coffee/caffeine addiction is actually a very shitty addiction to have.

This is true. It also catches up to you. Many long-time coffee drinkers speak of being re-sensitized to caffeine.

I started getting really fricked up migraines after decades of drinking coffee without a problem. Had no idea it was the coffee at first. I'll lose part of my field of vision due to the visual aura. I'll start talking and start slurring my speech. I'll use the wrong words when I'm talking. If I write anything down in the middle of these migraines I'll often be missing letters in words that I've always known. I'll even be missing words in my sentences when I type. Honestly thought I was having a stroke the first few times this happened. Terrifying. I don't get them when I'm not drinking coffee. The weird thing is that these migraines can be triggered by drinking too much or too little coffee. I'd get them cutting back or increasing my intake.

When the tank is empty opening the valve more doesnt do much. Gotta refill, ying and yang. Bet you if you rest completely and eat well for a week or two coffee will work as it should again

      No bullshit.
A pinch of salt in your coffee stops the crash.

It's very good for you as long as you think of it as an ingredient. Mix it with lots of gelatin and milk and sugar.

I don't like coffee, since I need more than a tablespoon to feel its stimulating effects, and this is after not drinking it for almost 2 years. Also, the only time it ever tastes good is after you've refrained from having it for a while. But as soon as you decide to make a second cup, even if you make it exactly the same, it immediately just ends up tasting like shitty, sugary, bitter, coffee water. It's just not worth it for me, and I have no desire to drink it again. Thankfully I don't have an addictive personality, so it's not an issue for me.

I dont know but I stopped drinking it cold turkey a month ago cause it literally wasnt doing anything for me anymore. I could drink a cup and still be sleepy. So I decided to try quitting and it was easy af after the first few days. My sleep improved and i feel less tired throughout the day. My teeth are also becoming significantly more white, and I get a sense of superiority waking up in the morning ready to go after drinking some water as other people look like crackheads getting their caffeine fix.

Stopped consuming all caffeine outside of shit like chocolate a year ago and never felt better
No more runny shits in the morning from coffee and diet energy drinks, no more head fog in the morning, much better sleep.
I wake up by myself at 6am and feel instantly awake instead of slowly trying to come to my senses because the caffeine hit from yesterday has worn off.
Just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary

it's one the best substances you can drink. 3/4 cups a day essentially eliminates the chance you'll ever get dementia or Alzheimer's, it's excellent for your immune system, helps burn fat, and is extremely rich in antioxidants and polyphenols. It is directly linked to reduced depression and anxiety over time (not memeing, look it up). It essentially permamantly protects you against ever getting depression or memory issues as you age. Black coffee especially suppresses cancer risk and is linked to higher free testosterone. The downside is that it stains your teeth.

      >Only socially acceptable stimulant you can have at almost any time of day anywhere.
      > Just going to harp on the social aspect again. Coffee break in the office bond w coworkers, coffee date is low risk romantic activity, there aren't really drinks like this that you can have at 9 am and 9 pm which are both acceptable by society
      >Coffee was introduced to Europe during the transition from dark ages -> renaissance. Coincidence?
      >Coffee + Nicotine = POOPS 100%
      >Theodore Roosevelt the BULL MOOSE drank like 2 gallons of coffee a day.

I am also on the espresso train rn; more efficient. (though its boiler style, not true espresso)

I also go through seasonal cleanses (maybe 1-2x a year) where I kick caffeine for 2 weeks or so. Not a bad idea, and keeps me honest about "I could totally quit if I wanted to"

      pros and cons I guess

I use it to treat my undiagnosed ADHD. It can't just be coincidence that when I started drinking it in the 7th grade my grades went from C/D to A/B but always C in math because frick math. I'm almost 30 and it still works for me. Although, it's easy to get a high tolwrence if you abuse it. In high school I used to use caffeine pills for sports. By college I was drinking 5-8 cups a day just to get any effect. I'm a 1 or 2 a day now. Coffee is OK.

Coffee works wonders for my ADHD symptoms too, but it also makes it harder for me to sleep, which tires me out and actually worsens my ADHD symptoms... Frick this.

Made from seeds of a plant, seeds which plants want to defend and ensure get replanted so they are toxic, one of the toxins is caffeine.
People never talk about the other compounds which are definitely in coffee and give it a different effect, but likely theres a lot of pesticide residue and toxic biproduct from being a processed seed product. Makes me think of seed oil toxicity. Always thought that tea felt a bit lighter in comparison too other than the lower caffeine content, but caffeine itself isnt much good for you. Just ups stress hormones unnaturally to get you moving.

just stick to plain water, mental clarity and the condition of waking up is way better without any coffee at all
it might take 2-3 months until you start to notice the massive difference but its worth it

quitting bread, sneed oils and coffee is some of the smartest decisions you can make for your mental health, general fitness & well-being
    > quit bread
    > quit sneed oils
    > quit coffee
literally the "Big 3 of Quality of life"

and maximize the results with replacing all carbs with potatoes, carrots, broccoli along with an apple a day to keep the nose away

Not the worst thing in the world. An occasionally cup before 4-5pm won't hurt you at all.

I stopped drinking caffeine for a while with interesting results, but ultimately I enjoy the feeling of optimism that caffeine gives and the work day is too boring without it. People on here will tell you literally anything that’s enjoyable is bad for you, but then if you cut out everything you enjoy, leaving only work, what’s even the point?

It's tasty, and I love it. The caffeine is bad for you, especially if it starts affecting your sleep, and coffee can irritate the bowels (especially cheap stuff with pesticide residue or bacteria from poor storage). Bad digestion and sleep will make everything else in life harder.
I try to sidestep/mitigate the bad health effects by adhering to some easy rules:
    - buy quality coffee with a good pedigree to minimize risk of digestive distress (I buy beans from a couple of local hipster cafes that are vigilant with sourcing because I'm sensitive to this one)
    - no coffee within 90 minutes of waking or ten hours of bedtime (messes with sleep cycle and cortisol levels), unless it's decaf
    - keep caffeine intake to a minimum: single shot of espresso in lattes, or just go decaf
    - mitigate the teeth stain with a little cream/milk if you're not eating food at the same time
    - be hydrated and fed before drinking coffee in the morning to minimize gut irritation

TL;DR: it's tasty but not good for you. You can mitigate negative health effects if you want to.
