Sweet begeezus I cannot believe why I was ever in the home gym master race. After 3+ years of casually lifting in my home gym I had to get a gym membership for rehab and it's literally changed everything.
I thought it'd be awkward being surrounded by people but it just forces met to not waste time.
I fricking love the calf machine. Heck, a lot of the "weird" machines have actually been godsends for my gains.
I never realised how awful my home cable machine was until I actually used a proper one and I could never go back.
Feels good man

Same here. 2015-2021 home gym
2022 joined local gym and after experiencing the difference in having access to tons of different shit I sold all my home gym shit
Actually sold the home gym for 3X what I paid for it as well.
The membership is only like $20 month, bought my home gym for $1500 in 2015 and sold it in 2021 for $4500
Oh and another thing, I goto the gym at 5am and there’s nobody there, so it’s basically like a home gym anyway.
$20 a week? Geez I envy you. My gym is $15 a *week*
I swear gyms are much more expensive here in Australia. I always assumed it was like a Netflix subscription but all the gyms where I live charge pretty big weekly fees.
Everything is more expensive in Oz because of your protectionist nanny state
I have a home gym but I also travel a lot so use public gyms to. I love using a public gym but sometimes when you're stood waiting for equipment, I wish I was back in my home gym. Both hands their pros and cons. If you can find a decent local affordable gym that isn't over crowded, there is no need for a home gym.
I agree, but the 'Rona showcased an important advantage that home gyms have over public ones: they are immune to lockdowns.
Unfortunately for me it's either planet fitness, overpriced recreational centers or home gym. Home gym is probably the most beneficial for my scenario.
I'm not gunna lie I'm married and my wife doesn't look as good as she once did and I work from home the only reason I join a gym is to get away from the wife and kids and ogle at 23 year olds
Ha ha based domestic perv. The women are there to inspire you to go further.
> I just love the hustle and bustle of city life reddit.
home gyms archetypes:
>future school shooter
>gave up on society
>too ugly to be in public
>porn addicted social coward
>mom raised me to be a fat boy
>scared of the world
>waaah i have to drive twenty minutes :***-(
>autism as an excuse to be antisocial
>no dad, I'm not winning
> Either go early enough to be able to work the routine.
> Gym is after that filled with zoomers or whatever.
> Only want to spend minimal time on gym work.
> Can't be arsed to do leg work to go to the gym when most can be achieved at home.
>waste 40 minutes driving and additional getting ready
If you think this is not an important factor you are probably a NEET and should kys
where the frick do you live that it takes 40 minutes to drive to a gym, move somewhere that's not a shithole and you can walk to one in like 10 minutes.
Also what do you have to do to get ready, do you put on makeup or some shit?
>not putting on lipstick in case ~~*he*~~ is at the gym
Are you even trying?
20 minutes each way, dumb frick
If you don't shower before the gym you're also probably indian
>where the frick do you live that it takes 40 minutes to drive to a gym
Anywhere with traffic can easily be 20 minutes. If you are rural then it’s a 20 minute drive anywhere.
>move somewhere that's not a shithole and you can walk to one in like 10 minutes.
>walking
>not living in a shithole
Where do you live? Also all of the places that are nice to live, don’t have winter, and have a good gym within walking distance are also busy and usually more expensive. Why would I pay more to be around people I don’t know or care for and wait to use equipment? I can save time and money and workout better at home.
Post body
Bros have their reasons. Dont sabotage them.
>Has GF too afraid to set foot in gym
>Tells friends he will hangout, stays home and works out instead
>Enjoyer of cooming between sets
>Uses home gym to dry clothes more than use the equipment
>Pets motivated him to workout, workouts with them
>Healthier hoarding activity than funko pops
>Taker of numerous videos of self working out even when nude.
>Neighbors hate how loud he has the music, doesnt give a frick.
Literally ALL me
>live in university town
>have to wait 20-30 minutes in line for a rack because of the roving packs of zoomers
>at every location I've tried
>at every hour of the day
I don't miss it.
>zoomers
>every hour of the day
>uni town
if its actually a uni town, they all will go to the school gym since its free membership for all students.
if its actually zoomers, they wont go in the morning or at night because they like to have fun doing shit.
i dont think you have actually been outside
Uni gyms are unusable because they're free.
When I was a student the receptionist put us on a wait list when it was at capacity, which was often.
You're also underestimating how many students lift now, and how many do it socially. The runoff is huge.
>uni gym
>free membership for all students
Excuse me? What planet are you on?
Volume at home and PRs at the gym should be the way to do this.
Volume at home since you can take all the time you want on any equipment.
PRs at gym because you don't risk damaging your fricking home when you fail. Also for gym mires
Dumbest thing I've heard. PR's at home since you want chalk, loud music, smelling salts and screaming. Damaging your equipment? 3x3 11g steel isn't going to get damaged. Maybe scuffed. Who cares if you have to dump a 405+ lb bench press at home? I wouldn't want to do that at a commercial gym
Why would you want to damage your home + your equipment?
Its okay to say you are insecure with yourself and why you want to do all this shit at home but don't act like denting your floor cause you had to bail on a squat is better over dropping the weights at the gym where the floors were actually made to withstand such a drop.
Just use spotters you fricking moron
Or, don't fail
>Why would you want to damage your home + your equipment?
Why would you be damaging your home or equipment? The bar and rack won’t fricking care. Are you afraid of dropping heavy cleans and hitting the wall or what?
Denting my floor. I've got 6" thick concrete covered in 3/4" horse stall mats. Do you even realize that not everyone lives in some shitty apartment like you. Also barbells are meant to be dropped and take abuse. My Rogue OPB has a tensile strength of over 205,000 PSI. Racks are meant to get used and scraped up. You're probably the same guy who would get mad about holster wear on your pistol (which is also a tool).
>t holster wear on your pistol (which is also a tool)
Americans are so fricking gay and stupid
>seething noguns
Kill yo self
>Do you even realize that not everyone lives in some shitty apartment like you
snowflake who NEEDS to turn a conversation about them. we got an anon talking about his set up and why he has it set up like this and you here talking about how special you are
What kind of fail do you do where you damage anything at all?
dropping the weights onto my floor. I live in an apartment so I have barbell, squat stand, and weights. So if I were to do a deadlift PR and I need to drop the weight or the barbell slips out of my hand, the floor will no doubt get damaged.
If I fail a squat, I have to drop the weight so squat stands don't have safeties.
Not all home gyms are equal I guess is the take away here
Horse stall mats dude
Yea I realize there are solutions to my problem but I like to keep my home gym minimal. Barbell, squat stand, bench, and weights is really all I want for my place. Also I like the gym mires I get, not from my lifts, when I go out.
>just use spotters moron!!!
>or dont fail
most dyel answer ive heard
No homosexual, you are just an insecure pussy who needs attention for his 2.5pl8 squat and frets like a woman you're going to break shit; I promise your house can handle your baby ass weights unless it's soi incarnate
>you are just an insecure pussy
That was pretty cute. When the bell rings, get back to algebra.
DYEL?
Post legs
So instead of buying a power cage cheaply you bought a stupid squat stand? A rubber flooring piece costs max 50 bucks, buy two and drops you’re so called “DL PR” onto that then. If you were actually lifting heavy shit you wouldn’t have bought a garbage home gym to begin with.
>If you were actually lifting heavy shit you wouldn’t have bought a garbage home gym to begin with.
I said do volume at home and PRs at gym you absolute dunce. What part of my plan confuses you so much?
What part of keeping home gym minimal confuses you? See I can take my gym equipment to someone else's house and workout with them real easily with my setup. With yours, you have to plan ahead of time just to take your shit with you. And thats the point, I live in an apartment you dunce.
This, my gym has Hammer Strength machines and they're the breasts. Luv to start with free weights and then finish to failure on them Hammy Stremfs
>tired after work
>take 10 steps
>now at gym
>workout
>walk back 10 steps
>go to bed
This shit is max comf. Share more shit, anything.
Is it well insulated? Looks like it might be cold but what do I know? I don't get winters in my country.
It gets cold as shit my dude but you can easily build up some sweat and be fine.
I changed the layout a bit yesterday, it’s a tiny space but I think I figured out where I want everything.
Breh… I’m so jealous.
I am 37 and live in a small town. The only gym is also the one at the high school. They let residents pay to use it to get some extra cash for new equipment and stuff like that. All of the HS guys call me "Girth Brooks" and laugh when I say phrases to hype myself up before big lifts.
Should I buy some home equipment?
Nah. Sounds like a fun experience with a healthy community. Mentor some of those morons and drive them away from hip hop and tiktok.
Plus you're helping the local highschool with some cash.
If anything I'd get a half rack and some weights to have the option at home in case you can't go or don't feel like leaving your home.
>Power cage
>Adjustable bench
>Double layer 6'x8' horse stall mat deadlift platform
>2 barbells, 600lbs in weights from 2.5lb to 45lbs
>3 dumbbell handles, 300 lbs in weights from 2.5lbs to 25lbs
>Light punching bag
>All my equipment and accessories on a table, don't have to lug the shit around in a bag
>Wall AC unit, 2 box fans
>Bluetooth speaker I can play whatever I want on
I'm never not having a home gym
Is this some moronic poorgay cope?
I can use padded safeties and platforms to keep my shit from getting fricked up when I have to drop the bar in my homegym because I built it that way.
I don't have to listen to Black person zoomshit homosexual music. I can blast Bolt Thrower and Slayer with all the fricking volume I want because I soundproofed my basement.
I don't have to be afraid of some homosexual giving me a fungus, monkeypox or some other shit because he jizzed on the bench.
I can workout whenever I fricking want. Be it early in the morning, after coming home from work, before going to sleep or at 3 fricking AM because I don't give a shit.
I don't have to deal with homosexual ass gym etiquette or deal with annoying shitheads who think they can lecture me about form and shit when I bench their squat max for reps.
>Muh machines
Are you afraid of the big boy weights you little homosexual?
>Is this some moronic poorgay cope?
Yes. The only other explanation is someone who doesn’t have any discipline to workout at home and needs peer pressure or a trainer to do anything.
The only exception are high level athletes or when you need to workout with a team. OP is neither.
Wait. You guys aren't lifting naked on your driveway as the sunrises at your secluded home in the woods? Lame.
Is it just me or does working out naked feel weird to anybody? Like it almost feels like I can get injured more easily when I workout completely nude
I don’t like my dick swinging around. But nothing beats squatting in boxers
Ehhh, i guess its just me. I honestly like working out with clothes on. The feeling of friction makes me feel more secure about my footing and placement of the bar on my back.
Well you are definitely going to be colder but idk about chance for injury, seems like a meme mostly
It felt weird to me at first, but I kept doing it because I was on this whole Greekpill thing I was doing. I just don't do anything where the bar might come near my dick naked to be safe, but for a majority of exercises I am nude.
I have the same feeling
>gymnastic rings
>weighted vest
literally all you need
>He doesn't train posterior chain
>what are Nordic curls and pull ups
How do you do nordic curls on rings?
You don't.
This was my first home gym at my fricking apartment. I dropped 150kg on those stupid ass foam shits with no issue. This isn’t my setup anymore because I realised it was too stupid to go this minimal. And why the frick would I put my home gym in my car and drive that shit to my buddy?
>bumper plates
I know this was for me. Does this work with iron plates though?
>Why would I put my home gym in my car and drive somewhere?
Im guessing girls don't ask for your "advice" too often huh? Nor do you have any friends you want to introduce lifting too and then have a bbq afterwards huh?
Maybe I should be more explicit with my social activities here since you autistic morons can't seem to fathom the idea of why you would want to workout somewhere that isn't a cold dark room alone.
>You have to workout alone in your home gym
>You can't bring people over to your house if you have a home gym
That's some interesting cope for why you have to pay for your gym membership every month.
>You always go somewhere else to workout?
Are you trolling me or are you actually autistic? Who said I don't invite people over? Im telling you what my options are you absolute dunce. Its almost like nothing is possible unless someone conceptualizes an idea about working out in the morning and then having a bbq/jump in pool afterwards.
But to me it just sounds like you have no friends and can't think of any reason why someone would want to workout elsewhere.
I think you honestly NEED this win so go ahead. Tell yourself you were right again on IST and hopefully that makes you happier.
I think you need to lurk more, that is not how meme arrows work
This is me anon, sleep well.
Cringe, lurk more underage
Alright alright I can understand your point with working out with a buddy. Good reason for a regular gym tbf. I would never bring my gym to any of my friends but I have given my old gym shit to one of my guys.
I’m gonna be honest and say no to the girls asking for advice, most are my ring on my finger and ask about other shit instead.
Anyway it sucks that you can’t workout at home with a greater capacity but you seem to find ways around it. Wish you luck with your home gym in the future. It’s addicting to add shit to it.
Fair play. I thought you were trolling me and just wanted to argue for no reason.
Its honestly fun to have an extra early gym session in one of your friend's backyard then start grilling right afterwards. Spend the entire Sunday watching the game, in the pool, good food, and invite other friends over who didn't want to work out.
I do like to keep my gym minimal as a personal preference though. I am just listing some benefits of keeping gym equipment low and having another place you can workout at.
Anyway, have good day anon. Hope your next workout is a good one.
>And why the frick would I put my home gym in my car and drive that shit to my buddy?
Wat?
>I thought it'd be awkward being surrounded by people but it just forces met to not waste time.
This. Major factor I can never get anything done at home. Need the drive of mogging or showing off.
>Dude, I love the BANGIN and CLANGIN of a public gym! Come work out with me at my gym, we have a sauna and a spa next to the lap pool! And dude, dude, there’s a smoothie bar where we can get drinks and pre-workout, it’s so great! It’s way better than a home gym! The even have a little playground for my wife’s boyfriend’s kid!
>Dude, I love the BANGIN and CLANGIN of a public gym! Come work out with me at my gym, we have a sauna and a spa next to the lap pool! And dude, dude, there’s a smoothie bar where we can get drinks and pre-workout, it’s so great!
Honestly that sounds nice if it weren’t overpriced.
>t home gym master race
>dayjob is coder
>work from home all day
>gym is daily routine to get OUT of house
>has people i sometimes talk to
>has girls i sometimes ogle or talk to (they're people too)
>has more equipment than I could ever want
>has all the cardio machines
>can use their locker room & shower & towel
>less laundry for me and my own home's shower doesn't get as used/dirty
going to the gym has many benefits
>Cardio machines
>Wants to use some pride poxed gym shower instead of his own shower
>Considers gym prostitutes people
Literal soibean detected.
Who is it anons? I see these anti home-gym threads like every couple of weeks, always starting subtle and then samegayging hard in the replies.
Why are they so mad about people owning exercise equipment?
qui?
Unironically israelites who want everyone to pay subscriptions for everything that can be canceled at a moment's notice.. No one should care what methods people are using to exercise as long as they aren't obnoxious morons about it.
Oh yeah, home gyms are for busy parents with extra space at home. Otherwise you're just some kind of antisocial shut in. NO EXCEPTIONS, unless you live in bumfrick nowhere. Hell, my gym has a childcare area so I just bring mine with me.
>antisocial
You say that like it's a bad thing
It is a bad thing but keeping telling yourself otherwise, loser
ew
can someone please post the fit adjustable dumbell guide
all i got from his was you:
>have no discipline to not waste time on own
>use useless machines
I had a gym membership for 10 years.
1. Anytime I want to go 11AM, 6AM, 6PM, 8fricking PM - The squat racks are full, only days you can get on the bench are tues/thurs
2. Have to deal with annoying fricking gym franchise bullshit, The gym I was at in GA was based as frick. fat old boxer at the counter, never bothered you during your workout. Everywhere else? Hey, you know we do personal training. Did you want to sign up for some tanning bed time? Frick off.
3. Fricking zoomer women squatting 60lbs on the rack for an hour taking 10 minute breaks between sets.
Nah dude, I've got pulley's, dumbbells, and an adjustable rack with olympic plates/rubber plates, and a heavy bag. There's nothing I want in a gym.
