Same bro. Once fatigue accumulates over weeks, I get scared of weights. The level of fear I have is usually a good indicator of when it's time for me to take a break/deload. Afterwards I feel normal again and the fear doesn't appear until 4-8 weeks usually.

fear means you're making central nervous system gains, your body is pumping you with adrenaline to do the task at hand.

If you fear the barbell, you lifts will suck.
I just try to feel focused and aggressive before I do a set.
Now, if you're trying to lift your 1 rep max for 3 sets of 5, then this won't work.

    rate starts to rise
I have this whenever I think about lifting lmao. Even when on a run my heartrate goes up fantasizing about lifting.

Do you not have safeties on the bench? Even if you do fail you should be ok if those are placed properly

Because it's hard and failing a squat sucks ass
If you're never nervous of failing before a big & heavy lift you're probably not pushing yourself hard enough

listen to concept albums in the gym and try to get lost in the music so you don't overthink the lift.
