Id be surprised if you dont have shin splints

The inside of my right ankle hurts when I run barefoot but no shin splints. I’m not a toe guy but they look sexy no lie.

I've been running exclusively in the GEL-Cumulus 25s for the last year
It's a comfy line of shoes, it's not quick and it isn't the top tier foam, but they're quite good and I got two pairs for cheap so it was fine for training
Unless your easy running pace is faster than 5/km I don't think you need anything more than a daily trainer like the nimbus, all the carbon plated super shoes etc. are designed around quicker paces and it actually matters

I will say while they aren't badly made, the durability is a little lower than I hoped given the type of shoe

I have the GT 2000 which are nice and I only paid 98 so idk how the hell you’re paying 210 for some ASICS

  11. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

You fricked up. The nimbus 25 are a lot better and on sale. In reality you should have bought the more v4 since it’s a way better shoe if you’re looking for max cushion.

I've been running in these. Very bouncy, responsive, yet light. However they don't have a hard rubber sole like the previous cumulus I had (maybe 23), so much better performance but lower durability.

Asics are the best and last forever. Those particular ones are pretty weird as frick though - and expensive to boot. That massive heel cushion is just going to encourage bad form, i.e heel strike, and frick your knees over time

      >That massive heel cushion is just going to encourage bad form, i.e heel strike, and frick your knees over time
Not if you run properly lol
High drop shoes are proveably lower injury for running
Bad for walking but if you’re fat enough for walking to injur you then you have bigger problems

        >High drop shoes are proveably lower injury for running
Because everyone is a heel striker, because they always wore high drop shoes with max cushioning. Science is so stupid.

I have a pair of 25s, assuming its roughly the same design be careful of puddles in the winter, they take ages to dry and if it has the same dotted holes soles pattern make sure you dont step in dog turds because it is very, very not fun to clean out shit with a toothpick

some minimalist ones that cost 20-40$

      Anonymous

Go to a shop to get your gait measured and the type of shoes you should use. Then look online for reviews and pick a cheap one with good reviews.
Don't start with barefoot/minimalist running, is better to get used to run and then add barefoot running little by little.
What you may be interested is to begin practicing midfoot strike from the beginning. There is a lot of science and pro mid and heel strike defenders so do your own research. IMO mid is better to avoid injuries and absolutelly necessary of you want to go minimalist some day
