>lab is 8, approaching 9 >already slowing down noticeably, can't run as long anymore, spends the next day licking his joints and resting if we play too hard
He's only 8 so I feel like it's my fault he's already feeling old age
based thread. put my best pal kitty cat down after 14 years and our boxer after 7 years, both were rescue critters. gonna get my postworkout meal in for them
We thank with brief thanksgiving

You who pass on this path, if you happen to see this monument, laugh not, I pray, though it is a dog’s grave. Tears fell for me, and the dust was heaped above me by a master’s hand. - Roman Dog Grave
i've never owned a dog in my life and i don't plan on it. I'm great with dogs and lots of my friend's dog's love me. But to have this much faith, connection, and devotion to a living thing that will die in 6 years is not worth it to me.
I thought IST was a bunch of strong willed individuals, not a bunch of dog fricker redditors.
don't let modern subversions about dogs seep in.
something happened 100,000's of thousands of years ago between man and dog that forged an eternal friendship.
treat them as you would treat yourself. make them strong and they'll thank you for it by being undyingly loyal.
I have a mutt who is a very strange dog. He doesn't like walking even a few blocks away from our home. Even when he is not leashed he never scours more that a few yards away from home. He won't ever run away but walking him is a pain in the ass. He is basically forcing me to walk between two streets in circles and when I try to make him walk more he just firmly stands in place not moving and giving me a moronic look. What do I do bros?
try to coax him with treats near the point he stops walking. if he won't go past his boundary do it a little further back. eventually he'll walk past it, increase distance incrementally and you'll be walkin with him in no time
loyalty regardless of danger is something of a nobility beyond the capabilities of many humans. that's why dogs are special.
There is no such thing as a bad day, even with broken bones, if they see you, they try to reach you
Lost one about 2 years ago. He was my wife’s dog but he loved me, too. Hit me much harder than I had anticipated. I wish you a period of mourning that does justice to your love for him, Anon.
My sisters german shepherd might be on her way out at 4 bros. It's hurting me so much. I remember when I lost my two childhood dogs, two mixed dalmation/labs, took me years to get over the losses. Every dog is the best. Treat them as such every day they share with you.
I broke up with my BPD gf after she cheated on me. It was a few months ago and I've been feeling better but I miss her two mutts like you wouldn't believe.
I've always loved dogs but could never have them because of allergies. The bond built with those dogs felt so special. I'm worried I'll never be able to have that again. What do I do anons?
thank you loyal dog, dear canine companion. I will lie down in this very spot and expire.
Rest in peace. Looked like a good boy.
Looks like a good boy. He will want you to keep staying IST for him so you can lift him up when it comes your time like all of us
He's running in the eternal grasses now.
Haha OP is tricking us he's actually just resting, right? Right?
RIP doggo.
Mine is also on his way out, will feel weird to wake up and not having him around and going for a walk.
It's hard for all of us bro, life goes on though, and that's what they'd want.
Dogs make better companions than w*men. If only they could swap life expectancies
Don't make me cry anon
Fuark bro made me tear up mines 13 and I think her time is short making it the best time it can be.
R. I. P. My dog died almost a year ago too. You just reminded me.
He had good cardio right up until the end about 14, give your dogs an extra pat for me, thanks bros
>wearing a scarf
kek mine would never allow this and try to shake it off.
looks like mine, 13 years old. God bless the good boy bro
Right in the fricking feels.

Labs have notoriously short lives compared to other dogs.
My jack Russel mutt lived to be 16
Sleep well pupper!
No... Bob, Ted, Girl, Sharon, Princess, Tór, Baldr, Lil' homie... Don't leave me alone... Not again...
RIP dogger. Run fast, good boy

Damn. Didn't expect to tear up at 9:30pm in the morning but here we are.
This was mine.. He waked me up every morning to play
He was my bro
I lived very far from any other kid
Never had a dog as a kid.
But i'm sure I would have a the same shit grin on my face if my parents would have bought me one.

What are the odds OP calls people out for being phoneposters?

Play with him in your yard like a normal person.
try to coax him with treats near the point he stops walking. if he won't go past his boundary do it a little further back. eventually he'll walk past it, increase distance incrementally and you'll be walkin with him in no time
Take him for a drive to a nature trail or park
