Sleeping on the floor

I'm think of sleeping on the floor using a massage mat like pic related. My floor is carpet. Any experience sleeping on the floor, and if so, what was beneficial about it for you? Also, alternatives to massage mats are welcome. Lastly, pillow or no pillow and why?

i tried it for some time in college, i did it because i sleeped too much and couldnt get out of bed in the morning... it was good when i did shorter sleep - 8 hours max but if i ever didnt get out of bed and slept 12 hours i felt rly bad... i used tatami, i dont like the mat you posted, might as well sleep on ground with some blanket under you

One year doing it. Dont regret.

Just lift the padding because moisture can acumulate under it

Does magic to your lower back

Slept on the floor for years, pic related, normal matress, pillow.

The main draw is not sleeping on an elevated bed but close to the ground, it gives you a funny feeling, how we slept most of your days thousands of years ago. Most important thing is ventilation when using a mattress. NEVER EVER put the mattress on the ground, you need ventilation so you dont get mold or bugs.

No pillow. It fricks your neck up if you sleep on your back. If you sleep on your side it is fine.
Do not sleep on carpet without insulation, your body heat/moisture will damage it over time.
Your posture will become so erect that when you think you are slouching, people will still complement your posture.
I enjoy not having my bed take up so much space in my room. I do not have sex so bringing people over has never been an issue. Just frick on a couch or something.
I just use a single blanket folded in half to sleep on then use 1 or 2 others to lay on top of myself.

I sleep on a sleeping bag on the floor, pretty good. I like it because there's no feedback from the bed moving

Tried it on carpet with just a thin blanket under me and it was the worst idea I ever had. The plan was to sleep on my back but of course I shifted to my side like I always do and ended up with terrible sores on each side of my hip. Tried it for about a week and said frick this and got back into bed.

Just get a good, supportive mattress instead of sleeping on the ground like a fricking hobo.

Hey. I got into it after being in Japan for a while. Kept it up for a year or two after.
    Here is my experience.

    Main drawbacks:
-You can't store shit under your bed
-You need to air out your mattress more often
-Your girlfriend will not be happy about it
-If your bed is quite hard, you might be too uncomfortable to recline on there for many hours, watch a movie etc.
-It didn't help with posture, joint pain etc.
    -It didn't make me "tougher"

    Advantages:
-You can walk across your bedroom easily
-It's easier to wrestle and roll around on your bed
-If you have a foldy bed, you can fold it and have more room for activities.
-You'll spend less time in bed, in case that's something that you do too much of.
Your experience may be different to mine, so give it a go and see how you feel.

I imagine it depends alot on how old you are. Kind of like how could sit in one of those plastic/wooden school chairs for hours on end as a kid and not get sore, but it'd wreck your shit if your over 30.

the harder and straighter the better
never tried this, so i can't tell, looks like pointless gimmick shit
NO PILLOW, in fact no pillow is even more important than no mattress
it is horrible for your posture, you're put in very unnatural position
    no mattress, no pillow
your back is going to thank you greatly once you're early 40s
