Should women have their own gym separate from the mixed section? Women face a lot of sexual harrassment at the gym.

define "sexual harassment" that a woman might encounter at the gym.

      >girl ur packing a huge cake
      >constant staring
In general just indecent remarks about their bodies or gender.

i've never been to a gym where an individual making remarks like this wasn't warned by the gym in an effort to curb the behavior. the warnings escalate to more if they insist upon acting that way.

        >staring
i really don't know what to tell you. people will look at other people.

        >Being stared at
        >being followed between exercises
        >being recorded
        >being touched “accidentally”
        >being asked out despite having headphones on
        >having creeps “compliment” you on your physique
I can go on for days, scrote

        >being followed
sounds like paranoia. even if it's a deliberate act, what are you suggesting? the gym should have cameras tracking the movements of all gym goers? if they have to perform an exercise but their female proximity cooldown hasn't elapsed then they have to wait? it's a shared space and typically there are a lot more men than women in these spaces. you're going to have people around you from time to time.

        >being recorded
if reported to staff then that person gets kicked out. that's how you handle that situation. if your solution to the common, everyday problems of the world is to try to create environments where those problems cannot happen vs utilizing the well understood, already existing solutions then we should thank the stars you have zero say in how the world operates.

        >unwanted physical contact
this may surprise you but there doesn't exist a commercial gym that is staffed and/or managed by people that are okay with this happening. if this occurs at a gym then that person would be penalized. how would a place possibly prevent this sort of situation from occurring?

        >asked out
        >compliments
a person striking up a conversation with you isn't harassment. you're not the main character of a movie, this is a shared existence. the solution to this situation is well understood: decline the conversation/turn them down, move on. if they continue then their persistence is a different behavior and obviously problematic.

        ywnbaw btw

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt OP. But my answer is, women only gyms exist (men only ones do too but they go out of business very rapidly) but for the most part "women facing a lot of sexual harrassment at the gym" is a meme

              Anonymous

That's what I tried to tell to the woman I was talking to, male-only gyms go bankrupt really quickly because male-only gyms are seen as sexist and no man wants to be labeled as one, regardless if they have been sexually harrassed or not.

She said "Well start your own gym" like I had the money to do that or the skillset to run a company. Its literal corporations pandering to the female community to make them feel better and promote their gym, they didn't pay for shit lol.

Not even sexist, most normal men enjoy the eye candy and the rest set up home gyms and invite their boys over. But yes, women spend more, so it's more profitable to pander to them.

different anon. Men are less likely to be overpowered by women in the first place and virtually all you have to worry about in terms of physical danger is other men. It's not the same thing you fricking cro magnon

Locking eyes by coincidence -- goodness forbid if it happens twice, being in general vicinity, her thinking you looked at her, her thinking you looked at someone else, any sort of greeting be it a head bod or hello, accidentally wearing something with a dick outline, etc , etc. -- it's up to the women and can be based on nothing

Wearing a bra and buttcrack shorts to do lunges in the free weight area or hip thrusts on the benches or doing good mornings again in the free weight area or some cornball ass leg kick back on the cables is not trying to be comfortable, you’re literally seeking attention.

They would never use it for the same reason female only gyms fail. Not being in public and mixed in with men is leaving money on the table. It's free advertising and lets them attempt to thirst bait men with plausible deniability.

When they complain about sexual harassment some of it is legitimate as there are plenty of gym creeps but a lot of it is because they don't like the guys who are approaching them. If there was a gym that was exclusively for rich, attractive men and any kind of women and another gym which was free and available to anyone women would pay through the nose to go to the first gym so they could dress like prostitutes for the men they want attention from.

There should absolutely be male only gyms though but women screech about it for the reasons above. Male only gyms mean they have less access to the men they want.

yes. women at the gym are a distraction. socialize elsewhere. single-sex gyms should exist

I think it is important to have plenty of all-male and all-female spaces and this is a really good example of a human society relearning old lessons in new contexts.

What do you mean women get sexually harassed? I GET SEXUALLY HARASSED BY THEM! God damn, and they need to put MORE FRICKING CLOTHES on. These b***hes go to a Young Men’s CHRISTIAN Association (YMCA), dressed like they’re going to work at a strip club. THERE ARE FRICKING KIDS IN YMCAs. GET prostituteS OUT OF ALL GYMS. Except powerlifting gyms, they can do powerlifting, if they don’t wear bikinis to the gym.

yes. and the DYELs can join them. I don't want some phaggot benching 30kg taking up a bench in my gym and I don't go to the gym to look at femoids
