Why the frick would you eat carbs and just mess with your own fat burning processes and satiety hormones? just stick to the protein you'll get better fat loss results and be much less hungry.

      >Why the frick would you eat carbs
I'm not a ketotard. I find that a small amount of carbs goes a long way for energy in the day. I don't really get hungry. Around mid day I'll have another teaspoon of peanut butter if I'm really feeling hungry, but other than that once I eat everything in the image I can go most of the day without eating again.

I am willing to replace the nature valley bar. I was trying it this week, it's pretty redundant since im already eating oatmeal. I'll replace that with steak or pulled pork for more fats and proteins

You're not losing 0.4 pounds of fat per day with your shitty low-protein diet. You are losing 0.4 pounds of fat and muscle. Most people want to avoid losing muscle when cutting, so they eat high-protein diets. If you eat a low-protein low-calorie diet, you will lose fat and muscle. I really can't make this any more clear for you.

70g of protein per day is fine for a child or a small woman. For a grown man who is actively losing weight, you should be eating at least double that.

What are the overall macros, and what is your height and weight. My guess is that it's not near enough protein or calories (or even dietary fat for proper hormonal function, you know you need a minimum amount right?), even if you are trying to lose weight, unless maybe you are a 5'0" 110 lb woman.

      >My guess is that it's not near enough protein or calories (or even dietary fat for proper hormonal function, you know you need a minimum amount right?),
I don't care about protein intake or dietary fat intake. All those things complicate weight loss. It's as simple as calories in calories out. Everything else is just noise to make you stall from information overload.
      >even if you are trying to lose weight, unless maybe you are a 5'0" 110 lb woman.
I am trying to lose weight. I've lost 15lbs this year so far. Trying to lose another 15

I know it can be more optimized. But I'm not going to calculate it. I make sure I eat enough calories to be under my tdee then I play it by how my body feels. Right now I feel good. Ran a 5k yesterday, haven't stalled on my weights. So I think it's working for me. If an anon wants to calculate my diet macros and suggest improvements that's fine. I'm already opting for steak so keep that in mind that I'll have more protein starting next week

I lost 90 lbs in 11 months, and I'm telling you macros—at a minimum protein—really matter. Yes cico is cico, but if you want to minimize lean mass loss, you should get around 117g of protein (0.8g/lb body weight) a day at least. I don't think you are getting anywhere near that from that meal.
Dietary fat is also important, as besides hormonal function you need it to be able to absorb certain fat-soluble vitamins and minerals (hope you are taking a multivitamin by the way, given how limited this meal is). Ideally you want around 25% of calories from fat per day, but during weight loss phase 15% is fine. However, if its lower than that for awhile it won't kill you or do any lasting harm. Just don't want to do that really long term.
Beef would help, for protein and fat, but I don't know that it will be enough extra protein to get to where you ought to be. 1250 calories is actually fine, knowing your height and weight. You're well within the 500-1,000 cal/day deficit range.

          Anonymous

I hear you and I mostly agree with you. But I just really hate the idea of planning macros. Like I actually don't care about macros to the point I'd prefer to not have optimized macros for the exchange of not having to stress out about both calorie intake and macro intake.

I'm taking the ignorance is bliss approach with this. And congrats on your weight loss. 90lbs is really impressive within a years time.

I'll add the beef and take it from there. If my progress stalls then I'll consider my macros and come back to this thread. For now it works so thats good enough for me

          >you should get around 117g of protein (0.8g/lb body weight) a day at least.
is this per lb of goal weight or per lb of current weight when in a deficit to lose fat?

            Anonymous

0.8-1.0g per lb of current weight. 1g/lb is conventional wisdom but its honestly overkill, its just that it won't hurt anything, its easy to calculate and it will definitely be enough (unless maybe you are on a lot of gear).
Only reason to use goal weight instead of current is if you are really fricking obese. If you weigh say 300 lbs and are morbidly obese, you don't need 300g of protein a day, so it would be better to base protein on goal weight instead. I don't imagine anyone needs 300g/day, even dudes on gear.

i meant according to BMI, trust me i know what i am.

There's plenty of ways to get to 180g of protein a day without chicken, although that is a fine option. Basically look for anything with protein:calorie ratios under 1:10 (chicken is 1:5-6). Certain cuts of pork and fish are similarly low, as are non-fat greek yogurt, cottage cheese and protein powder (if you don't mind the cost).

should you be hitting that number even on off days?

                Anonymous

You mean off days from training? Yes, you should try to hit that every day. Muscle protein synthesis doesn't return to near baseline levels until about 36 hours after heavy resistance training. Its ok if you miss it by a bit some days, not going to hinder you in the long run. You just don't want to wildly undershoot it frequently.

yep days off from training. i'm not lifting extremely heavy, and with a 1000cal deficit is it realistic or even necessary to eat that much protein unless i'm moving huge weights?

                Anonymous

180g really isn't an insane amount. It's doable even on that kind of deficit. You said you were barely obese for 229 lbs based on BMI, so I'll assume 6' even, which would land you right in the lower end of the obesity range. TDEE for that would be ~2,400, so with deficit 1,400/day goal. 180g would get you just over 50% of the way to 1,400, say 15% for fat and the rest carbs.

0.8 g/lb does bake in some margin of error. Most research doesn't show much benefit past 0.64 g/lb, which at 229 lbs would be about 147g per day. But at that point if you go below that you theoretically start seeing negative impacts. How quickly they would accumulate I do not know.

It seems that you’re moronic, so I’ll simplify your omad. 8oz ground beef, 1 cup sweet potato, 1 cup brussel sprouts. Boil potatoes and sprouts for 30m before dicing and pan frying in 1tbsp of coconut oil. Add spices to taste. Add ground beef to the pan after about 5m and mash into chunks. Season beef and let sit until fat begins to render. Toss until beef is cooked through.

Sub 900 calories. Make this the basis of your omad.

This is great advice, except I would remove the useless brussel sprouts and replace them with an egg or a little piece of beef liver or something actually nutritious. Anyway, I don't think OP will follow your advice because he seems to be focused on staying moronic.

A lot of other people just sit around or sleep or chase drugs. The food is shitty but adequate. The jails I was in they give you some sort of sugar wafer with your meal, people would save them up and mix them with milk to enjoy something similar to a bowl of cereal. OMAD for me looks like this: 6 whole egg omelette with some sort of cured meat and raw cheese filling+ red meat (usually a steak or homemade patties)+ some sort of fish. IF I want some more filler I'll have a little potato. The foundation of a sensible diet especially if it's OMAD should be high quality animal foods with their naturally occuring fats, garnished with other things for taste if you like.

Goyslop like bars, peanut butter, oatmeal, doesn't belong in a meal like that especially when you're trying to lose weight and every calorie matters.

I feel like you'd have a better time if you ate less dense foods, particularly when you're doing OMAD.
You could swap that nature valley bar out for a massive salad or rice bowl

      Anonymous

Ok what's the problem with dense foods? I was under the assumption you wanted more calorie dense foods to take longer to break down, vs fast quick foods that don't satiate you

        >more calorie dense foods to take longer to break down
Fat is the most calorie dense food that there is and it gets broken down almost instantly. Fast food is also extremely calorie dense too for that reason
Swapping out calorie dense food for less calorie dense food not only makes it take up more volume in your stomach (which is more filling) but depending on what you add if it's lettuce or rice it will add a lot of fibre to your diet which is slow to digest and will slow down and makes everything else you eat slower to digest too.

If you've found something that works for you then stick with it but given your extremely low calorie target adding fibre would be my first recommendation, outside of bumping up your calories and possibly doing more low intensity cardio to offset the difference

Horrific, frick the goyslop bar and the bread off and eat some vegetables. Don't even care which ones you choose. If you really want the peanut butter just have it on its own or with the oatmeal but I'm not in a position to really tell you what to do regarding peanut butter as I've only just recovered from a crippling pb addiction.

The goyslop bar is getting axed. Lmao I've heard enough responses. I thought it would be an interesting option. Poor mistake

      >eating garden slop
I don't eat it every day, or even often. It is incredibly popular in the southern U.S., however, particularly with BBQ. I don't care that you don't like coleslaw, I just think you are pants-on-head moronic for deciding anything is universally unpopular based only on social media memes.

If 100 people like something and 1000000 people don't. It's unpopular even if you're little hicktownville USA corner loves it

        >100 people like it
Variations of coleslaw are literally eaten all over the world kek. It's not even an original American dish, the shit originated from the Netherlands in the 1700s. You really need to learn that your opinions are not necessarily everyone else's opinions. Nice digits though.

Unless you are morbidly obese, drop OMAD bs and hit some weights. Fancy diets only work so much until you hit a plateau around your normal BMI

I hit a plateau at 22 BMI. Trying to drop to 19 or 20. Omad seems to be the only thing that mentally keeps me in check. All other forms of dieting let me eat throughout the day. With OMAD I get 1 meal, then I can mentally prepare for a 24hr fast

      way to little for cutting
you want to cut the with the smallest amount of cal deficit possible and tapper down over time if stalling

I want to do OMAD but my breath stinks when I'm on an empty stomach and I haven't been able to solve that yet, usually I just pop some Fisherman's friend but too much of that probably isn't good with the sweeteners and shit. How do y'all go about it during the fasting phase

The nature valley and PB sandwich seem kinda shit if you're trying to lose weight, not a lot of volume for the caloric content so not really maxing your satiation for the calories.

Otherwise nothing wrong with it. 1250 cals is a pretty steep cut though

total shit. third ingredient is canola oil, yuck.
if you must have a protein bar look for one without the shit. better still, buy oats and make your own. I bet your bread is some sugar loaf garbage and your peanut butter has additives as well. also quit being a homosexual and eat the yolk, the white alone is all but useless.

At your height, I believe optimal protein intake is in the 90-110 gram range, so I think if you replace the nature valley bar with something like a protein bar, and some other healthy fat, and it would be a solid macronutrient-wise.

Why are you cutting if you are already lean and have abs?

6 pack abs. Also not eating 6 million grams of protein doesn't mean I don't have muscle. FYI.

If you don't have a 6 pack at 14% bodyfat, then you have tiny weak abs. An athletic male who exercises sees a 6 pack way above 8% BF. You definitely have some kind of eating/dysmorphia disorder and/or are skinnyfat.

              Anonymous

Kek what a dumb comment. This is 15% bodyfat. You will NOT see a 6 pack at 14%. Yet alone 12%
You may have visible abs. You may have several packs showing. But a full 6 pack requires tou being really lean since you need to lose that last bit of belly fat.

That guy is not on 1250 kcal "i don't care about macros" omad tho, is he?

If you looked like the guy on the right at 15%, I guaran-fricking-tee you, when you're at 8% bodyfat, you're not going to look like the guy in the middle. Especially not when you're eating 70 grams of protein per day on a 1250 calorie cut.
