Eat at a clean diet at maintenance you dumb frick.
Also bulking is a meme, you don't need thst much of a surplus to gain muscle anyway.

Based Gutsanon. But your physique on the right is right after a workout, isn't it? Do you have any pics of you then without a pump? Would give a fairer outlook to newbie anons on what to expect after 6 months of proper dieting and lifting.

Aye you're right man, this is the only pic I could find without a pump. Sadly the lighting is extremely favorable so the perception is still skewed. Nevertheless, the only impressive part about my physique at the time were my abs and leanness. So my advice to skinnyfats is to not be afraid to cut, better be small but lean and defined than small and flabby.

Not too hard, but make sure to cut out calorie bombs like fast food, candy and soda. Space out your meals consisting of clean foods like cheese, eggs, milk, chicken etc. Small portions, enough to keep you satiated, not full. If you don't need it don't eat it. That and eyeball it until you have visible abs. Training abs never hurts either, back then I did 100 situps every day, even though they are not that great of an exercise

                >Small portions, enough to keep you satiated, not full
You mean like many small or replacing the normal ones with smaller ones? I was thinking about doing some intermediate fasting or something. Like eating lunch and dinner, perhaps something in the evening. Like 12-8 eating window.

                Anonymous

I mean small(er) portions of nutrient dense foods, spaced evenly so you don't feel hungry throughout the day. A breakfast (milk keeps you very satiated), lunch (which was the biggest meal of the day for me), some fruits in the afternoon and a meal before bed. I used to eat 4 meals a day at that stage

Skinnyfat bulkers will add too much fat in relation to muscle. You need a slight increase in calories, primarily consisting of proteins and fats, and to cut the junk sugar carbs, then throw in some hard resistance exercises.

You can maintain your bit of skinnyfat as your muscles increase, or even lose some of the fat while muscle increases.

The skinnyfat lifter tends to add over 500 calories daily to their diet, and even if their arms etc. grow, so does their gut and they maintain the skinnyfat look.

Skinnyfat is a misnomer. They're really just fatties.
And just like all fatties, they have a troublesome relationships with food.

      Anonymous

It's not just that, skinnyfats tend to have fricked up fat distribution and NO muscle mass from completely sedentary lifestyles. They don't eat a lot, most of them live on one meal of fast food or microwave food a day, with some beers, energy drinks or chips thrown in as well. Their problem is their lifestyle first and foremost. Because they get no exercise their body metabolises the nutritionally garbage food into fat, so they end up with skinny twigs arms and a pot belly.

newbie gains come so easy that you will get them no matter the diet almost, you don't need to eat over 2k calories to get your non existent biceps and chest starting to poke out
What i did was cut all junk food cold turkey, and started eating only home cooked meals and lifting like an inexperienced moron, after about two years this is the result,
mind you both my diet and training where the bare minimum of effort, so when you are just starting losing fat and gaining muscle really does work, just don't be impatient and start
cutting into malnutrition level calories, you can do it but it wont happen in a few months, if you try to force it you most likely will end up a skelleton.

I'm in the same boat as anon. I was at the fatter edge of skinnyfat at the end of 2020 from being a lazy frick and eating too much crap during COVID. I started eating healthy over the last 18 months. I'm still a manlet but at least my body fat % is down.

Yeah Im very irregular with the gym. Want to be more consistent this year. There are guys my height and around same weight I see on reddit that have very defined muscles. I look like a literal twig with a belly.

This is the thing that makes me seethe more about being skinnyfat, I don't even give a frick about my belly, it just seems like most of my fat goes to my face and chin.
At the same time, I don't want to cut because I'll probably lose a lot of muscle. I'll probably start roiding this year. There's not much that can be done.
