the rest is a big key
my bench progress was stalling when i did it 3x a week, then i reduced it to once every 2 weeks while doing other upper body compound lifts and noticed significant improvements per session
recovery is everything
Rest but also if you do different lifts and use different muscle groups you don’t normally workout. It makes them sore and hence when the muscle fiber rebuilds this is what gives you more muscle mass.
I recently walked a junkyard I’m going to hunt on and was picking up old car parts and putting them in a big pile off to the side so we can plow the field and plant clover and maybe corn
I was more sore than after even my most intense workout because I walked 14 miles each day while lifting 10-60lb objects.
I got back to lifting this week when i was at home and not the hunting property and increased my lifts by about 5lbs everywhere.
This is where I think calestenic fags arguments hold water
based, carryover strength is amazing
do something really hard that you haven't done recently and it'll feel like you've never done it before
the gains never stop coming because your body is never fully adapted to the stimulus it receives
i remember i did a fuckton of burpees for a few weeks, and came back to +10lbs on my squat
it makes sense since my quads and glutes were brutally sore after each high intensity burpee session
is this conjugate? or concurrent periodization?
whatever it is, it fuckin works man lol

I've been doing a 6-day PPL for years, the "rest more" that broke me out of my plateau was just getting a full 8 hours of sleep every day, especially when cutting. I still squat/press/pull twice a week and it's been a constant practically since I started lifting
I also found eating at a deficit so small that it's practically a recomp very helpful, more gains in the long run than a proper cut + bulk, but YMMV since I have friends who say the opposite
I have never seen any noticeable transformations at my gym. The people that were fit are still fit. The people that were fat are still fat. Been going about seven months. Entire body transformations actually seem quite rare.
They’re rare because they’re very difficult. Also, they happen slowly. Many people simply lack the patience and discipline to stick it out for the long haul.
Group of zoomers have been going to the gym the same length as me (since September). I'm down 56 lbs and bulky and jacked now.
All these dudes looks the exact same. When I see them they only go in for like 24 minutes though and all just do the same 3 lifts with each other. They need a program and discipline, probably have a shit diet too.
I noticed a few of those guys over the years.
What they all have in common is
a) doing the exact same stupid isolation excercises with the exact same small weights and perfect form
b) being very lean
c) doing a lot of cardio
needs to eat more and rest more

Is it just me, or is IST extra whiny tonight? What’s got all you fuckers so doomed out?
its mutt neet doomer hours
none of them actually lift
Have you tried trying?
gay your aren't special, flit and stop being a fag
>that guy that doesn’t work hard enough then comes to IST to complain about it
i dislike that guy
What does hard enough mean, though? I look okay without clothes but Ive not hit 2 plate bench or 3 plate squat.

Progress at the gym is 50% work 30% diet and 20% proper programming and rest
Just going to the gym is only half the battle

check your hormones
stop stalking me
It's called being natty
this was me for 5 years until 2 years ago i changed my mindset and became huge. basically i made all my gains in 2021+2022.
you have a shit scheme, shit diet, shit intensity. back to the drawing board
That was me. Cortisol was my big gains goblin since forever. The herbal shit like ashwagandha that suppresses cortisol is a Godsend.
Cortisol? What do you mean?
