you need to get the milk first, if you dont have cows youre gonna pay either way

        Anonymous

Correct, and getting my own cows is part of the future plan. But each of those jars represents the whey yield, and the container is the yogurt yield of a half gallon (2L) of milk. When I make the 4th batch next week (3rd whey jar not included in pic), I'll dehydrate the yield and pulverize it into whey powder. Throw in some vanilla extract and unsweetened cocoa powder and it's golden.
        >4 half gallons @ $2.50
        >each half gallon yields 2.75lb (1.25kg) of yogurt)
        >each half gallon yields ~500g of liquid whey
        >assuming 80% water content, 4 batches yields ~400g of powder
For $10 and a few overnight fermentation hours, you make 5kg of yogurt and ~15 scoops of whey powder. Considering yogurt is like $8/kg here, the relatively low yield of whey is almost an afterthought.

          80% water content
as far as i remember it's way more water content than that

          >you make 5kg of yogurt
          definitely not inconsiderable

            Anonymous

Fair, I haven't done a proper dehydration yet. I'll refigure the numbers once it's done. But still, the whey output is a fringe benefit. I don't consume whey anyway, but since I'll have it on hand, I might as well use it when ready.

Half gallon yields 1.25kg. Do it 4 times as I stated.

It doesn’t have any slight milk aftertaste though? I just found out about clear whey cause they sell these juice drinks at my gym but you can slightly taste a little milky taste. It’s not a huge deal but if they can eliminate that shit then it’s perfect.
