    peasant food

Slavshit peasant food. The protein quality is fairly good for a plant; but it's only 11% protein, so eating it for the protein is a bad strategy. Depending on where you live it might not even be that cheap, not worth it imo

It's good to put it in salads for a bit of carbs, it also has some good protein if I remember correctly

Better for fitness than rice, better than pasta/bread, better than oats. Probably similar level millet, quinoa. IST is stuck on the oats meme but buckwheat is superior. I eat it most days.
    Check the macros and micros.
Makes your piss smell when you eat a lot of it.

Lentils and legumes would still beat them out though right?
      Buckwheat noodles are nice

Yeah lentils will for protein/gram… beans not massively better, but they take a bit of extra prep and longer cook time for brown/green while red lentils only make dhal/porridge. Buckwheat works better for some meals where you want solid parts like for putting sauce on. Basically eat it instead of rice/wheat/oats. And the micros on buckwheat might be better for some micros/minerals than lentils.

No, because buckwheat actually has complete protein. Legumes lack methionine

I love pasta so much bros, and I'm Italian.
How can I turn my back on the food that has always stood by my side like this.
      BUT IT'S NOTHING BUT CARBS

Frick that, don't turn your back on pasta. I eat pasta at least 5 times a week. The only thing I did was to switch to whole grain pasta. Seriously it depends on what you make the pasta with, I always put tons of vegetables in it, but it's so versatile.

I normally do garlic broccoli sausage and oil, do you do like a primavera. I tried that, and without a meat of some kind it wasn't as filling, I felt like I had to eat more. Normally there is at minimum an onion and a carrot in there as well.

My dishes aren't very traditional tbh. I like to put in ricotta and parmesan if I'm not having meat in it. That's my go to dish: tomato sauce, vegetables (onion, carrots, zucchini), ricotta/mascarpone + parmesan. Sometimes I also do this but with anchovies and sardines instead of ricotta and parmesan. Salmon + Spinach + broccoli + cream is also nice. Prawns also work nice with tomato sauce.
But yeah if you don't put meat I'd definitely put ricotta, it's a good substitute and it has some really good amino acids.
Rec me some recipes as well pasta-bro.

Buckwheat and barley are the only grains I tolerate if I need carbs. Just don't buy raw buckwheat from some hippie place like wholefoods and shit. You need roasted buckwheat for cooking. Add some onions sauce, cream, or butter before serving and you're golden

      What's your intolerance anon?

I have LTP allergy, I'm currently avoiding grains, and eating buckwheat and quinoa instead. It looks like I can tolerate wheat, but I'm recovering from digestive damage caused by LTP consumed and I won't know until I'm done with it.

Makes good pancakes. Good carb and lots of protein. Buckwheat pancakes and eggs is good. Also makes good noodles (soba)

Bukwheat has decent macros. It isn't actually a grain though and just a high-carb seed.

Good taste, texture is meh. A nice way to mix things up.

Grew up with it in eastern europe, as cheap as oats but takes longer to make, you choose.

Eating a mix of oats and buckwheat every morning with whole milk and yoghurt. Doesn't have much taste, but I live a life of penance.

It just tastes so bland. My wife usually cooks it with carrots and onions but it still tastes like nothing.
