If I want to make it, do I really have to avoid "drinking my calories" like so many people claim?

            Get a couple of cases of black cherry seltzer. You might not like it at first, but force yourself to have one when you would be having a Dr.Pepper. Even if you hate it for the first week or two, just fricking drink it. You will adapt and be better for it.

        The extra calories in beer are pretty negiligible compared to the classic vodka soda. Most of the calories remain the alcohol.
        So you can have beer, just don't be a full blown alcoholic. Vodka sodas won't help the full blown alcoholic lose weight.

    You can drink whatever if you're aware of your caloric needs. Just like food. People just focus on liquids cause they're rarely satiating so it's easy to ingest a lot of them without thinking.

    The calories you drink aren’t as satisfying as the calories you eat. If you’re ok with that then it doesn’t really matter as long as you still take the calories into account and don’t shrug them off. Just don’t go consuming a ton of sugar.

      It is something like ~2 calories in reality but it is usually just rounded down to 0. So 14 black coffee (doesn't matter if espresso, lungo or americano) is more like 35-40cal.

    so like. maybe the best thread to ask this.
    from experience it's impossible to gain weight on a purely liquid (mostly liquids the consistency of water/ a thicker broth at most) diet so like. if someone were to eat exactly at maintenance and drink like. 1000 extra calories of liquids. why would they gain weight? WOULD they gain weight? i'm asking for a breakdown of the biology ig if anyone knows .

    If you're cutting, drink black coffee. I'm not american, so I don't understand how some people get fat on soda, but it definitely happens. If you need to sip on something, milk works, or good juice, but don't drink too much. If you need to drink alcohol, go for clear spirits.
    Personally I'm trying to increase my weight without adding refined sugar to my diet, so I drink some of my calories. If you're just starting out, remember your demand will go up a lot as you lift and keep lifting, don't limit your calories too much at the same time as you start lifting or you'll be very tired and feel like shit. In fact, improve the quality of your meals, but consider also raising the quantity. Once you've gotten a good grasp of training and diet, losing fat will be no problem.

    drinking your calories is fine if it's milk because milk will give you protein, fat, carbs and a lot of micronutrients. It's basically a liquid food. But soda and stuff like that? I wouldn't touch it on a cut
