Retard here.

moron here.

I remember IST used to be very much on-board low-carb / keto, but now I see ketolard is a meme and there's a lot of anti-keto posts.

When did this happen, and what are the studies I should read that debunk keto?

It's all Moxyte, a plebbit-using vegan who trolls this board day and night. Anyone who unironically uses the term "ketolard" or "ketoschizo" or posts anti-meat propaganda with no argument or logic is the same guy.

keto diets work but aren't sustainable, everyone I've met in real life who has done it eventually balloons back up

low carb high protein and fat is the optimal diet of course, to keep your body in ketosis for as long as possible
I would also recommend fasting to help this process along with a myriad of other health benefits you will gain

It doesn’t work without insane calorie restriction or starving yourself with stimulants. That’s obviously not sustainable. Fat makes you fat. Keto is swimming upstream if your goal is to be shredded with low body fat.

why even go in such a fad diet? Its calories in and calories out, thats literally all you have to do. You can eat like absolute shit, but as long as you don't go over your calorie maintenance you will never gain weight. All you have to do is hit you protein macro and watch your calorie intake.

How about a study that found low carb diets increase all cause mortality by 32%

      >no definition of "low carb" given
      lol
      >The reduced intake of fibre and fruits and increased intake of animal protein, cholesterol, and saturated fat with these diets may play a role.
      >>>may
      lmao

      >animal protein, and specifically red and processed meat, has already been linked with an increased risk of cancer
yeah just lump "red" and "processed" together because they're the same thing of course. Let's lump eggs and cigarettes together too and say they both cause lung cancer.

      >Differences in minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals might also be involved.
i.e. none of these things were accounted for in this slam dunk of a study

      >The researchers also examined the link between all-cause death and low carbohydrate diets for obese (body mass index [BMI] 30 kg/m2 or greater) and non-obese (BMI under 30 kg/m2) participants in two age groups (55 years and older versus under 55) and found that the link was strongest in the non-obese older participants.
      Being obese is healthy goyim!

      >He concluded: "Our study highlights an unfavourable association between low carbohydrate diets and total and cause-specific death, based on individual data and pooled results of previous studies. The findings suggest that low carbohydrate diets are unsafe and should not be recommended."
Again, how low "Study author Professor Maciej Banach" from the ~~*European Society of Cardiology*~~?

More importantly, what do you recommend??? I was worried for a second I would have to give up my bidaily mars bars but thankfully your thorough and exhaustive study has made me realize I can keep washing them down with a 2l bottle of coke. Thank goodness for the European Society of Cardiology!

Nice damage control homosexual. You made a moronic claim and I btfo'd you by simply reading the fricker. Why would I post my physique? I eat like 120g carbs a day so I'm clearly not keto, but I'm guessing that's breakfast carbs for a doughball like you.

You haven't addressed anything in my post and your "study" is a joke my little jellybaby. How about your post the playdough physique that a healthy diet of essential M&Ms and skittles builds instead of begging for dick pics? That's if you haven't fallen asleep by now in a sugar crash before you could reach for the next mars bar

Most of us have done it and simply had bad experiences. The carbohydrate is a life affirming energy source. Also the realization that seed oils, a fatty acid, is responsible for most modern diet issues made many of us realize that sugar isn't the worst macro.

Keto is a multi-billion dollar business and there would hundreds of keto shills who flooded all internet forums with keto shilling to direct shekels into their business.
Not too unlike how crypto shills flooded business forums and took over the internet.

People were debating on IST in 2020-2021 pretty hard due to the lock-downs giving everyone lots of free time, and the keto shill science got btfo really hard each time, so it became quite obvious to everyone who wasn't financially motivated that it was just another fad to make money off of people's health.
The seed oil scare did a lot to damage keto's reputation, especially since keto grifters used to promote drinking refined seed oils is healthier than eating rice and potatos.

I never bought into the whole keto nonsense, I actually was a near-fruitarian for a while, which isn't the optimal way to be either (but a lot closer than you probably think). I think it's the following:

    1) People have actually been scientifically shown to do very well under keto - if they are near-death due to being severely morbidly obese for decades and have type 2 diabetes and are in desperate need to lower their sugar levels to as low as physically possible.
tl;dr: In very, very, very specific extreme cases keto can actually be good for you instead of horrific for you.

    2) People who want to build muscle get the feeling viscerally that they need more protein, as if the more protein the better which is not true. Keto gives people and excuse to eat more protein. It's this bullshit idea that keto will help bodybuilding and all the fat in your body will turn to muscle because you're eating protein. It's such bullshit, but superficially it's an alluring image.

    3) A lot of the problem foods, eg. candy, fries, pizza, cakes, soda, are full of carbs. Obviously you're going to lose weight if you don't eat these incredibly unnatural and processed foods.

That's it really. Over time people usually learn from the past and things are improved. Ketardism was a particularly difficult religious-like thing to get over, but when all the people doing it started just getting fat, bald, old-looking and unhealthy, if not outright dying, it started becoming quite obvious.

I'll add one more I forgot 4) The idea of man the hunter, going off and hunting like a manly, testosterone-driven thing. Meanwhile you have all the womenz and gay guys doing gay shit like caring about animals and shit being vegan, hurrr.

Used to do keto like 10 years ago. It's mostly a satiety thing that also forces you to be aware of what you put into your body. Fewer blood sugar spikes from carbs reduces chance of random snacking/overeating. It can be effective, but no techniques will save you if you're moronic about it.
