Damn, that would be cool if we took a wrestler and a swimmer, put them in the deep end of a pool and forced them to try to drown each other.

I've wrestled for 24 years and I have to be stronger and better conditioned to beat someone
(yes smaller can be stronger and better conditioned)

Technique is a meme unless both are maxxed out physically

Nah technique has to count for a lot because if it didn't I'd have been able to pin a lot of people smaller than me on week 1. I tried wrestling once after having been a lifelong track sprinter and technique matters.

I guess all the proper moves are instinct to me and everyone I wrestle is good

yeah fwiw the wrestlers could tell I was conditioned because I wouldn't be a pushover, but I'd also get them in a worse position and then have no idea how to roll them on their backs or break them down.

You certainly need to learn basics. Coaching middle school today and boy is it frustrating.

I coach HS too. Have a few who aren't beginners anymore and their whole problem is being weak. Got em on the MWF 5x5 now so they're beasts nxt year.

Smart man. I tell them it's okay to skip fall preseason if they run cross country or swim. No takers yet. They'll just do club wrestling (yup, I coach that too)

Single Arm Long Cycle (clean, squat to jerk) with KBs would be some of the best option combined with heavy deadlifting to get some wrestling strength and stamina in the least amount of time unless they can do barbell clean & jerk (doubt) without injuring themselve which used to be wrestling training method gold standard.

I would blind them first with my 90w laser then stab them to death with my Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, afterwards I would drag them into the woods and cannibalize pieces of their flesh.

28 year old boomer here. Should I start wrestling or MT? I’m trying to decide between the 2

I've gone for my first wrestling class recently. A bit older than you, it was tough but I made it. I think striking is more "fun" and accessible if you're just looking to learn something. Wrestling is dirty. Think people slipping on sweat. MT is more "fun"
