    1/2/3/4 makes 0 sense

    I got 1/2 in like 12 weeks, but then spent 3 years getting 3/4

    Meanwhile my cousin got 3/4 in 12 weeks, but 10 years later still cant do 1/2.

      Even if he’s coping the OP is correct in that it’s not the same for everyone. Those numbers are meant to be a good goal to shoot for that most should be capable of hitting within 2 years. Everyone’s body is different (proportions + fitness backgrounds could make one a shit bencher but a great deadlifted for example)

      I started with the bar I was so weak at first, in 1.5 years I had 2/3/4 X5. I grew obsessed with strength like a homosexual I had never once trained certain muscles directly like core biceps shoulders and figured I would try OHP. First day doing OHP I was telling 1pl8 despite never having trained it. I’m sure bench+ Chest accessories I was doing just had insane carry over for me. But I’ve yet to meet anyone with a similar story of starting at the bar X10. Everyone I’ve met is similar to you and your boyfriend, they may have a 6pl8 deadlift but they can’t bench 225. Most competing powerlifters I’ve met typically put a big focus on just one lift while barely training the others

      yes... that's the point? standards like these shouldn't be biased towards a specific body type. imo the perfect strength metric should also account for bodyweight relative strength with something like pull ups.

    calisthenics are just as arbitrary as plate numbers since everyone is different weights and heights. you can lift and do swimming or sprinting or whatever gay exercise you want OP. get the wiener out of your mouth and just hit the gym once in a while. lifting isn't going to kill you

        There's no way he "trains legs like a bodybuilder". He trains his legs for speed, not hypertrophy, and it shows.

        The lifting regiments are more similar to oly lifters, football players, or even cross fitters. None of that slow, big weights shit.

        The point is sprinters train their legs hard with heavy weights, not with calisthenics or "functional" exercise whatever OP was trying to cope with. Rep ranges and movements (front squat vs squat vs leg press etc) aside, they're strength training. Every sprinter can bang out 3pl8 squats with ease.
