Is there any proof to this? I sleep for eight or more hours pretty much every night, but I stay up for like 18 so it’s never a consistent schedule.

Melatonin is a good way to "force" a sleep schedule in a healthy way
low dose thc/cbd also can help
but these are things you should use to only set the schedule not sleep and not outside of that

Yes your sleep schedule has to be consistent even if you get 8 hours every night.
Your body will freak the frick out and try to kill itself if you don't sleep at the same time every day. You'll never enter deep sleep without a consistent schedule.

You know what, have a nice day. I deeply hate people like you that spread blatant lies you made up.

I have a near-maximally inconsistent sleep schedule. Like another anon before, I run on 18+h awake. Additionally, sometimes I abuse stimulants.
You know what happens when I lie down? I fricking enter REM sleep immediately. I literally start dreaming within 1 minute of falling asleep.

If you don't force a schedule on your body, the body will eagerly force the issue of enough REM by itself.

this is almost 100% the routine i have had the past few years, absolute hell. the last 3 days i've been taking some melatonin to finally nuke this issue and its been working. got prescribed a bunch of sleep meds but frick that. you need to bruteforce your body into sleeping a good schedule again, i think you sleep light because the body knows something is wrong and wants to wake you up to fix it, probably high cortisol or something else out of balance like that. once you get a routine going it will improve.

this system works well for me other than the random crash I get in the afternoon. If I need a massive boost of energy or to stay up all night for an emergency, I can skip both gym and running on the same day. That will make my energy level through the roof but harder to sleep on time if I do that. Other wise it's stable and consistent.

she. she is also disabled and has been in like three car accidents due to drinking and driving and somehow got a new car each time and IS STILL ALLOWED TO DRIVE. the last woman who lived there was mentally ill and tried to drown herself and then OD on pills, so even this current c**t leaves some other wwalkign nigthmare is just going to take her place and it doesnt solve the issue of the windows or the thin walls or the laundry flooding or the floors creaking or the repairman replacing the bathroom door, which had a broken lock, with a door that had no lock. awesome, really needed that. oh and because of the no window conundrum, my room is developing a weird smell that's probably sticking to me and my clothes so i probably smell weird when i go out. and the shower is like too close to the sink and the fridge is too close to the oven/stove so you constantly bump into it and have to shimmy out of the kitchen jesus christ if i find the old homosexual who built this house i will actually kill him. the shower head is way too low too because he was probably a short little homosexualy old man so i have to hunch down to wash my hair and im not even that tall, im like 5 11? really awesome house. pipes are fricked too so everything just floods when it gets too hot. not a plumber so i dont know the specifics of it and the property manager just refuses to send people here sometimes so it takes forever to get fixed. front door has a latch with a knob on the inside and handle on the outside that automatically locks when you close it, so if you accidentally leave without your keys or phone you have to crawl through the kitchen window you thankfully left open like a complete spastic and triple check you have your keys so you dont lock yourself out. cant just have a door that you cant close and then lock from the outside. no id really prefer a door with a vertical handle and a latch which also serves as a knob. now that is ideal for a door. well thought out design for a home

      uninterupted sleep is a meme
even if you don't remember it, you wake up very frequenly to move around and roll over, you would have horrible aches and muscle cramps every morning if you didn't. What will probably frick you up is getting out of bed for an extended period then going back to sleep.

        Anonymous

I think it's pretty okay to get up for a period in the middle of the night. As long as you're not being worken up mid way through a deep sleep phase and are waking up naturally, to take a piss or whatever, while in the lightest sleep phase, it doesn't matter.
As long as you're going back to bed and getting another full sleep cycle in before you have to be up in the morning, you're good to go.
The worst of it is when your alarm wakes you up right in a deep sleep phase. Leaves you feeling like hammered shit. You can get sleep apps that wait until you're in a light phase and then wakes you up as gently as possible. You have to give it a range of time for it to work, but it does.

Whoever fricking decided to continue building houses this way after the invention of artificial light was moronic, its like its built to frick up sleep.
Houses should have their bedrooms with big east facing windows. Try sleeping in a room like that and I guarantee you will wake up at like 7 without any alarm. I sleep on my couch whenever I need to reset my circadian rhythm because of this.
Artifical light especially blue light needs to be minimized, I hate having streetlights shine UPWARDS into my fricking 3rd story bedroom, especially BLUEISH WHITE LIGHT. Morons made it this way.
I would literally sleep outside in a clear plastic tent if I could do it without freezing.

Magnesium glycinate + l-theanine + apigenin = ultimate sleep combo (also boosts testosterone)

Melatonin is cope, will cause rebound sleepiness and some evidence it'll lower testosterone. You can take the combo I recommended every day without any negatives. I've been taking it for the last year and I've been sleeping like a baby. My life has improved tenfold since I started sleeping 8 hours a night, no exaggeration. Depression, anxiety, irritability, most of that gone. It's important bros. Don't cope with stimulants (like caffeine or harder stims) sleep well and you'll feel well.
