Competitive swimming from childhood and throughout my teenage years massively helped my asthma. I don't think I'd be nearly as healthy and active as I am now if not for swimming. Definitely getting my kid into it, especially if he or she has asthma.

Had a friend in highschool that also had asthma and swam. I think it helped him as he stopped using his inhaler

I used to spend hours snorkelling in the sea as a kid. Good times.

I accidentally slapped a girl on the bum when freestyling in a swimming pool. Nice texture tbh, soft but springy. Was an Asian female in a one piece swimsuit. She didn't think it was a mistake but was too meek to kick up a fuss.

Best way to learn to swim as a 23yr old?

Learn to float first. Once you get comfy with floating on your back you don't freak out as easily in deep water. You will know that you can just assume a position and pop up to the surface.
Learn the Side Stroke or combat side stroke because its easy and has a guaranteed breath in it. It also teaches you streamlining and breathing for the freestyle stroke.
Next learn breaststroke because the kick you learn in it can be used to tread water. Also has a guaranteed breath in it.
Finally learn freestyle and treading using what you've learned above.
All of this can be found on youtube, but if you have a community pool nearby you should see if they have adult classes. I went to an adult class just to get introduced to the pool and community center/website and they just let me use a lane to myself the entire time. Got a few tips from the more experienced lifeguards there as well.

I've though about doing cardio and I hate running. Is swimming good for that? Also though it might hit some muscles I don't train at the gym

Swimming is the superb cadio imo. No excessive forces on your knees etc. Especially fatties choose swimming because it is the leas harmful cadio exercise next to cycling
      >ottermode can be accieved by swimming and propper diet

Not fat, I have always been thin and I'm still tryin to reach my goal weight of 80 kg (176 pounds). I'm only 67 kg (148 pounds) but gaining somewhat fast, so I didn't want to do cardio due to it burning too many calories. Is swimming once a week enough?
