Should I go to Nursing school?

Imagine you're a 25 year old Staff Sergeant in the Marines and being a grunt is slowly beginning to take its toll on your body...

Imagine you're jacked and relatively good looking but you're also pretty dumb and College is going to be a real struggle no matter what you choose to study...

Imagine you want a career where you're surrounded by easy pussy and don't mind putting up with working amongst retards because you are one and you feel at home...

Should I go for it? I see a few posts here from anons who are Nurses and I reckon I could make it so long as I could dedicate enough time to studying.

If you're content with taking care of people who are so incompetent that they are unable to take care of themselves, then sure, go for it.

This. Yeah you'll have lots of bitches around you, but it's a terrible idea to fuck them. Not only are most of them very self-centered and stupid (speaking from experience), but if you go breaking their hearts you could wind up in serious shit.

It doesn't matter what you go back to school for being older and having traveled will make them flock to you in school.
      The real questions are.
Can you pass the tough classes like anatomy.
Can you still be professional smelling and seeing a 400 lber after u pulled a living mushroom from the folds
Can you see yourself working every other weekend and holiday when you have a family?
Also, you can get a 2 year RN for cheaper but less preferred when hiring, but who cares most of the field rage quit or died, sellers market.

Male RN here. I'll answer you as honestly as I can.

As others have said, sleeping around with many of your coworkers is generally a bad idea and will get you in trouble eventually. Nurses LOVE to gossip so don't expect to be able to keep any secrets. If you bang someone you work with it WILL come out.

Also, be cautious of who you do decide to sleep with. A lot of nurses fit the single mother stereotype for a reason - many are unfit for marriage and will jump from man to man like they change underwear. The rare ones that actually make decent wives are taken in their early 20s. Nothing wrong with a little nookie, but as always make sure you don't stick your dick in crazy. A few years ago some day shift nurse on my unit slept with a male nurse and got a bit too attached. She ended up buying a fake positive pregnancy test and told the dude that he got her pregnant.

Now getting to the job - it can be quite shitty at times (literally). You won't always have PCAs available to clean your patients so get used to the smell of piss and poop. That being said, if you show that you're willing to jump in and do tech work, your PCAs will respect that and help you out when needed. All of the lazy nurses I work with that refuse to clean a patient or take a blood sugar inevitably get into conflicts with techs. Trust me when I say you don't want this kind of relationship with them since you will need a lot of assistance during a rough shift. If you're branded as lazy many of them won't go out of their way to help you.

However, the pay opportunities of nursing are enormous. Staff nurses usually make a bare minimum of $30/hr and quickly go up. Travel nurses routinely make $75/hr and up. If you gross less than $90k a year as a staff nurse then you're doing it wrong - hospitals are almost always short staffed and offer crazy incentives for picking up extra shifts. My facility offered $400 additional gross for every 4 hours due to rona.

      Good luck.

Luckily I I took a lot of my prerequisites with TA while still on active duty. Some classes (Anatomy lab comes to mind) I took by itself over the summer because it was really hard (don’t use GI benefits just pay out of pocket or take the loan). Also check you attitude and arrogance at the door. Being older is good because people assume your responsible but it can also get you in trouble like it did to me.

Dude, also a male RN here...

You can't "just go be a nurse" man it's fucking hard. You're talking 2-4 years of no lifing medical knowledge and sacrificing most of your former life to make it all happen. Most schools are not easy and working on top of it usually isn't realistic. Not to mention you actually have to apply first, and be smart enough to get in. You *can* do it, don't get me wrong, but you don't want this man.

Like the dude above said, you ARE going to get used to being covered in shit, piss, blood, vomit, sputum, and more.

Regarding women - yes there are a ton of attractive women, but tagging one would probably lead to an HR issue. Also, most are nuts. Geeked out on Adderall and psych meds to keep pace working as a brainwashed healthcare slave.

The state of nursing... It's at its historically worst point. Nurses are abused everywhere buddy. The OT is "optional" in the sense that mgmt may retaliate if you aren't willing to take it. Many such cases. Unless you can line up a union gig.

Big picture - you'll understand with time that the allopathic care of the modern world just means siphoning wealth from the ill and dying as they spiral down. Working for the devil in most cases.

As a nurse you are going to see death up close and your shit employer is probably not going to equip you with adequate staff or resources to change that. Many nurses just play fucking hot potato with crashing patients and don't try. Or they're so dumb that they don't even realize they're being neglectful. Then someone dies 30 minutes into your shift and then notifying doctor, family, coroner is in your lap. It's traumatic dude, not playing. I have consoled many a crying son, daughter, grandkid.

I am fortunate OP, I eventually was able to leave bedside and work as a RN in an office style setting where things aren't total shit. I escaped. But that's only because there's a mass exodus of nurses right now, so I snuck into a good position with little competition. That doesn't typically happen.

if you say that nursing is so difficult to get into, being smart is required, such hard work, etc, then why are all nurses apparently extremely hot dumb slutty blonde women? you even just said yourself "tons" of attractive women, but somehow they all are that smart and have the work ethic?

I enlisted in the army as a nurse (LPN). Got to sergeant and got out because it's a joke. I'm now in school for my bachelor's in nursing.

Nurses are whores yes. But many of them, like most Americans, are overweight or obese. And you're still competing with all the other males who want to fuck thr good ones so its not exactly ezpz, though easier maybe.

The classes are easy as fuck but I've done this for 7 years so idk.

Nursing is an incredible career that pays great, let's you do basically anything from admin to med surge to ICU to a fucking podiatry clinic or whatever. Even cruise ship nursing. The medicine is deeply interesting and basically there's no level cap as you'll never know everything, and even if you somehow learned everything that every doctor and specialist can somehow know, you need to keep up with innovating medical tech and drugs which keeps it Hispanicy. Bedside ultrasound getting more and more popular and immunotherapy are cool. Americans aren't getting healthier and you'll always have a job and good money. And its also rewarding if you're into that gay shit (I am, sometimes, I enjoy hoHispanice work ie: putting down old people)

    Yes.

    Nursing needs strong men.

I work in personal care myself, and I love it. The thing is it's an industry mostly dominated by women that often requires upper body strength, kind of absurd really. Nursing is different but there's overlap, it's less about what's in the job description and more about you being around when the care workers need to roll over some morbidly obese dude.

I'm a new grad nurse in California and I make $70/hr. Because of the nurses union here there's also a bunch of laws that protect nurses so its honestly not that bad. I work from 3-11:30pm 4 days a week, have plenty of time to lift and do hobbies and still make over $100k/year. If I wanted I could do 5 days a week and make more like $120-130k but I don't really feel like it right now cause I live at home w my parents and don't need to pay any rent so I'm saving up for a house. As for the females, some are cool, some are normie and some are completely insufferable bitches which is to be expected of any work place but more so with a female dominant field. I wouldn't fuck ur coworkers but they definitely will have friends for you to meet and fuck. As for the job in my opinion it's really not that bad if ur a tough strong disciplined stoic man. A lot of the complaining you hear from nurses is from women who just like to complain. I'm pretty lucky though on my unit it's like 40% guys 60% women which is pretty rare I think but the dudes I work with are all chill af.

Putting my 2 cents in here, there's been some good posts in this thread already. This post is long but read the whole thing.

The short answer is probably no. But the benefits first: the pay is very good right now, probably some of the best pay you'll get in the USA outside of tech; 3 12s is an appealing schedule; there's very strong demand; you can upskill later in your career through specialization, DNP, etc. The pros are mostly money related, keep that in mind.

The cons? There's a reason nursing is one of the highest turnover jobs in the country. Understaffing is RAMPANT: forced and mandatory overtimes, cancelled vacation, constant dealing with insanely vile and cruel and fucking retarded families and patients (if you've ever worked in food service, imagine those kinds of people but worse: violence against male nurses is common and nursing has one of the highest rates of workplace injury, even outside of psych nursing). You'll be dealing, usually, with some of the absolute dregs of society: do you like working with very obese and short tempered boomers who can't take care of themselves? Guess who makes up the majority of American healthcare patients?

You'll deal with absolute human suffering and literal fecal mater, piss, blood, vomit and other bodily fluids on a daily basis. Nursing has a "eat their own" attitude (especially since it's mostly women in the field) - there's a lot of workplace drama and petty stuff. The nursing curriculum is NOTHING like what you'll do in actual practice (aside from clinicals), and there's a lot of asinine STEM requirements and prereqs - nursing school is demanding, expensive and the NCLEX and licensing stuff is stupid as shit. Healthcare in the USA is ridiculously bloated and corrupt: the allopathic "keep alive at all costs" insurance model likely means you'll be actively keeping alive people and prolonging the suffering of those who should've naturally died a long time ago. Many nurses live very unhealthy lifestyles (1/2)

Most healthcare places are still doing the covid shuck and jive, and you'll have to wear an N95 for 12 hours a day indefinitely, as well as booster mandates and stuff like that which were legally upheld for healthcare. Working with women all day sounds fun but it's actually far less enjoyable: there's a lot of backstabbing and office politics that you have to tiptoe around constantly, it's the opposite of a very male environment like the military (or what it used to be).

Long story short, if you're in nursing for the money, you'll hate it. Nursing has one of the highest burn and attrition rates for a reason. You might be illegally told to handle 8 beds on a wing, and due to understaffing have to take it as well as do CNA duties. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm giving you the reality of the situation as someone who went back to school for a BSN, was accepted, enrolled, and later dropped out after classes/clinicals after seeing the shitshow that is modern American healthcare. It's really not worth the money, for real, unless you actually like anything I described. You'll likely be much too tired and burnt out to lift, and forget about family stuff (as other posters have said). Hell, you're better off going into fucking education if you want a low barrier to entry, cushy nontech job - even school teaching is less shitty than nursing these days. Maybe some other people can chime in but this has been my experience as someone who was in your shoes not too long about and very deeply considered nursing for practical and altruistic reasons. These days, sadly, as a nurse, you're likely to do just as much harm as good.

I'm back in school for an master's in an education field. To any anons here: if you're attracted to nursing, you'll probably be attracted to teaching too - a social, non boring job where you can get promoted quickly if you're male in a very female field. People shit on teachers in the USA and rightly so but a lot of it is related to government curriculum stuff and not the profession as a whole, and it can be avoided by teaching only certain subjects or going the private/religious school route. You won't make as nearly much $$ for sure but you don't get to work with a shitty, suffering, and angry population (unless you do some inner city thug gig), you get 3 months of vacation a year, and once you get classroom management and lesson planning down it's pretty cruise control. Lots of time for lifting too. I would recommend teaching over healthcare or law enforcement for anyone looking for a non STEM route. I've also been accepted to a federal LE position and to my city's police academy and dropped out for similar very bad working conditions as nursing (yes I'm indecisive, kek).

Jesus Christ. Good luck with that transition. I couldn’t imagine. As a teacher at Texas A&M and a Corporal of Marines back in the gap. I’ll say, keep your dick in your pants and don’t shit where you sleep. Go find some fun chick who likes anal and have fun. You’ll be in a school/training environment for a while so have your fun there. College is overrated as fuck for getting pussy if you can already get laid. It’s just more opportunities not exactly quality. The young chicks will be a dime a dozen but the keepers come from big families that unite often. My advice as a Marine and a man is get some pussy as you should but keep the real goal in mind. Find the woman with a good tribe to raise your kids with.
