that wide for a picture
i can't imagine them opening their mouth for that long until they take the picture, it's not natural
who decided this?
Frickin Mick homosexual
The Communists did this to us
No shit ~~*they*~~ want this regulated. That six year old could probably beat the shit out of them then frick their wife.
>smoking a pipe
>pipe prop is very clearly empty
Why do people assume that old tin-type photographs were candid?
he hasnt packed it yet you moron
>mom dresses her kid up and takes a cute picture of him
>100 years later a redditor uses it to push political moronation
I've learned that there's no age regulation for workers in Canada. Mining companies just don't want and are not forced to hire children (unlike women). What a fricking dumbass. As a matter of fact since people received $2000 per month by Justin Turdeau, people don't want to work so grocery stores now hire 14 years old, they always could have, they just didn't want to but because of the socialist government now they have to. Again, what a fricking redditor.
It was either this or die of starvation. Statist or cuck fricks.
Elliot Page?
>Rhabdomyolysis
Good thing I’m antisemitic
You’re thinking of rabbimolestasis
This gif is hilarious, but Jefferson Deadlifts are kind of kino
Crossfit claims another
I remember when this was common and made news years ago.
>Type in "Crossfit rhabdomyolysis" on youtube
>Legitimately hundreds of results of different people talking about how Crossfit ruined their kidneys
Holy shit
crossfit propagandizes the high rhabdo rates as a mark of being hardcore rather than as a symptom of inherent flaws in training ideology -- "see look how intense we are"

At least she tried, there's a 90% chance you only lift tendies to your mouth
I got Rhabdo when I first started working out because I was moronic, did every machine each day for a week and ate no protein. Two weeks in hospital and 20k in bills.
is rhabdo something new i need to be afraid of, how do you do it to yourself
>new
it's been a well known thing as long as crossift has
just don't train like a moronic crossfitter and do a real routine and you'll never get it
holy jej
bruh, as the kids say.
Friendly reminder that crossfit is not scaleable. It's a product created by a secret cult of orthopedic surgeons who want to make sure that they're great grandkids never have to work a day in their life.
Sounds like a lazy fat frick problem to me.
only a homosexual that has done no physical activity in his youth could be so oblivious to his body's signals that he ends up like that on his first day instead of just stopping when he's exhausted. His trainer must also have been a huge moron
Where do wrestlers don't develop rabdo? Their workouts are very intense
They do but are less likely since their workouts are programmed by coaches and they undergo intense training from a young age
Rhabdo fricking sucks
I once had it and had to get half my calf cut out.
>can run 5k no dramas
>enter marathon but never trained
>made it and immediately started pissing blood
