You need carbs and fat to make the testosterone to properly synthesize your protein

    Your diet should be
0.8g of protein for every pound of LEAN mass you have (weight minus approximate fat weight)
2-3x that for carbs and the rest of your calories from fat

No sugar, no alcohol, no protein powder garbage

Carbs reduce athletic performance because they cause glycogen to be depleted faster by blocking fatty acid metabolism.

Your body cant burn fat the way it burns carbs. Your body burns fat best for Zone 2 cardio. It used glycogen for muscle movement. You need to use both fuel sources for effective workouts, lest your body cannabilize muscles for fuel because it’s easier for it to burn muscle than it is fat. Glycogin is a padding for your muscles not to be consumed during the workout.

When you eat carbs it raises insulin, which blocks fat burning.

If you eat carbs before exercise your body is running on 100% glycogen which causes rapid glycogen depletion. Then you burn muscle which causes lower muscle mass. Pic related.

When you are in ketosis most of your cells can use fatty acids. This is glycogen sparing. Your glycogen depletes slower so you can workout harder and you don't lose muscle.

            >When you eat carbs it raises insulin, which blocks fat burning.
That's a gross and inaccurate simplification. If you want to lecture on complex topics like this then you need to do a little more research than watching youtube videos. Your body does prefer to burn a single type of energy source at a time but this is only a problem if you eat a meal containing lots of fat and carbs. If you keep them relatively separate, this will never be an issue, and this is also an issue that generally only exists in the context of unsaturated fats.

            >When you eat carbs it raises insulin, which blocks fat burning.

Your body needs insulin to shove protein and carbs into the muscles. You’re conflating the issue of a short term insulin spike with day-long a fat burning strategy.

            >If you eat carbs before exercise your body is running on 100% glycogen which causes rapid glycogen depletion. Then you burn muscle which causes lower muscle mass.

Yeah no shit, that’s what I said. That’s why it’s important to eat carbs before a work out. Burning fat takes all day long, and requires a different approach than “dude just burn fat at the gym instead!” Again, your body cant metabolize stored fat for resistance training. Fat is energy for your heart, glycogen is energy for your muscles.

Carbs are good for you as long as theyre not coming from processed sugar. You should eat whole grain oats/rice, and some whole fruits. Most Americans have a pitiful amount of fiber in their diets, and I see people on here all the time talking about how their stomach is rekt from their high protein diet. Fiber helps your stomach big time, and these foods with good carbs usually are a great source of fiber. Just make sure carbs are not dominating your diet, you still need to eat a ton of protein, but you should fit some healthy carbs into your calories for the day as well

Humans are directly descended from frugivorous apes and your diet should reflect that. Not only are fruits some of the healthiest foods on the planet, they're also the ONLY food created with the express intent that it be eaten. Past that, prior to the Neolithic revolution (agriculture and animal husbandry) the human diet was basically just fruit, honey, meat. From a health standpoint, there's no reason to ever eat anything outside these categories.

Your diet should be primarily (60-70% of caloric intake) SIMPLE carbohydrates, aka sugars, from fruit and honey. The remainder should be animal foods, ideally nutrient rich sources like organ meats and eggs, and that's it. People get confused because COMPLEX carbohydrates (aka starches: grains, tubers, etc) are poison and will absolutely frick you up, and any carbs will eventually frick you up if combined with seed oils (see: glucose fatty-acid cycle).

Humans are apex predators which evolved eating meat for over 2 million years.

Agriculture caused human brains and height to shrink.

        Anonymous

Ah yes, an unsourced cartoon. Good job anon, a stunning counter-argument. I'll give you two points to consider: one, the "humans are carnivores who ate nothing but mammoths" is silly and absurd and as an adult, you should know better. Two, literally any theory on how and why we developed such large brains is just that - purely theoretical. Cooked meat is one of the theories, but cooked tubers is another, and there are plenty of theories that don't rely on dietary explanations at all.

You are correct that agriculture has had a host of negative effects on human health, but if you had managed to maintain focus long enough to read my entire post (it's hard when your programming gets triggered so hard, i know) then you would have noticed that I both recommend eating meat:
        >ideally nutrient rich sources like organ meats and eggs
and say that the ideal human diet is that which existed prior to the advent of agriculture:
        >COMPLEX carbohydrates (aka starches: grains, tubers, etc) are poison

Past that, you've just been sold a bunch of lies regarding what pre-Neolithic humans actually ate. Basing your diet around what humans naturally eat is a wonderful idea but it does require that you have an accurate understanding of the pre-Neolithic diet. There is a truly massive amount of pure fantasy surrounding this topic (see: your pic) and if you actually want a healthy, natural diet, you're going to have to do a lot more research and learn to separate fact from fiction.

        >The diets of Hominids (Pan, Gorilla, and Pongo) are dominated by plant foods.
Being a frugivore does not mean that you eat nothing but fruit. It means that your diet is primarily fruit. If you get 60% of your calories from fruit, you are a frugivore, even if the remaining 40% is meat.

Stable isotope analysis makes this a settled issue. Human ancestors were hypercarnivorous.

            Anonymous

Not even remotely true. You can post proof if you want but you won't because you don't have any.

Besides, you don't need "stable isotope analysis" to disprove this; you just need common sense. Are any primates hypercarnivores? Does the human digestive system appear similar to those of carnivores? Teeth? Stomach acid strength? Intestinal length? We don't even have claws. Absolutely nothing about the human body, observed objectively, would make you think that we were anything other than what all other primates are.

What animals, exactly, do you imagine a naked human would be capable of predating? We didn't spring forth equipped with knowledge of toolmaking. I understand that a lot of guys have this weird ego trip where they have to imagine humans as being hypermasculine apex predators who dominated the natural world with their bare hands but this is pure fantasy no matter how many paleo blogs you read. Fantasy is fine if you just enjoy daydreaming but not so great if you're trying to base your diet around it.

Carbs contain energy and it’s very easy to eat a lot of them because it can be very tasty. Also if you avoid carbs while cutting, your body will be more inclined to burn stored fat for energy instead of signalling hunger to get more food.
