Rucking and running

Has anyone here tried running with a shield? Also tips and stories on rucking in general? Miss me with that gay bullshit about US "soldiers" having shit knees and joints after years of rucking - they're barely /IST as is and it's also all about the mindset. I aim to climb a high and difficult mountain in full armor twice, once with a horse and once without.

Serious question. Do you use lube when rucking or do you take it raw for max gains?

What would you even lube up?

Are you a paladin or a death knight?

Op is more than likely a DK, since the pic is severely lacking in any sort of pseudo-religious iconography

No but in the military you normally carry your weapon when you ruck so thats still roughly equivalent to the asymmetrical weight distribution you’re looking for. It’s really nothing special. My platoon would carry axes sometimes so we wouldn’t have to wake up early to draw our weapons from the armory when we would ruck for PT.
It’s decent for mental toughness and will burn a shitload of calories but there is definitely a threshold for injury you should be aware of and not be glib about. I broke both my feet from stress fractures on a ruck once.
If your stride length is dialed in and you’re not stomping or going over uneven terrain your knees and back will probably be alright as long as you don’t run under weight.
Not sure what you’re trying to get out of this but I hope this is helpful to you, best of luck

How heavy would the equipment/asymmetry be?

An m4 is going to be between 7-11 pounds depending on if it’s loaded or unloaded and how much shit is mounted on it, like optic, peq, grenade launcher, et cetera.
A SAW is more likely 15-20 depending on the length of and presence of the belt and attachments once again
240 going to be 25-40+ (Really gets difficult to guesstimate because you could have a starter belt of varying length, variable amount of ammo, optic or no optic, tripod or not, and more. More variables than the other weapons and all of them significantly heavier. You will be using both hand to carry this)
I just did a google search and it says the average 24 inch shield is 8 pounds so the weight and asymmetry is going to be pretty similar

how about you just get a backpack and put weights in it like a normal slightly autistic person instead of a fully autistic person running around with a shield

      >Has anyone here tried running with a shield?
Save it for the renaissance fair. Just run with a weighted vest and dumbbells.

      >Has anyone here tried running with a shield?
What do you think? Just get a weighted vest otherwise you're going to look like a lunatic.

Why would you assume that I'm a mentally well adjusted individual if I'm posting on IST? I'll be running with a shield and I'll later on add either a second shield or a heavy ass weapon like a war sword.
A weighted vest isn't a bad idea tho

If you're fine looking like a crazy person do it, it's not hurting anyone. Weighted vests are probably much easier to acquire though.

Stop being a fricking girl and post your body
Either way, rucking WILL rape your joints, and the veterans suffering from it, are more IST than you.
