Kettlebells are the best thing to press and allow you to get the benefits of snatches without all the schooling required to do it correctly with a barbell. This is not enough for me to pay several hundred dollars for a good set though.

This. I own a plate-loaded kettlebell and I do heavy swings for power, light swings for cardio and goblet squats with it. For that it's fantastic and worth what I paid ($60). It also fits easily into any gym bag if you take off the handle. I might also add woodchoppers if I can figure out a good way to do them without risking hitting my knee and -AACKing the shit out of myself. Acting like it can or should replace a full gym though is a meme, unless you own like 30 sets of bells in different weights (some of which would need to be gigantic) and have some weird, esoteric routine built around them.

Look I love kettlebells. I love most exercises and the equipment to perform them. But I can’t sell myself into kettlebells only.
I think if I moved somewhere and set up a bit of home gym a single 24kg and some rings would be the first component. But it you end up buying “a few pairs” of kettlebells, you might as well get a barbell and plates for the same price. Since kettlebells attract some weirdos who will buy them regardless of expense they cost a lot.

KB only seems good for shoulders and forearms (but maces might be better) however would neglect the arms and lats/back - should add calisthenics. It’s more efficient for muscle growth to use DBs… And there’s no real maximal lifts with KB so adding a heavy BB lift or something for bone density and strength would also be good. Seems overall like one of those reddit niche-build-your-identity-on-it memes to go KB only.

Also I started playing around with them at the gym for some fun, and could unilateral power snatch the 24kg a few times without trying it before. Is that a good start? Although also means I’d need to get heavier ones (too much cost maybe) if I set up as a hole gym.

Kettlebells were made by a bunch of poorgays who could only squeeze out a blob of metal and couldn't make a balanced plate or bar that is kind of essential for barbells and dumbbells.

Then a bunch of crossfit hipsters rediscovered them in 2010 and they were Le Different and so they made them super cool or whatever bullshit

I like kettlebells, and in a rather autistic moment even trained for and competed in kettlebell sport. But what a dumbass post OP, you should be embarrassed.
