I dunno, if people cared so much about L E G D R I V E then they should get one of those football sleds that you can add plates too and practice pushing it.
    I do dumbbell bench.
Have you felt a noticeable difference between Larson and dumbbell?

because it makes you needlessly unstable

ive never had an issue being stable doing it
that would be more of an issue with bench position or your lower back not stabilizing the weight well

or maybe you're benching baby weight because you're a beginner

          I'm at the intermediate level
also I don't think this guy benches beginner baby weight. I dunno, everyone on IST is a 6'5 natty god so maybe you mog him

            pottery
and yeah as you can see in this video you linked Alphadestinys entire body is shaking to Larsen press 3pl8 even though he can bench 4pl8. You just proved my point lol, it's a very unstable movement.

              >bench variation that focuses more on upper body makes you bench less
              .....woah....

It's not about the fact that he's benching less you moron
It's the fact that he's shaking as he does it
He doesn't shake to bench 4pl8
Anyways you still didn't post your bench beginner
                >SS + GOMAD and don't post again until you bench 2pl8

so i'll get more upper body gains and have no chance of ego lifting for the cost of... maybe shaking? and he's still advocating for it lol
sounds good to me dude. you can enjoy making the air pregnant

Kinda makes sense. But you can’t stabilize yourself enough to safely bench a very high amount. And benching a very high amount is what will eventually make you bigger. Strength and hypertrophy aren’t exactly the same, but they are not independent either.

makes no sense given that if you train up your larsen press to a very high weight you would also be able to stabilize yourself up to that level. am i wrong?
and you can still plant your feet while unracking the bar, it's only during the movement do you have to take your feet off the ground

    >Tell me why I shouldn't replace every bench session with the Larsen Press since I'm not a competitive powerlifter
Why not replace it with weighted deep push-ups then
It's all the benefits of benching but you also get to keep your shoulders happy while at it. You use a weight belt and do it on parallel bars (or even rings) so maximum ROM + easily overloadable

Once it gets heavy enough it collapses your form.
The leg drive is a key part in stabilization because you drive your shoulder blades into the bench to support the weight on the bar.
Without that high tension, it gets very hard to keep the back tight, and you lose just enough positioning that you risk injury.
That's if you are doing 1 rm maxes, at least.
If you are doing sets of 50% of your bench 1rm then you can ignore what I posted.

      >That's if you are doing 1 rm maxes, at least.
Yeah, I'm not a competitive powerlifter
I don't remember the last time I tried doing a 1 RM max, I've only calculated it from 3-5 rep maxes

Check out this absolute bloatlord essentially larsen press over 600lbs.

He weighed in at nearly 370lbs though lmao.

Dude is a freak and an outlier.
His legs never worked so he's been training his upper body his whole life.
Also, he's so round and rotund that his high bodyfat seems to provide him enough stabilization.
Here's some other world record Larsens.

Just look up paraolympic bench press records

Alot of Olympic weightlifters used to bench with their feet on the bench since it wasn't something they cared about. They've done some crazy benches like that

So how much help does le Legdrive actually give. How much less you can do when doing larsen vs normal?
