running or jogging really melts it off so i would run but i know you didn't say "or run every day" but I would jog every day and then walk and then jog and then walk until you can jog an hour
Do the walk daily for mental health. Throw in some light jogging after twenty of walking and just take it easy. Maybe after a few weeks you will be jogging 10 minutes every day.
Depends how well you respond to running.
I would say you should shoot for 6000-10,000 steps a day. Maybe run it some days walk it others. I personally just alternate forms of cardio rower (25 minutes), running (20), walking (90), repeat. Averages out to about 105 minutes a week of quality cardio and some active recovery. Then I got skateboarding to work and walking places on top of that. Variety is nice and mediates the tedium that usually leads to me falling out of habits as much.
yeah that's decent about 7k more and you're at Okinawan farmer levels before they modernized very good for longevity
Thanks guys 😀 I fucking love walking, and my calves, tendons, and joints are all nuts because of it. I used to have bad knees and ankles, then became a fat fuck and it obviously got worse, running half a km was a joke, 1km might as well be impossible. Now I can run fasted half marathons at a 6"/km pace (last one was 5'59")
>it's not cardio
anything that raises your heart rate is a form of cardiovascular exercise. the benefits you receive walking daily are worth it when compared to a sedentary lifestyle or even someone who only lifts. heart health is very important, not to mention side benefits of walking like running into people in your community, making friends and socializing is healthy for our brain function and as a result our body chemistry. I know it wasn't your intention to demoralize cardio workouts anon but anything is better than nothing and walking is just fine.
it's 'active recovery' which I know gets bandied about by a bunch of meme dipshits but I feel like it works at least for my knees and shins. It's time outside away from the computers so even if it's 400-500 kcal time sink I think it's worth it.

you're not getting any younger. don't waste time

Turning walking into a regimine is so fucking dumb. It's walking. "Gotta get my 10k steps!" Just walk if you feel like it; it's not cardio.
LISS cardio is cardio and all competing bodybuilders swear by it
