Should a fat guy lose weight or gain muscle first?

Am a fat, and I wanna change that. As I was reading "Beginner's Health and Fitness Guide" it said that you can't lose weight AND build muscle at the same time. So which is better? I want to be buff, but would the fat I already have get in the way? (make me look fatter) Would my quality of life improve by losing the fat first?
Also you have to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight, but consume more calories to gain muscle. So if I'm fat now could I get away with weightlifting while being on a caloric deficit?

    Lose fat, not weight.
You're already wearing a 100lbs bodysuit at all times.
You're basically the size of a roidtroony under all that fat.

a lot of a fat person's muscle is actually atrophied due to lack of use and limited ROM

Yup. Amd skinnyfats too. If skinnyfays just lifted weights for 5 months and eat the same as normal they would gain muscle and lose fat. But they dont believe it...

Not true. Most fat people, unless they have the genetics to be naturally muscular, are weak skellies underneath the fat

        >muscular systems that are forced to carry an extra 60-100lb of fat all over themselves are actually super weak bro and no different than people who are just skinny skeletons

Your both right. Fatties will have very strong lower body from carrying the weight but upper body will be very weak in comparison. It’s why fat guy calves are a thing.

            Anonymous

Yes, aside from their calves they're super weak.

your chest and arms arent moving that weight. Just your legs and calves. Fatties can squat like 2pl8 no problem. But still will have little baby arms that can barely bench the bar.

Do you think the upper body strength of nonlifting skeletons is equal to nonlifting fatties? You guys are so fricking stupid it's laughable.

Fats are sedentary fat fricks who don't move or do any activity you mong ofc they'll be atrophied and weak, easily tipped over

Aren't there quite a few different foods that are just naturally gonna make you get little testosterone boosts here and there giving small muscle gains over time
same goes for growth hormone shit in different types of random food
guess it also depends on whether you're a fatty with a shit diet or fatty that eats somewhat cleaner (less soda and chips and more pigging out on meats/milk and that type of thing)

How fricking stupid are you? Look at any of the fat fricks who dropped hundreds of pounds on leddit. If they weren't doing heavy weightlifting while dropping lbs, they look like dire dyel shit. My boy Andy, an absolute behemoth at 6'3" 400lbs, went on omad keto and dropped to 200lbs. His arms are skinnier than my lanklet noodles

I'm not saying all fats are strong just cause they're fat.
I'm not saying they're not weak.
You morons are saying there is no difference in upper body strength between nonlifting skeletons and nonlifting fats and that's why I'm mocking you all.

skellingtons have better hormones because they have less fat to lean body mass.

No one said anything about hormones; why are you replying to me?

Lose weight first via caloric deficit, aim for 0.5-2 lbs lost per week, make sure you're getting enough protein and weight training so that as much of the weight you lose is fat. t. fatty who was (and still is but making progress) in your situation.

It's true for lower body muscles but not for upper. I can squat bodyweight easily but I'm still at the beginner level for a lot of upper body exercises

Go ahead and explain how having 10-20lb of fat around your arms 24/7 for years doesn't lead to stronger muscles in that area compared to nonlifting skeletons.

                Anonymous

nutrient partitioning and sedentary lifestyles significantly reduce the amount of muscle on fat people. A nonlifting skeleton would probably have more muscle mass than a nonlifting fat simply because their hormones would be more likely to be in balance and their body wouldn't be constantly fighting a losing battle for homeostasis.

Only true of fatties who are active (most fatties are inactive and sit/stand most of the time). Fatties have moronic muscle production due to fricked up hormones.

why are you arguing with morons?
fat people arms carry the weight of 20kg barbells.
they wiggle then arround all day.
a fat frick will always have more strength than someone skinny simply by carrying the extra weight arround. they would be unable to exist otherwise.
you are right and they are dumb fricking idiots or trolls.
          >i-i-its only lower body
no, you c**t. its not. lower body gets the whole brunk of fat, but the upper body, shouldern and arms still have to carry the rest.

Just lift and eat less, y9u will get gains because you are a newbie and will lose fat. You will get a frame when you get leaner. Just do it.

Do a body recomp (google it for more info), aka losing fat and gaining muscle by recompositioning your body. It may take longer to see results if lil fat but will def see results fast if turbo fatty. It won't be as difficult/restrictive as hard cutting and therefore your more likely not to quit.

This site will help you too.

Cut to 12% bodyfat first before any bulk. Start lifting now. You'll be able to build some muscle of you're fat and untrained.

12% is too low. OP wants to put on muscle. Go down to 15-16% bf and then clean bulk

        Anonymous

        >clean bulk at 15%
lol. The vast majority of men look most attractive to women at 10-12% bf. At 15% op will just look slightly less skinny fat which is still worse than just being skinny.

        >inb4 lifting for women aka what at least 70% of people who hit the gym do

I'd consider 15% bf the minimum for bulking. If you want definition then cut more during the spring/summer season

        Anonymous

If you bulk from 15% you'll get like 3 months before needing to cut again. It's 12-17% and always has been

You can lose weight and build muscle. Building muscles just requires you eat enough protein while working out. Losing weight just requires you're in a net caloric deficit. That said if you must choose one, lose the weight first. Bulking when you're already fat just makes you more fat, which will then just lead to you giving up. Meanwhile, losing weight and seeing progress will give you the discipline needed to build the muscle later.
