In theory stretching should induce some hypertrophy if its intense enough.

    >have excellent calf genetics and never need to work them out
My advice to you would be to run. There's good evidence that calves respond most to low intensity high repetition. Learn to do forefoot running and run 10 miles a week as a supplement to your leg work

yeah. mine were excellent when i was a regular runner. feels like they're designed to respond best to regular steady punishment over long periods. running is pretty good at that. other options include cycling, or being fat (assuming you're not immobile)

like any pro sport, ballet unfortunately boils down to genetics and has highly selective criteria for who will be a "good" ballet specimen... it's not just about who can do the movements, is fit enough, or can dance well, you also have to be rail thin and tall to fit the traditional body type that the art values, even if it is a pretty arbitrary and artificial set of physical criteria. Up until puberty most girls who do the same exercises are gonna have more or less the same build in terms of muscle and probably close to the same height, but it must suck if you're this girl when puberty hits and suddenly you explode with muscle mass and stay relatively stout, when that is the exact opposite of the phenotype that ballet values. It must suck to start young and then puberty automatically separates the wheat from the chaff and determines your future in dance. Guarantee that no matter how talented this girl is as a ballet dancer, she is not getting meaningful roles in ballet productions and if she wants to remain in the field will probably have to be a teacher

Calf muscles respond better to endurance training. After all, they are made that way for us to walk on all day.

do 100 bodyweight calf raises in a row off of a raised edge, be sure to imagine the calf fibers pulling in and do them slowly

good idea. How does this compare to using dumbells one at a time off just the ground? That's what I usually do. Right leg 15-20x 70 lbs, then left leg full range of motion from the ground.

Do 100 BW calf raises 5 times every other day and see if they don't grow.
It's just that you dysgenic moron braincels unironically think muscles grow in mass and aesthetics by compound lifting a heavy slab of metal for 30 times a week.

Why do Asians have huge calves?

There's this Asian guy that I see at my gym in the squat racks sometimes. His numbers aren't even that great and we're around the same size but his calves are frickhuge. Is it unironically all genetics?

Calves don’t respond to anything less than 25 reps. But instead of doing 50 rep calf raise sets like a homosexual, hiking especially backpacking is a much more fun and effective way of growing calves. And you’ll actually have interesting stories to tell instead of being a loser who only does gym specific exercises to impress women

I have incredible calves, but they were made when I was still a DYEL lanklet. I hadn't even realized they were growing so much until my gf pointed them out.
I'm not 100% certain of what it was that did it, but I was biking an average of 8 miles a day and going on at least one moderate hike a week, so these anons suggesting low intensity high volume might be right

15 sets a week split across 2-3 workouts. Pause at the bottom, no bouncing. Pause at the top. Sets of 15-30 work best.

Start barefoot running. Your calvs are made to be shockbreakers and will get the workout they need when you run properly. At first I could barely run for 1 minute without getting sour calvs. I run once a week and have doms for the entire week. Gains have been great
