So my gym owner likes dogs and many guys bring their dog to the gym so the gym is full of dogs. Mainly pitbulls and american bullys. They are friendly I think and don't do really bother but I still get freaked out around them. The dogs are mostly ordered by their owners to stay in one place but some follow their owners around and other special dogs seems to have a right to free roam around everywhere.
Does this happen anywhere else? Where there's basically 5 dogs around at most hours?

I like dogs but am forced to agree, people treat them like fashion objects and most dogs turn out badly. Dogs aren't how they used to be. I really haven't met a dog I liked the past decade. They're being raised by people who work and use their dogs for social points. They won't sit, or fetch, of give you their paw like they did when I was a kid. Every dog I knew then I said give me your paw. They always would. Everyone looks at me like I am insane asking for a dog's paw in 2023. If you can't raise them right, then they're better off not existing.

A few years ago there was a guy who would bring a very small dog into the gym and it would just sit next to him at all times and was really well behaved. Not sure why he stopped coming, but I miss that dog, it gave the gym character.

I have a degree in microbiology and work as a tech. Urinalysis is a major part of my job and I have seen a lot of semen in male and female samples not to mention just semen in general. Human sperm and dog sperm look identical unless you are using very specific stains to id which is which. I never knew why people brought dogs to the gym. They could get some heavy weights or equipment dropped at them. And if it's a pitbull, it's obviously an unpredictable and aggressive breed which is a concern for the safety of everyone in the gym.

This is true. Had a pitty as a kid, he lived a long 14 years without ever biting anyone even though he was around a lot of strangers. Only had a few problems with other dogs too, a couple times big male dogs would come into our yard and a scrap would begin, but he always broke it off when we grabbed his collar.
Same deal for American bullies, had many and they've all been very passive and relaxed dogs.

Of course training probably plays a part, but there's also tons of dogs who've been trained "well" and whose blood heritage just kicks in one day. With the amount of shenanigans shelters and rescues pull, there's basically no way of knowing if your dog comes from fighting stock that might kick in some day (probably around the age of social maturity, around 2-3) or if you got lucky and got a dog that's gonna be manageable for the duration of their life.
It's the unpredictability that's the biggest problem, as well as people being unwilling to pull behavioural euthanasia when the dog proves to be unwieldy and dangerous because "they deserve endless new chances"
Pitbulls aren't bred to fight people. They are bred to fight other dogs. They should also immediately stop fighting as soon as they get touched by their owner.
When they were used as fighting dogs, the ones who would turn and bite their owners during a fight were immediately put down. Same for the ones that wouldn't stop fighting the other dog.

One of those dogs could get scared, freak out and rip off part of your calf, or one of them might wander around and hit you with their tail, causing you to drop a weight that cripples or kills it, and the dumb butthole who brought his dog to the gym will act like it's your fault.
