yeah do hangcleans instead lmao. this video is the ultimate proof that you can be extremely strong but still have a low iq and dunning kruger making what you say worthless.

      >hangcleans
Does this moron actually recommend hangcleans instead of deadlifts?

he siad that foodball athletes rarely do deadlifts but do a lot of hang and power cleans which is correct
just like his assertion that deadlifts are overrated. they have terrible stimulus to fatigue ratio.

Yeah but football players still have really good deadlifts so oberst is still off

I find stiff-leg no-contact deadlifts to be a good balance of intensity and volume. They really isolate your hamstrings and spinal erector and is generally safer to do since the high hip position helps to prevent lower back rounding.

this tbqh, renaissance periodization-style rdls are the best variant you can possibly do. straight deadlifts with heavy weights done outside of compeition are a circus trick for gorilla armed lanklets to feel better about their poverty bench

He's smart but he's almost certainly never had to think too deeply about anything related to his size or strength. He's a freak of nature and almost nothing that applies to him applies to normal men.

If you don't put deadlifts in your programming often enough to keep it progressed evenly then you don't have spinal erectors and your physique is incomplete.

squats and rows work fine for that.

If you're talking lowbar squats and barbell rows, sure. But spinal erectors don't really have rom so much as they just have to flex really hard to stand between you and injury, so it's best to progress the most heavily loadable lift for them.

highbar works just as well too, bit more upper spine bit less lower spine. and front squat is brutal on upper spine.
nobody who can squat 4pl8 has weak spinal erectors, even if they never deadlift.

My 2.5 year old daughter can deadlift a water bottle pack that weighs 9kg at 14kg bodyweight. It's more of a rack pull at her height and it's not even her bodyweight but she pulls conventional and can do a few reps. I think she's gonna make it.

Deadlifts and progressing them makes me feel powerful though so I will not stop. Especially when I do deadhangs, farmers walks and barbell holds every training session to overcome my pathetic wrists and natural grip strength so I can continue improving.

I like dead lifting light weights. Do like 15 reps. Idk max i did was like 75 pounds. I enjoy it more as a supplement exercise. People say i should do more but who cares

The sad thing about Ronnie is that, if you have experience with back injuries, you just know that he'll never properly recover. It's pretty pathetic how fragile human spines are, yet they can't regenerate like the rest of our bodies.

Deadlifts help me work the muscles to stay 'rooted' to the ground during wrestling with buddies.

As my deadlift gets stronger/weaker, I'm noticing a 1:1 ratio to my ability to push others and resist being pushed. I see it when I'm working the heavybag. Most of my fighting strategy relies on moving/grounding my opponent, so deadlifts do help me.

It’s so easy to get people riled up since no one actually bothers to watch the video and instead just froth at a screencap. He has no problem with deadlifts or people doing them. But if your fitness goals are not just about increasing your numbers, there are better lifts, such as hang and power cleans, that work on functional strength for things like football or in his case, strongman competitions.
