    There's more differences
For instance strength guys are strong, hypertrophy guys are not
And hypertrophy guys are literal homosexuals who literally take wieners up their ass, whereas strength guys are straight pussy slayers

Serious though, is there any difference in me doing 6-8 vs 8-12?

              Anonymous

I do 6-8 for heavy squats, deadlifts, BP, etc

                Anonymous

OK, but the meme has been forever that 6-8 is "strength" while 8-12 is "muscles" so Is there any actual visual difference or is it all some academics found .0044lbs difference in 6 test subjects?

                Anonymous

The key word in my previous comment is "heavy"

Meaning that I put enough weight on the barbell that I reach failure in 6-8 reps

                Anonymous

Again though, what's the point? I can definitely do more total volume in the 8-12 range, so why should I Continue wasting time in the 6-8 range on bench if it's not going to change my looks?

I'm currently in a break where I'm recovering a pulled RecFem and also out of town for two weeks so when I get back I'm planning on changing my lifts, so is it even worth it to keep doing 6-8 on bench, squat and OHP when I get back?

Basically, your lactic acids dump around this range, so the essential amino acids that build muscle can not transfer the protein to your muscle in this range

Thanks, so when I get back roll straight 8-12 then right? With emphasis on 10? I don't give two shits about my strength, I'm here to look good.

That doesn't make much sense. Whether you go lactic or not depends more on how fast you work and how heavy the weights are.

And "just for strength" has always been 3x5 or 5x5 and in this case you don't do more reps, even if you can

8 reps is in the middle of all that "strength vs hypertrophy"

Is what I chose to do because I like to lift heavy and go to failure

Low-key saying that strength is a manlet trait.

  7. 1 year ago

Nobody gives a frick about strength any more other than the individual, and you have to get fat and unaesthetic to get strong enough to where people might care a bit. The physique in op picrel is a long-time powerlifter that has cut and would be extremely weak compared to bulked 1RMs.
There was an image that used to circulate of a powerlifter that got injured and decided to cut during his recovery and looked like picrel. You essentially have to go hypertrophy mode if you want to look like strength guy, so that pic is just bullshit and whoever made it deserves gas.
You can't maintain super-strength without taking diet very seriously or just going overboard and dirty-bulking, and none of the blue/white collar powerlifters really get anything from their egomaniacal hobby - only athletes and beginners benefit from strength training... it's not a long term option for your average Joe.
On the other hand, everyone (especially women) does care whether you look good and put effort into looking good. First impressions are important, and saying how much you squat isn't exactly a first impression unless you open with the declaration.
Your lifts don't matter so much as the journey and what you get out of it,... and you certainly get a lot of out rocking low BF w/ lean face and good physique.
What I'm getting at is: to focus on strength and never consider hypertrophy is effectively masturbation, even though it would seem the other way around.

also, streangth + endurance is more beneficial to most of life then merely immediate streangth which is what streangth training gets you.

you do streangth training and you can lift a frick ton of weight like 1-5 times (yes i'm generalizing and simplifying frick off).

you do hypertrophy and you get decently streangth and can sustain that out put. thats gonna be more useful for manual labour, most survival situations, war, fighting, what ever.

oh shit you can lift a car like one time? cool, when is that ever going to apply in life?

hypertrophy even more directly applies to the act of fricking it self, are you gonna pump into her one time really hard hard enough to hurt her and then cum? or do you want to wail on her for like twenty minutes without gassing and thrash her to within an inch of her life?

that being said i don't think streangth training is bad, people should obviously do both. but i'm just saying that like, its not even like the aesthetics are desired for no reason, theres like an evolutionary biology reason for it.

        >you do hypertrophy and you get decently streangth and can sustain that out put. thats gonna be more useful for manual labour, most survival situations, war, fighting, what ever.
You do hypertrophy and you get extra mass that is more useless than even fat.

          nutefag

i mean, its not a binary choice. its not liek you are only doing hypertrophy or only doing streangth, you can increase the amount of weight that you are doing high reps of over time. and higher reps means more endurance for streangth out put.

Bodybuilders are slightly smaller, weaker, and leaner than strongmen because they eat less in order to look shredded.

Strongmen don’t care about looks, so they eat more in order to become as big as possible.
