i've been going for 4 months to the gym, always doing PPLPPLx, yesterday i met this big dude and we trained back and bis together, i showed him my routine and we did it, but he got me doing a lot more exercises, like 4 for biceps for example, he told me the reason "i don't grow or progress too much" is because i keep doing the same every week, although i progress little by little on weight or reps, i got to push myself to the limit to make muscles grow. is he right or he's just a moronic gymbro? i kinda follow the cientific stuff of not going past 20-ish sets per week, but this dude got me doing 16 sets of biceps in a day, it felt like too much to be honest

see that's why i don't know who to trust really, some people got me doing "scientific based training" and some other like to do it the caveman way 1,000,000 sets per session. i felt burnt out at the 4th exercise of biceps, couldn't even do 6 reps whitout failing.
Also, maybe he isn't moronic, he told me he took winstrol when he was younger, now he's 27 and just started training again, he's your typical 250lb macho immigrant
Ultimately fitness is really confusing and at the end of the day experience will tell you what will work for you. Maybe your gym bro friend’s crazy biceps workout will give you massive biceps. Maybe it will frick your shit up. Slow progressive overload on compound lifts over years will 100% guaranteed make you bigger. But maybe your back will become a lot bigger and your biceps will only slightly increase in size. So you would need to add some extra volume work if you really want big arms. Personally I never saw a 6-pack until I started training abs 6 times a week, whereas the internet led me to believe squats and deads was enough. Some dudes get massive ripped arms and abs from just the compounds.
Find out and learn what works for you. That’s provably the best advice I could give you

You dont have to keep changing it, this is beginner level knowledge on programming. You just need to introduce more rest days disguised as light day or something else. Start reading up on how to program a routine based on your fitness goals before you decide to start listening to randos

Its true as a beginner. But if you try to sustain it in intermediate stages and try to add more, you will start going back to beginner stage
You should progress on your main compound lift by adding weights and keep changing your accessory lifts once every month or so
